The street transforms dramatically after 7 PM. Expect loud music and large crowds. Keep an eye on your belongings and be prepared for persistent vendors and promoters. Weekends are the busiest. Consider visiting on a weekday for a slightly less crowded experience.

It is such a captivating, lively and enjoyable yet relaxing atmosphere. I spent most of my 2 nights of my stay in HCM City in Bui Vien Walking Street enjoying my dinner with a glass of flavourful and rich iced Vietnamese black coffee at my favourite joint, 5 Boys, while watching the world go by. Although I stayed at a hotel very close by to Bui Vien Walking Street, I do not feel disturbed or annoyed by the blaring heart-pounding music from the many clubs there nor did it cause me any sleepless nights. To me, Bui Vien Walking Street did not disappoint, and I really enjoyed my time there having dinner while sipping the flavourful and rich iced Vietnamese black coffee.

This vibrant tourist attraction in Ho Chi Minh City is a lengthy street lined with an array of restaurants and bars, transformed into a dazzling spectacle every night through its mesmerizing illumination. As you stroll along, you might be surprised by the warm hospitality of locals, with some even offering you a complimentary drink or inviting you to take a seat. The street is abuzz with activity, featuring “sexy men and women dancers” that add to the lively ambiance, often accompanied by loud music that pulsates through the air. The nightlife here is truly unique, giving the impression that sleep is a distant concept in this area. It's an exhilarating experience that's definitely worth anticipating – the energy is electric, and the memories are waiting to be made.
Its a busy street with loud music and vibrant lights everywhere. Things to note here-; - Multiple bars and different prices - Girls dancing outside and insdie the bars - Some cheap bars and you can sit outsidr & drink - don't fall into massage trap - Be careful and look after your belongings - lot of food places also - Don't go boom boom as its illegal - Bars starts to pick up 10PM till late - its a same vibe everyday. - dont get too drunk. - taxi drivers are scammers
It is a very crowded and noisy street, with loud parties in venues along the street. A bit similar to Khao San in Bangkok. I stayed in a hotel in an alley 200m from Bui Vien and the noise was still very strong. Most restaurants are pricy tourist traps but the quality of the food is quite reasonable. 7-11 and CircleK shops are very crowded during the night and the queue is long. Many prostitutes. Many promoters trying to pull one to their bar/party/massage parlor which I find very annoying. Great place for loud boom boom party vibe.
We headed to the area for dinner, and it immediately gave off great vibes. After enjoying a delicious meal, we explored some rooftop bars and strolled through the lively streets. By around 10 PM, the energy really ramps up—it gets loud and a bit rowdy, but that’s part of the charm. It’s definitely a place you have to experience for yourself. A vibrant and exciting spot that’s undeniably cool!
colorful, busy street filled with bars, restaurants, & street vendors! We encountered an aggressive mom & her little child when we decided not to buy from her. She cursed, followed us & even threw a fan to us. Best advice is not to interact with any moving street vendors.
Bùi Viện Walking Street, located in the heart of Ho Chi Minh City’s District 1, is one of the liveliest and most famous nightlife areas in the city. Known as the “backpacker street,” it’s packed with bars, clubs, restaurants, and street food stalls, drawing both tourists and locals alike. By night, the atmosphere becomes wild — loud music blasts from every corner, the street fills with flashing lights, and crowds of people spill out onto the pavement. It’s common to be approached by promoters inviting you to drink or to check out go-go bars and strip shows. If you’re looking for a high-energy, chaotic night out, Bùi Viện is the place to be — just be prepared for the noise, crowds, and the occasional pushy vendor.
