I had a great experience with North Shore Spinal & Sports Rehabilitation. Dr. Johnson is a great diagnositcian. He put me at ease each time I met with him. The therapists are excellent, each with their own style but all so knowledgeable. Caroline was so friendly and helpful with scheduling and providing what I needed for insurance claims. I feel so much better after working with them for a few months!

I’ve been to both IBJI and Shirley Ryan multiple times over the last few years. While I respect Shirley Ryan for its staff’s expertise and strong organizational capacity (especially as a large business with many departments and lots of staff), they simply don’t have the warmth and attention to detail that Dr. J and his team have. For starters, it’s rare to find a physical therapist who is also trained as a chiropractor. I have chronic low back pain from a military-related injury to my L4/L5 and FAI in my hip. Having a medical professional who understands my complex health issues and who provides holistic and patient-centered, individualized care has been invaluable to my progress. All staff work really well as a team. As an added bonus, Caroline is such a wonderfully pleasant office manager who’s always a joy to interact with. She’s responsive and kind enough to accommodate scheduling changes. Ciprian and David are the most skilled assistants/aides I’ve encountered, naturally bringing good energy to every session. They are both very competent and comfortable making gentle corrections to your form when doing exercises, if needed, which I really appreciated and makes a noticeable difference in outcomes. That initiative is what helped me perform familiar exercises with less discomfort and more ease going forward. Sometimes, it can feel like physical therapy is a waste of time and something you just get through to appease your insurance and medical providers. You won’t regret coming to North Shore Rehab, though, in order to return to normal activity levels and feeling like yourself again.

Dr Johnson and his team did an excellent job diagnosing my issue, developing the correct PT and giving me exercises for me to do on my own. I had a very quick recovery from back sprain. Back to normal activities very quickly with no lingering pain. I have recommended them to people in the past and will continue to recommend them.

My daughter came to Dr J and the PT crew suffering from torn labrum in both hips and debilitating long Covid symptoms. The whole team provided the safest, most healing space for her and nurtured her back to health! She no longer needs surgery for her hips and she is heading back to college strong thanks to the whole team there! They could not have been more supportive and understanding. A big thank you to everyone!

Very competent and caring staff. Excellent assessment and individualized plan development with focused 1-on-1 sessions to implement the plan and facilitate the patient’s comfort and expertise in following the plan on his or her own.

When I first arrived at the clinic, I was in acute pain in both shoulders with tingling in both hands. Dr. J conducted a thorough evaluation, asked very thoughtful questions and really listened to what I had to say. His diagnosis was right on the mark (essentially multiple pinched nerves emanating from the neck). He prescribed an exercise-based course of physical therapy, usually including a few minutes or so of therapeutic massage, and gave me a home exercise program which was tailored to my situation and expanded as I made progress. After 3 months I have no pain and rarely any tingling, which I can control with positioning and/or exercises. Dr. J and his team of physical therapists are very caring and professional. I could not be more grateful to them and would recommend this office in a heartbeat.

I came in with a herniated disc after suffering for two weeks. Within 3 weeks I was back to working out! I had a wonderful experience with the team as we worked through my personalized recovery plan. This was my first time going to an spinal rehab / sports clinic and it was perfect - if I get injured again, I will return here

This is the best physical therapy clinic I’ve ever been to. Dr. Johnson is so knowledge on the topic and so kind! David, the PTA, does a great job at explaining exercises while making it fun! I loved my experience here, thank you NSSPT!! You guys are amazing

North Shore Spinal & Sports Rehabilitation is my home away from home! I have been a patient off and on since I broke my ankle about 15 years ago. I have also had many back and neck issues. I tried several other places where a therapist would start with me and then move on to another patient....leaving me to do the exercises (or not do them!) (or do them incorrectly!). That model did not work for me. At North Shore Spinal & Sports, I worked with one therapist for the full appointment and received a short massage after each session...my reward!! The therapists watch me carefully and make these tiny modifications which make all the difference. I often asked the therapists to video me doing the exercizes so I could do my "homework" correctly. And Dr. J...although his method of communicating has changed due to radiation side effects, he has always been spot-on with his diagnosis. He converses by writing down his ideas/suggestions. I had been to multiple doctors about a pain in my rib cage. I was given lots of pain pills that masked the pain...but it was Dr. J and his team that knew how to make the pain go away. Physical therapy is a powerful tool and the diagnosis by Dr. J is an essential part of the program. And the front desk is managed by Caroline who always has a kind word for everyone!

Only praise and admiration for this whole crew. Dr J ,Ciprian , and David rehabbed a double knee surgery on my right knee 2 surgeries in 6 months one meniscus and bone graphs then a full ACL. I am back to 100% and more confident of my knee than pre surgery. NS spinal ensures the quality of your recovery with the same one or two therapists partnering to see you through your rehabilitation. Dr J oversees the entire process. If you want the best quality rehabilitation in Chicagoland, this is where you go. Thank you a million
