Good prices if you know how to bargain. Tip, start 75% off of what they tell you. Don't budge on your price. If they disagree, walk to the next booth. Many booths have the same things. The next booth, try 65% off. Keep going and trying again and again, eventually you will find their bottom price and get the best possible deal.

Everything is here to look and buy but only with the energy to negotiate. Every shop will start with 2-3 folds of actual reasonable prices except for Vietnamese traditional costume shops that will show fix prizes. Go for it and have fun with buying. Anyway, if you want to buy with peace of mind then go to Saigon Square, beside Saigon Center. It's air-conditioned and no inflated offer prices. Great quality products with small money to pay.

Good market for buying clothes, shoes, bags souvenirs and counterfeit products. Avoid buying things from the front line shops when u enter. Most of them are super rude and not polite and arrogant and super expensive, its like they are giving products for free. Instead look for shops on the inner side. Most of them are polite..friendly and very good. They even offer good prices. I did many purchase from shop no 642. Very good people and they offer good price, its just you have to bargain a little.

I was dragged around by middle-aged ladies trying to scam me to take pity on them to buy their products. I understand they're trying to earn a living. But personal boundaries man... Take a good walk around, walk to the inner shops too to understand the prices that each shop is offering for the product that you're eyeing. Don't be fooled :)

This is a very old market in the center of Ho Chi Minh city. It's so hot during lunch time because of the hot weather and the heat from the ceiling. So many food stalls inside with variety of food for your choice. The price is quite expensive for the food portion and the taste. So many people will follow you and ask you to try their food, it's a bit annoying here. So you have to be stiff in front of them. For tourists, if you don't know where to buy gifts or try southern vietnamese food, you can come here, don't need to search anywhere else. But Ben Thanh market is good for only a back-up plan on your trip, not a must-visit attraction. Although, I am very happy to comeback here after the pandemic 😌

This market caters to tourists. Most of the vendors have similar stocks. It's best to roam around first and bargain for the best price. Majority of the vendors are friendly, not pushy at all and do check out the food stalls. Great selections of items to choose from. Overall, I give this market a 9/10.

You can buy literally anything from this market. I would suggest that you come during the day though as they close early. Maybe before 6pm. The prices are doubled or tripled for tourists so make sure to haggle. Souvenir shirts that are 300000 dong are actually half the price. We bought everything half the price they initially quoted from various stores. The durian is very good and you can eat it there. They will provide plastic gloves and tissue. You can get a better price if you buy a items together. We bought freshly ground coffee and they gave us the cup for free.

It is a bargain hunters delight! Stuff you can browse through while also having some hearty meals and juices you can spend an entire day here and buy everything or nothing. The options spoil you for choice. Most ladies run the shops and they are smart as a whip. They will bargain with you and yet make you feel happy about the sale. We got some very good bargains. We did meet the one odd shop keeper who was offended when we did not buy from her but overall the people were really nice & helpful. The local guides will tell you about bargain steals at the night market. It's hogwash. You get equally good deals in the morning and more options. Spend the evenings enjoying the local vibe at a pub or eatery.

Bến Thành Market is located in the center of Hồ Chí Minh City in District 1 area. Ben Thanh Market is the most famous shopping destination for tourists. It is a good place to buy local handicrafts, branded items, Vietnamese art and other souvenirs. You can find almost everything here, including souvenirs, clothing, hats, coffee, tea, shoes, purses, snacks, fresh fruit, art, electronics, toys, spices, suitcases, watches, fruit and jewelry. Inside the market, you’ll find food stalls and eateries offering delicious Vietnamese street food and local delicacies. The market has four main entrances and twelve sub entrances.

Nice market but bargain hard. Prices for goods are really inflated. It is a very very clean market. Not your usual Asian market. The best part of the market was the food stalls, lots of variety, good quality and prices not too bad.

Certainly a tourist trap.. it's a ripped off by the vendors in the market.. the vendors are very pushy and unfriendly as well.. the prices of goods are marked up crazily! I saw a pouch I am interested in, the market is selling 150vnd while a souvenir shop located in another area is only selling 30vnd.. what a rip off! Unless you enjoy spending time bargaining with the vendor, perhaps it's a good place to go.. otherwise a Big No.. It's only worth going to see around as this market is big enough and sell all sort of local products and food..

I kinda liked it against all odds. Good options to shop for. Bargain is a must. Do not forget to drop the prices by atleast 60% of what they quote. You can get good Vietnamese street food too. Morning hours are best to bargain and find things at ease.

Ben Thanh Market in Ho Chi Minh City is a bustling hub known for its wide variety of goods, but it's essential to be cautious. Most vendors specialize in selling imitation branded products, so visitors should beware of haggling and be confident in saying no to avoid any unwanted purchases. The market offers a unique shopping experience, particularly for those seeking souvenirs, but discernment is key when navigating the array of goods. Amidst the shopping, the market features a side with a food court in the middle, providing a welcome break for visitors. This section not only offers a diverse selection of local cuisine but also serves as a convenient spot to relax and refuel. In summary, Ben Thanh Market can be an exciting destination for souvenir shopping, but it's crucial to approach it with a discerning eye, especially when dealing with imitation branded goods.

You will find absolutely everything here. Be sure not to get lost here. I liked this place. It's just standing in the middle of the busy road and there are so many people coming over here to check out clothes, groceries, food items, decor, souvenirs and what not. If you are good at bargaining, you can think of doing hopping here. The market is so big, it was super fun to watch.

We visited the market at about 7pm on a Saturday evening. At least half the stalls were still opened. There was a mixture of food, coffee, clothing, shoes, souvenirs, and accessories stalls. The market was clean, and the sellers were friendly and not pushy. The Pho and coffee we had were excellent. Recommended, and remember to bargain (not for food and drink, of course) to get a good price.

Great place you find absolutely everything you need. Just have to deal the prices with the sellers because they see that you are a foreigner and they charge you 8 to 10 times the price they gave to local ones. Check the size of the clothes too. They're very small in comparison with everywhere else. The only bad point is the outside. They see that you are getting off the busses, and they bother you so much you start getting upset. You tell them you don't need anything from them and they follow you and follow you and follow until you get upset or buy something from them.

Go here for the experience of a market if you're in a hurry to 'tick all the boxes', not the shopping - the sellers are pushy, your sleeves will be tugged on, and the prices are far better even a street away. This place is frequented by tourists and is priced accordingly. If you want to try your hand at bargaining start very low, or if you want to save yourself the stress opt for the fixed price stalls around the edges. Novelty shirts, souvenirs and watches are the staple goods of the market, along with a decent selection of food stalls. There are many perfumes available here which may be the only real reason to go. Traders move on to the surrounding streets at night which makes for a less cramped and more enjoyable experience as the market is not air-conditioned and fairly stifling

Not the greatest fan of markets, as you spend money and lots of it, that is a fact, but this one was pretty good. Not many visitors on the Saturday we went, which was surprising, which meant as soon as we entered we were accosted for all sorts of products and wares.... The stalls are set out well and one can buy clothes, watches, shoes, jewelry, etc etc. and it is fun to walk around but one can get lost amongst all the side stalls. As for buying something......I bought a pair of runners, a small bum bag, and two football shirts. I am quite good at haggling and got most of the sellers down to minimum 50% of what they first asked.....although I think I still over paid on the runners, as the quality of them were not as good as first expected......... and having said that the prices are still a little over priced even with a 50% drop, as the quality isn't the best.........the football shirts are just bad knock offs for example........... .. Still though, as markets go, this was very interesting...

A typical market catered for tourists- super aggressive vendors (tugging on arm + clothes!) Easiest way to pick up local gifts. Definitely the best place to practice bargaining. Food + drinks was unexpectedly good.

The market itself holds some really nice items. There are a ton of options for clothing, souvenirs and food. However, during my experience.. I had several sellers get upset when I didn’t want to buy something. They were very pushy and didn’t like the word no. My advice.. go but only acknowledge the stands you’re interested in and haggle the prices.

Pretty much everything you can buy elsewhere, but a fun place just to walk around and see stuff. Just be ready to bargain as most stuff seems to be marked for at least double of what you pay at a local supermarket. We tried the food but were not especially impressed. We saw cockroaches and a mouse running around, but at least we didn't experience any tummy trouble after eating there. Still I think it's one of those places you have to visit at least once.

If you have a good bargaining skill, then you are the winner here. You will get a wide range of stuff from here. Food, Clothes, Ornaments, Souvenirs, Chocolate and all you need to get from Vietnam. But you should bargain. If they say 400 then try to get it for 100 or at least 150. If you are a foreigner then there are special prices for you (4x price) 😁😉😁

Famous market at the capital of Vietnam. They have everything you need, clothes, bags, purse, wallets, shoes, daily goods, nuts, coffee, tea, bamboo made products, crocheted hats, caps, souvenirs. This market can give you everything you can think of. Prices are at high side as the products are meant for tourists. Make sure you bargain till the maximum to get the best rate. Huge discounts available if you can satisfy the quantity. Tips: The vendors are multilingual and speak Cantonese, English, Mandarin, and certain dialects.

One stop shop for Vietnam gifts. There are so many stores here, you can almost get everything you need as a tourist. Use your bargain skill to get a better prices, have fun. Once the prices are agreed in between, many of the owners are friendly and polite and appreciated your business.

This place was mad and one of the best highlights in Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam. My group of friends ended up spending almost a whole day here buying various clothes, souvenirs and gift items. Friendly people around helping, bargaining and making everyone spend a lot. It was a fun good experience here.

well known as a tourist trap. highly entertaining experience! you will find that many stores sell the same products; many tacky souvenirs. but there will always be something to buy. the shop owners will try their best to grab your attention and make a sale. you will get into a negotiation game with them and try to secure the best price for yourself.. often you will overpay, but foreign currency generally goes a much longer way than vietnamese dong (speaking from North America), so why not take some losses and help out the locals? lots of food, coffee, stores; fun experience.

Good place to shop souvenirs & hunt some local delicacies. Be sure to haggle as much as you can to get the best out of your bucks. However you may opt for fixed price shop which is regulated by the government, price tags are displayed, staffs are in orange colour uniform and receipts are issued.

This place has always been my favorite area to visit whenever I’m in Saigon. There are a lot of food stalls around and reasonable prices. Of course, if you’re looking to buy souvenirs or something, you can always bargain for the prices you’re willing to pay. That’s the fun part of shopping there. I highly recommend everyone to check Chợ Bến Thành out.

Very big market. There is one section just for food, another section just for coffee, another for clothes, shoes, backpacks, jewelry,... So there is a huge number of shops. The problem is that I have the feeling that all shops sell the same products, so in terms of variety it isn't very large. There are four main entrances (North, South, East and West), but there are also smaller ones. Something I didn't like about the market is that the toilet isn't free, you have to pay to use it, at least the one near door number 7. In the food section, some places have small chairs and tables available. We didn't try food there so I don't have an opinion about the quality. It is a place where you should definitely bargain the prices because the first one they tell you is extremely inflated. If you go in the afternoon, some shops haven't sold anything in the whole day and they are more open to lower even more the prices and you can get items way cheaper. Don't be shy and bargain as hard as you can because if it doesn't succeed, you have plenty of places where you can find the same product and you can bargain again. Another drawback (this one is personal and maybe for some people this isn't a problem) is that the shop owners are constantly telling you to go inside their shops, sometimes shouting at you, you can't even look briefly without having a person on your back telling you to buy them something. This is sometimes too much, for example, a lady grabbed me by my arm and pulled me inside her shop. I think this is unacceptable. Certainly worth giving it a chance, but be ready for it.

The market is very old and is a well recognised landmark of HCM. However, it seems the place is now primarily catering to tourists and is a tourist trap for the most part, there are more tourists inside than locals. The souvenirs and food items sold inside are very highly priced and those who can’t negotiate or negotiate poorly, be prepared to be ripped, the ladies inside are expert sweet talkers. Those who aren’t looking to buy anything, its quite lively and colourful inside, good photo opportunities.

This market is intense! Shop owners are a bit aggressive asking what you’re looking for and offering their goods. It is an interesting site to see and if you’re in the market for souvenirs this is a good place to visit. Lots of food stall options in one location if you’re looking to experience local dishes. The outer (open air) market where they sell produce, meat, and fish is not for the faint of heart!

Ben Thanh Market is a place for the shoppers. It’s a great place for bags and cloths. All you need to do is to know how to bargain …! There’s a good local food market towards the end of the market. I won’t suggest the food there because you will get much more good quality street food near the old town square. Even then I personally went there and had quite a lot of shopping.

Had a visit on Wednesday morning, so it is less crowded. Other days in HCM was just passed by since I stayed at a hotel nearby. It has four main entrances so it is easy to enter from any side. My impression of this market is sellers are aggressively selling their products. As I didn’t intend to buy souvenirs from here, so I don’t dare to stop by. I just take a glance while passing by. Hygiene of the food in this market I am not too sure since didn’t try it out. But I notice a street nearby has an unpleasant smell like garbage. Road surface has liquid like water coming out from garbage that make the street smelly. Not only that, I saw a worker thrown the one-time-use utensils to roadside in front of their restaurant after customer leave. This is somewhere nearby the market but not inside the market. Perhaps hygiene awareness can be improve further.

A humongous open air flea market. Be prepared to price shop for the exact same things in different places. If you speak Vietnamese, you can probably pay closer to what local market price is. You'll see people from all over the world in this market. The shop owners usually speak passable English or poor Mandarin. Do not go in if you're claustrophobic. There are so many people inside that it can feel very cramped.

This market has everything from souvenirs, apparels to ornaments and exotic stuff. If you are to bargain make sure to visit all around and get the general idea. It even has a food section which we enjoyed, great meals with lots of choices at a reasonable pricing. Wouldn't say extraordinary, but well worth for what is paid.

Hi Chi Minh’s famous day and night market selling souvenirs, clothes, bags, shoes, and many other household items. There many local food and fruit stalls too. Shopper beware - Prices are very inflated, so be sure to bargain and start with half of the price quoted. Some sellers become aggressive and edgy, and what I don’t like is they touched my arm to get my attention. Not a pleasant experience. So just walk away when that happens. Otherwise this is a must visit for first timers to HCMC.

The market is colorfully for us foreigners, something picturesque, but all shops have been selling the same things for years, they have not updated products such as clothing, souvenirs, they have remained the same for years. You always have to haggle over the price, foreigners tend to offer up to 500% more expensive than the normal price.

It is better to go in a group than solo as you will be slightly harassed by vendors. You can bargain for souvenirs for a better price but I feel you can't get the best discount when doing solo. Furthermore, it seems every stall has the same connections whereby they will introduce other vendors to offer deals. I managed to get multiple fridge magnets and coffee. The place is a bit confusing at first but it is better to get lost so you can explore more. The establishment also serves food and drinks too but they missed my order after I waited for 30 minutes so I left. A bit disappointed but it is an opener for me.

More hustling than other places which brings down the score a little. Otherwise it's a fun market to spend time searching out souvenirs and getting a good deal. We bought some tea flowers which would be a great gift. Food and drinks are standard but nothing spectacular. Worth a visit since it's such a large market with heavy competition.

Very touristy place, famous for fruit, vegetables, street food and clothing. Heaps of people hustling and trying to see you their goods. There are two aisles of wet market and much more space for fruit and textiles. You can buy here souvenirs, traditional Vietnamese clothes and fake designer brand shoes, belts, tshirts, hand bags etc. Get ready for being constantly asked to buy staff from vendors.

Lots of food :)) don’t forget to bargain, because the first price they tell you is about 5-6 times more! Don’t be afraid to buy some local food, it is pretty good and fresh! Interesting place to spend some time. The food options are plentiful, fresh and cheap. Clothing and most other items there are overpriced even if they half their original asking price with claims of good luck sale. We bought some Vietnamese baggy pants and a T shirt there for what seemed a steal but found boutique stores selling the same for considerably less and better quality for only a bit more.

Wow wow wow. So much going on here. Lots of cool souvenir stuff. The vendors in the centre of the market literally tried to eat me for dinner, lol. After the initial shock of their aggressive behaviour, I kinda enjoyed the negotiating and banter. While leaving, vendors we're willing to cut prices to less than half to make a sale.

  • 4/5 MJ W. 5 months ago on Google
Super busy and be prepared to haggle and walk away. The vendors start very, very high, and come down eventually. Just remember, be firm, fair, and don't be rude. They will try for a high price, and there is always someone else willing to sell you the same thing. Know your prices.

Fun place to be. Even if you don't buy anything, worth soaking up the vibes and observe the hustle and bustle within the markets. Sellers not as aggressive as mentioned in previous reviews - perhaps it has toned down over time? A lot of items on sale here, so you can easily put aside an hour or more if you want to properly explore the area.

Unfortunately, we did not have a good experience here at all. We were here in the morning so I guessed sellers were still fresh and aggressive! We were touched and pulled (at our arms) to purchase goods. Goodness! Scary place!!! All enthusiasm to shop disappeared immediately!!! I ran out of the market!!! Fortunately, all the goods in this market can be found in all over the city so not a total loss 🤣

  • 3/5 Min 4 months ago on Google
The market had a mix of offerings - wet market, food section, and clothing/souvenir. The place, however, consisted mostly of counterfeit luxury goods that looked almost like its real luxury goods. However, we weren't looking for one so the market was pretty subpar. We bargained the prices to 1/3 of the original prices. The stall owners were more accommodating to lower prices after you buy 1-2 other items from them, especially if you buy in bulk. We had their milk coffee and coconut & they were reasonably priced and fresh.

Classic Vietnam. Culture food gifts haggling shopping fun! Watch when hailing cabs from here, scams galore. But the market itself is bustling and lovely. Prices should end up about 1/5 of asking on average. Lots of smiles and high starting prices but it is the way it is and it can be a ton of fun. Delicious dried fruit, spices, souvenirs, and tons more. The food court part is loaded with vegan options and smoothies for a reasonable price. All around the market outside are great shops as well, alongside massage and tour companies.

Gradually getting back to some form of normality. Many stores open now, but still have large numbers closed due to the Pandemic. Bargain hunters paradise, but be prepared to bargain hard and avoid any local who offer to show you things to buy and escort you to a remote shop. Usually these are people working on comission and will massively inflate the price. Average price for a locally made t-shirt is around 100,000 VND - these agents or reps take you somewhere and expect you to pay 800,000 for the same

  • 5/5 C T. 8 months ago on Google
You don’t find a shopping center like this anywhere but Vietnam. Vietnamese people keep tradition which still engages in buy and sell whatever they can to support living. They had been in this type of businesses for generations. You find almost everything the mechanize displayed in a extremely small shop, crowded with inventory. They sell you the prices that they expect you to negotiate. So do give offer before pay the price. Cho Bên Thành are now safe without any issues but always aware of your surroundings. You can enjoy unique clothes, homemade dry foods, all kind of gifts and cheap delicious restaurants.

  • 3/5 Edrie B. 1 year ago on Google
A very tourist-trap market but I would still recommend to go if you love bargaining/haggling. Be prepared to pay double of what you’d pay outside. So be sure your haggling skills are top notch! You can also make tailored clothing here which will be delivered to you the very next day to your hotel. The vendors are friendly and would give you “best price” if you come back.

Ben Thanh market houses Ho Chi Minh City’s second-largest indoor wet market. You can buy souvenirs, foods, drinks, clothes here. But you should bargain with the sellers, they are happy to provide more information, feel free to ask and bargain.

Both a wet and dry market selling souvenirs and coffee of every plantation here in Vietnam …. I am guessing. Usual touting its present so be ready to be highly prospected by the resident stalls! Pre Covid times will certainly be more active as only 40-60% of the stalls are open as of my visit in April 2022. Hope the business gets back in its feet for everyone!!!!

This is another shopping market popular to the area among tourists. It is very busy so hang on to your belongings. You can find everything under the sun. Be prepared to bargain and this is not for the faint of heart. Pricing starts extremely high, stand firm on your offer and be sure to negotiate and haggle on price. There are so many pushy and rude vendors. If you don’t buy, they get visibly upset. The prices are highest in the area. There are other markets in the area with friendlier stall owners. Try TAN DINH market.

You might find everything you need or want, but this is soooo much a tourist thing. I'm always feeling some kind of chased by the staff. Very expensive. Better get to another market, where the locals go. Good thing here: different choices of vegetarian dishes at the food corner. Good and fair prices for it.

What more do I need to describe this market and it’s environments. It’s a tourist trap with full of useless memorabilia and knock off merchandises. It’s wall-to-wall of vendors trying to make a buck. So, buyers be aware… if you are browsing and windows showing, then you are in a for a real treat. Otherwise, don’t waste your time… and move along.

The iconic clock tower at the entrance is symbolic of Ho Chi Minh city. This big market has 4 entries and a variety of products are sold here ranging from silk scarves, materials, lacquer ware, ceramics, fruits, clothing and accessories. After 6 pm it becomes a night market and has many food stalls where one can try local food. Beware. The scope of bargaining is huge and stuff may be cheaper in local shops outside Ben Thanh. This may just be one of those tourist traps.

Crazy busy markets. Not great if you’re easily overwhelmed. The market stall staff will grab your arms and try to pull you to their shop which is awful! You must haggle for a better price too, usually half or even less than what they originally offer

Yes it’s a tourist attraction but it doesn’t mean it’s not worth a visit. We enjoyed breakfast in the market and also the kumquat tea from one of the stalls. Also got to try the popular Luwak coffee and cashew nuts. If you’re going, best to check out the haggling/buying guide on TripAdvisor 😋

You can find most of the thing you need for Tet holiday and daily life here. Due to the Covid, Ben Thanh market is now about 60% of the one before Covid.

Very cool experience, super packed and has loads of stuff to chose from. Everything from clothing, shoes, souvenirs, bags, food (fresh & cooked), textiles, fabrics, etc. Prepare to haggle and bargain but you will always end up paying more than the local markets as its become very touristy. The sellers are also very pushy for a sale, some more than others but can be a bit much for some.

It’s a shopping maze, most of the shops are repeated but with huge variety of things to choose from like souvenirs/coffee/dried fruits. There is a eating area that serves local food, it’s not amazing but could be a quick snack when you are hungry after shopping. Foreigners beware of ‘special prices’, scout around/Compare prices first before buying the things you wanted.

Easily accessible market that sells almost everything that Saigon has to offer. Small narrow alleyway, big bags or luggages not recommended. Lots of food options at one part of the market. If it’s your first time here, it’s worth a visit. If the market doesn’t fancy you, you can walk out of the market to visit all the other shop houses in the vicinity.

I love the architecture of Ben Thanh Market. When i visit, the sky is soo pretty, contrast between blue sky and grey cloud. The space in front is sooo wide and spacious. For shopping in here, i prefer the fixed price section. They have selection of t shirt, clothes, acessories, keychain, jewelery box, magnets, embroidered pouch, exotic bags and travel bags. In the center of market, there is traditional foods, lotus nuts, but i have not tried. I can also pay in USD in here, and i think the rate is fair. The price is also fair compared to accessories shop near 5 star hotel (i forgot the name).

Famous tourist market. This is a market for haggling and enjoying the atmosphere, so even if the price is higher than the market price, you should think of it as the cost of the venue and entertainment. The cafeteria inside is also more expensive than the average price, but the food is good, so I recommend trying something at a restaurant with a lot of customers.

I’m a street market obsessed lover, so I really enjoyed the experience! Many options, cool place, kind staff, good food for the eyes and for all tastes! We tried the Thai booth, the Vietnamese, the fruits, a bit of everything! Very good and good prices!
