I visited Ho Chi Minh City in December 2023 and flew in and out of Tan Son Nhat International Airport. The airport is very busy and crowded, especially during peak hours. The immigration process was slow and tedious, and the staff were not very friendly or helpful. The airport facilities are outdated and poorly maintained, and the food and drink options are limited and overpriced. The WiFi was unreliable and the power outlets were scarce. The airport is close to the city center, but the traffic can be chaotic and unpredictable. I would not recommend this airport for long layovers or transit, and I hope they will improve their services and infrastructure in the future.

Really bad arriving experience for international visitors. Catching service car through apps (Grab, Gojek, etc.) here will be nightmare for them. From 15th April 23, they have to go to car parking lot for pick up point. Under the hot sun with luggages and things will be disaster for them. (Thinking of rainy days also guys). Now airport management messed up for this. After getting on car, have to wait for very long time to get to exit gate. Please help to share you thought of this so management could think about their managing method.

Clean, spacious, and well serviced. The immigration takes quite long... In order to take Grab car (taxi app with good price), plz come to Lane B Pillar 10 (Arrival gate) then waiting for the car coming. Very convenient.

Currently serves as an international and domestic airport (two separate terminals closely located next to each other). The international terminal is modern and clean. Check-in counters are usually efficient, but queues and waiting times at immigration and security are too long especially during peak times. So I recommend arriving 3 hours before flight time to ensure you get to your plane on time. There limited dining options outside the terminal, small food court inside after clearing customs and security. Some duty free shopping.

My experience at the Domestic Terminal of Hanoi's Tan Son Nhat Airport was a good one, drop off was smooth, no waiting, after checking in for my Vietjet flight to HCMC VJ131, I went to security checkpoint where there was about a 3 or 4 minute wait. The Government officer at the entry was pleasant and verified my boarding pass, Passport with my face. Full security scanning, was swiftly carried out, including removal of shoes, watch, belt. I was done in no time. There are a fair selection of shops for last minute gifts, several options for coffee and snacks including a Starbucks. Drink vending machines, electronic massage chairs, free drinking water refilling stations. Really compares well with other Domestic Terminals throughout Asia.

We arrived here in the early hours, managed to get some cash from the HSBC ATM, we were charged £4.50 😮. Then found the vietel SIM place but later discovered that they had sold me a vietnamobile SIM... Watch out, things are not always as they seem. The airport itself was good and friendly, we caught a grab taxi easily from here. Walk out towards the car park for the grab taxis. Beautiful plant displays in the airport building. On the way out, vietjet weighed our bags, we were charge an extra 200,000 vnd per carry on bag for being overweight (£6.50 per bag). Airport is nice but quite expensive for gifts etc, all priced in dollars. There was a water fountain after security 😊

Ho Chi Minh City Airport, officially named Tan Son Nhat International Airport, is a bustling hub that serves as the primary gateway to the dynamic city of Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam. The airport offers a modern and convenient travel experience, although it does come with its share of pros and cons. The airport's facilities are generally commendable. Its terminal boasts a contemporary design and is well-maintained, providing a clean and organized atmosphere for travelers. A variety of dining options ranging from local Vietnamese cuisine to international fast food chains are available, catering to different tastes. Shopping opportunities are also abundant, with duty-free shops and retail outlets offering a range of products. On the downside, the airport's popularity can lead to significant crowds, especially during peak travel times. This congestion might result in longer waiting times at security checkpoints and immigration counters, potentially causing some frustration for travelers in a hurry. Additionally, while efforts have been made to improve signage and wayfinding, navigating the airport can still be a bit confusing, particularly for first-time visitors. In summary, Ho Chi Minh City Airport provides a mix of positive and negative aspects. Its modern facilities, diverse dining options, and shopping opportunities contribute to a pleasant travel experience. However, the potential for crowds and the occasional difficulty in navigation might be minor drawbacks to consider. All in all, the airport serves its purpose well as a gateway to the vibrant city of Ho Chi Minh.

Came to visit Vietnam in 1996 and came back every second year if we can since. The airport has improved a lot, But one thing that hasn’t changed are the guys at the international arrivals checking your passport. These guys doesn’t seem to care about you or how long the queues are, it seems they’re only there for good look. We literally have to wait for at least 50 minutes plus before you get passed immigration. Come on guys at least try to work faster and smiles and greets your customers as we are the reasons that you have a job and have to booster your economy. I love this country and hope to come back soon and hope that service at the immigration section somehow improves. Domestic sections is pretty good in and out moves fairly fast.

A pretty airport that could do with some improvements. It caters to a lot of traffic. International tourists form a huge part of this, both from other Asian countries as well as from other parts of the world. I felt that a revamp was definitely needed if it wants to cater to international standards. Having said this, I will reiterate, it is a nice airport.

This airport situated in Ho chi minh city or we can say Saigon city , Saigon is the old name International Airport distance from city center around 6-7 kms if you are very rich you can book a taxi or Grab which will be cost you around 170000 vnd if you have not any problem with the local bus you can take bus no 109 city center to airport and the fare is 15000 vnd per person , bus no 109 is a mini van bus in orange color he is not looking like a normal bus so don't confuse when you are at bus stand , Tan Son Nhat International Airport operates from two terminal buildings – Domestic Terminal 1 and International Terminal 2. The new international terminal opened in September 2007 with the capacity of 8 to 10 million passengers per year, giving the airport a total capacity of 15-17 million passengers per year. They are not allowing water bottle at security check in so we careful when you purchase water bottle outside the airport

The airport is lot busier than 6 months ago, however it’s still good organised, spacious and clean. The domestic is quite busy in the early morning. The process is going quite well, moving quick despite long queues. Plenty of shops, restaurants, cafes inside the departure hall.

Planes take off and lands - so it looks like everything should be fine right? Not exactly... Dear administrator. - fix the water station - make a kiss & drive zone for grab/ Uber - organize better shuttle busses (so 10 last passengers doesn't have to wait in the heat for bus to make a round trip for them). Don't get me wrong time I spend there was pleasant, but there is also a massive field for improvements. For the good side + everything is within walking distance +more than expected souvenirs in decent prices.

The two terminals are night and day: Domestic is orderly, efficient, and easy to navigate due to its smaller size and focus on local travellers; International is a 'dog's dinner' to say least. Chaotic, sprawled, and clearly run by guards who assert power by keeping immigration lines waiting in ridiculously long queues. I'd recommend buying a mobile connection to pass the time passively. The connection paths are vaguely marked. Food in Domestic terminal hugely overpriced. Transport exits outside are well marked and easily accessible.

It is an ok airport. The airport itself is nice, but ... Traffic cannot be worse and checking cannot be more time consuming, so plan ahead to be here 4 hours at least for international flying. Be wait, don't be late. Unfortunately it is the only international airport in the south of Vietnam, so you will be there.

This Airport is a kind of boring international airport,20 years ago till now never changed a lot. Not for shopping purposes & not for gatheringpurposese. The lane of checkpoint is always crowded, and it takes time. If you can, please reach here 3 hours before boarding. Second is recently they block the grab taxi come in to pick up customer and you have order the super expensive taxi in the airport,so that you can cheating by them easily.except you can speaking vietnamese if not they will mark-up 300% for single trip. Third, if you are rich enough, then you can think about the restaurant inside there if no, I suggest you have lunch or breakfast on planes or outside. At least it will nodisappointng you. So other issues I think you will also know. No matter how much you complain, they will just ignore it and follow they way. Negara makan rasuah biasa la macam it. Tidak mau maju sekali gusnya

Super spacious. The officer's uniforms are very intimidating. Not sure why but must be the colours. The airport cafe/restaurant is great too. Simple as well.

there are just relatively little gangways that connect the airport directly to planes - it seems like almost all flights require a bus ride, sometimes up to 10 mins to connect to the plane. also no connection between the domestic and international terminals - you gotta walk out of one terminal along a sheltered walkway in the heat to reach another.

We missed our flight even though we were right in front of the gate. The ground staffs were shouting our names in english but we did not realize it was the final call. The immigration officer walked us out with unfriendly faces. No problem, we booked another flight for the next day. Anyway, I enjoyed myself in Ho chi minh. Thank you for the hospitality and great memories. I will be back again.

Aging and overstretched airport which is honestly trying to do the best it can. Its over capacity for many years, but it quite well organized, easy to navigate and everything is well maintained given its age. There could be massive queues at passport control and security, coming last minute before the flight is very risky. Plenty of food and beverage options, heavily skewed to asian cuisine. Vietnam Airlines lounge is just adequate.

It's amazing that this is an international airport. It's fine overall and you'll get where you're going... But it's just such a stark difference to others. Totally bizarre.

Worst airport ever !! Wanted to claim my tax refund I (bought a perfume 100ml) the information counter said has to checked in into luggage and go to door 7-8 (after immigration and security check) to claim the refund. I have told the information counter that I bought a perfume. After passing the immigration and the security check. I went to the tax refund place I’m shocked they wanted to see the goods I bought . The experience was extremely terrible ! Information counter, customs and the tax refunds officers all gave different infos. FYI, I have traveled to many countries before and by far this is the worst airport ever. No charging port, information counter not fluent in English, no place to rest for long haul flight, long que at the immigration counter and many more ! Also on their maps their tax refund counter was before the immigration and security check. Don’t be fooled with this as they have moved inside. A cheeky way to scam tourists!! Also lots lots and lots of PAPERWORK! Korea was the best I got immediate refund immediately after I purchase the goods

Tan Son Nhat international airport is one of the largest airport in Vietnam. It is located approximately 6 to 7 KMs from Ho Chi Minh city centre. The immigration process was slow and the staff were not that friendly. Tan Son Nhat international airport operates from two terminals - Domestic Terminal 1 and International Terminal 2. The taxi and city buses are available to commute from the airport to the city centre.

Very busiest airport have ever seen recent days and fully crowded with international travellers. Architecture was superb and many shops to buy Vietnamese products.

  • 5/5 HT 1 year ago on Google
Clean, huge, and neat, but need to make the immigration counters faster, and it is also a bit hot inside, and be prepared to queue for at least an hour if there is more than 1 flight arriving at the same time.

No air conditioning totally inappropriate for International Airport ! Travelers should avoid this city ever coming to Vietnam ! Gates 1 through 10 in your domestic area are hot and sticky and sweaty just like they were when I did your last one star review 2 years ago. The air is not dry it's blowing wet sticky air humidity is 60% ridiculous! This is how you cause senior citizens to have heart attacks carrying luggage!

Aiyaaa if I could save the airport picture which is 12 years ago, I think it would be very very nice memory here. I see this airport from non-build until it become a big international airport, and watching GDP of Vietnam keep rising it’s really happy, because I love Vietnam so much. People are friendly, easy to make friend, I think I have more Vietnamese friend than in my own country Malaysia. Full of schedule every time I fly to Vietnam. In 2023 I really all in to Vietnam. I make my new passport after Covid-19, passport have 50 pages and 21 pages all fly in Vietnam in just this year hahahah! Well, my first video seems like the airport is keep expanding. Within to see more bigger airport soon. Welcome to Vietnam ! ——-END——- Hey hey follow my Instagram to make friend : bryankow0608 ✌️ If you love my sharing, you can follow me on Google Account too 🥰 I’m Malaysian who love Vietnam very much. I would love to share more amazing place to visits in Vietnam and give my honour review in Google. Peace 🫶 Disclaimer : this is not a paid post. I would just share my real review. 😉

Arrived, go to right, walking around 100m, on the left there will be the immigration, all people taking in line n wait. What I don't like is the immigration male staff who is standing near the biometric registration too often yelling (or maybe it's person character speak loud - I don't know exactly how to describe it). The immigration process is simple and fast. But for me I think this airport need to place more clear and big sign! After I passed immigration, I even don't know where to go next until I saw there's only 1 elevator to get down to first floor. After in first floor all the exit sign seems magically disappeared because some other big stuff block the sign. Please put the exit sign where people can see easily when they still in the elevator! And also the parking car, honestly they need to place more parking light because for me it still too dark and it's risk for safety concern! If I'm not using led bracelet in parking area the grab driver will be harder to find me even my phone have compass! And the departure area, it's also simple airport, but yet for me this airport need more seats near the check-in area. And above all why I gave 2 stars because the airport wifi is slow and the signal coverage not too good plus I never see any airport staff smile to any visitors! Why is so hard to give smile as welcome sign? It's like a sincere from the heart to say thank you for visiting Vietnam? Smile is global 'language', please try to give smile, it's not a sin 🙏🏼

Tan Son Nhat International Airport falls short in terms of customer service amenities. The retail outlets resemble a sparsely stocked night market, and the customs area operates at a notably slow pace. There is a notable absence of priority lanes for elderly passengers, unless specifically requested for wheelchair assistance ahead of the flight. Improvement in these areas could significantly enhance the overall airport experience.

Additional, very thorough check of hand luggage at the gate!! All liquids must be thrown away, even the ones bought inside the airport. No water-refill, prices for water in Dollar and overpriced. Never experienced a similar procedure before.

An airport where you can find everything that you need before your departure or after your arrival. Transportation between the domestic and international terminals is quite funny cuz you have to leave the building and then check in again, but you will handle it definitely 💪 The international terminal is comfortable even for a long layover cuz there is even a sleeping zone. Thank you 🦩🥥

The domestic terminal was a bit dirty and had a certain smell. The security line was also long. Nothing to complain about the international terminal though. They have a paid service where they wrap tape all over your luggage if you want additional security.
