👍👍 Small but good museum. It was reasonable to get in. I believe 40k for each adult, but they do charge 20k extra if they see you have a camera. I'd say you could spend 1hour if you breeze through everything or 2 hours if you took your time. It's semi-outdoors throughout, so I'd recommend wearing light... People often mention museum, history, wedding, visit, Vietnam, great, good, time, culture, building,

This museum has the collections of war history and Vietnamese culture. The whole building is huge with European style. It's worth to visit once. However, the collections need to maintain in a better quality and they shouldn't allow people to have pre-wedding photo activity.

I had a positive experience at the Museum, a walk around the Museum grounds is a journey through time and several historical aircraft and tank plus other armourments make for a great afternoon, make the effort to locate the bunker and tunnels beneath the Museum. Well worth the 35,000 VD gate fee.

The presence of numerous individuals engaged in wedding photography at the museum significantly affected the overall visitor experience. While weddings are undoubtedly special occasions, their frequent occurrence within the museum premises may disrupt the tranquil atmosphere that visitors typically seek when exploring cultural and historical exhibits. Moreover, it was evident that many of the exhibits were in need of maintenance. The lack of proper upkeep was noticeable, and the overall environment appeared somewhat neglected and, regrettably, unclean. This detracted from the museum's appeal, as it is crucial for such institutions to maintain a pristine and inviting atmosphere for their patrons. Additionally, the absence of air conditioning posed a considerable challenge, particularly in hot weather. The discomfort of a warm and stuffy environment can impact one's ability to fully engage with the exhibits and absorb the historical and cultural knowledge on display. The museum could greatly enhance the visitor experience by addressing these environmental concerns and prioritizing the maintenance of its exhibits to ensure they remain in optimal condition for all who wish to explore its offerings.

We would honestly give it a 3.5/5. It's a great museum with great information provided, but there's a lack of engagement with the visitors. But it is a great place for people who love to understand Vietnamese culture and history. Although it may not offer a wide range of attractions, the museum's focus on culture and beliefs provides visitors with a unique perspective on Vietnam. One of the highlights of the museum is its collection of military transportation, which showcases the country's military history. Furthermore, the museum's affordable admission fees make it accessible to everyone. Locals can often be seen taking photos around the museum, adding to its charm. Overall, the Ho Chi Minh City Museum provides a valuable educational experience that is well worth a visit. I was able to take a leisurely stroll through the museum. It's a museum that feels old, but it's worth a visit. I was intrigued by the many banknotes issued in Vietnam and their history.

Too many girls, photographers and photoshooting assistants won't allow you to roam quietly and freely through the museum. The place is rather small.

A great place to peek into the past of Vietnam and its culture. Overall, it was a good tour and we saw some fascinating things. But we felt the experience could have been made better. The central staircase was arguably the most beautiful part of the building and was occupied by an ongoing wedding photoshoot. The koi pond at the back was definitely a great place to sit and chill for a few minutes.

The entrance fee is 30,000 Dong or less than USD2. There is not much exhibit; only old maps of Saigon, traditional costumes, coins, old household artifacts. Apparently, it's a popular wedding shoot location, as there were 2 photoshoots going on when we went. You may skip this museum if you have other things in your itinerary.

This museum focuses on the history, culture and economics of Saigon throughout its history. While some of the exhibits are dated and, at times, inadvertently creepy, I thoroughly enjoyed wandering throughout this old French colonial mansion and perusing the displays on Vietnamese currency, matrimonial customs, and wildlife of the city. Worth a few hours of your time!

This is one of Ho Chi Minh City's many museums.   And it is one of the more historical ones. Built in 1890, it was once named named the Gia Long Palace - after the founding emperor of tue Nguyen dysnasty a.ka. Vietnam's last dynasty. This temporarily served as the Presidential Palace back in 1962 after the old Presidential Palace was bombed.   In 1963, it was here where President Diem was before he went to the Cha Tam Church to hide (he was assasinated shortly after). The highlight of the building is the beautiful spiral staircase in the middle.  The French style windows are also gorgeous. It also houses a lot of artifacts and photo displays that reflect the old Vietnamese way of life.  Among the displays that interested us are the old historical notes and coins. Outside the palace are some tanks and aircraft the Americans left during the war.  The spoils of war as some would call it. Their is also a nice old black car at near the gate entrance. Therr are not a lot of tourists that comes here.  But the place does have a lot of photo and Instagram opportunities.   During our visit, we saw at least two couples having their pre-nuptial photo shoots. PRO TIP:  It's a must visit in Saigon if you are planning to stay in Saigon for more than 5 days.

It's just a small museum I can say. During my visit, too many peoples are there for taking photos either for wedding or some of occasion which is kind a bit uncomfortable for the visitors to enjoy their visit to the museum. Overall is OK.

Gia Long Palace, now officially the Ho Chi Minh City Museum is a historical site and museum in Ho Chi Minh City/Saigon, Vietnam. The museum is situated at the corner of Lý Tự Trọng and Nam Kỳ Khởi Nghĩa streets, located on 2 hectares of land, near the Independence Palace

Awesome. If you want to understand about the history of Vietnam, this museum is recommended. In addition to one of tourist attractions in HCMC, we met many people there to prepare their wedding. Nice experience :)

Nice small museum, covers Vietnamese history from currency to culture, from French colonial era to the war between north south and the US. Entrance fee is 30k VND as of 11/2022. Many people come to have photo shoot in the museum.

A variety of exhibits from various eras of Vietnam, which are quite interesting. For me however, the real star of the show is the building itself. A beautiful old French palace, which has served various purposes since its construction, with original doors, shutters and fixtures throughout most of the interior. A popular photo spot with the locals.

Museum is not so huge. It’s for max 1,5 hours. Most of it is old. I missed some interactions. There is no air conditioning. Only fans. It was super hot inside.

visiting this museum equal to visiting ho chi minh city. You can learn about their story and history, their pass and their present from this museum. Unique architecture and so many couples come here to take their wedding picture. Entrance fee is not expensive at all, and it’s a great place to bring kids too. A must visit I could say.

Well organised museum that is right in the centre of the city. It has a beautiful staircase where wedding photoshoots routinely happen from what I could gather!

This museum provides a deep dive into Ho Chi Minh City and Vietnam’s rich history. Predominantly centered around the Vietnam War, you can expect to see US military equipment like helicopters, fighter jets, and tanks showcased. A collection of unique artefacts inside the museum further illuminates the country’s past. A must-visit spot for gaining insights into Vietnam’s transformative journey. Ideal for travelers seeking a deeper understanding of their host country.

Worth visiting. A local museum about the city's history and culture. Beautiful colonial building. Gives you a better understanting about Ho Chi Minh city, there are bits of everything. Don't expect too much. A bit run down, there are handfuls of popped up tiles, mostly on the second floor. A favorite photoshoot location for wedding, prenups, graduation, etc..

This museum is good, but not great. Most of the exhibits are translated to english, but it is fairly outdated. There were also a bunch of photoshoots going on which got in the way of walking around the museum and grounds. But, I'd say it's a good cheap way to use a couple hours of time.

Pros - building is nice, there are toilets inside and shaded from the sun. Cons - Ticket lady was very rude, exhibits were like something you would find in a skip, layout and organisation is a bit confused. People were actually touching the canvases of the paintings, most people however were only interested in taking selfies. It was only 30000 dong to go in, worth it to get out of the sun or use the toilet 😂 otherwise spend the money on something else.

Rating is relative to the location and expectations. So yeah, 4 stars. This isn’t like a museum with unlimited resources including content. It’s a good museum for learning some history and seeing artifacts. The reviewers complaining about the wedding photos need to just go back home. It’s a beautiful staircase for photos and there’s nothing stopping you from using the other staircases. Embrace your location and the locals. My wife loved the wedding dresses as much as anything else.

Interesting museum which showcases the history, culture and development of the country including geographical landscape, nature elements and economic growth through the years pre and post Vietnam war.

It is nice place to see and learn more about history. But it is so annoyed with people who made wedding photos. They put their stuffs on the way, took the walking way, even hard to cross them. We also don't want to be in their photos. I think they should have time on day only for shooting. So it doesn't disturb people who just want to visit the museum.

The museum is divided into 2 levels, not really much to see. The ground floor have 5 rooms whereas the 2nd level have 4 rooms for special exhibition. Took me an hour plus to finish the walk around. A nice place for couples to take their wedding photos 😊

It makes you feel like crying. Donations for entry is very low. Equipment was kept from the war. Some equipment was discovered recently. People are also taught to be self-sufficient. I hope more nations can learn from these.
