Suspect this is a place the locals would frequent (we were interstate visitors). We went for breakfast based on Google reviews. Tucked away in a hole in the wall, we literally sat around a rustic kitchen island with the Chef in his element. Didn't really order off a menu, just had a chat with the chef and he whipped up some bacon and eggs, omlette, fritters etc... Good coffee too! Loved the vibe there🤘

Comfortable and friendly space. I enjoyed a coffee before work and will need to come back for a dinner service - it smelt so good!!! Food review coming soon…

Incredible, had perfect mushroom omlette and a carrot cake muffin. Generous portions and good value. A hidden gem of Hobart. Like eating in a friends kitchen. Small family operation. Went 6 months ago and had to double check and yep, the best meal of the trip. Coffee really good too.

Home made food cooked on the spot for you. We had a beautiful pasta and tiramisu, and an entertaining chat with the owner. We also left with a few cooking tips. It was a bit on the pricy side though.

We loved hanging out at Eds when we were recently in Hobart. The coffee is great and all the food we tasted was delicious. It was very cool being able to watch Ed cooking whist having a chat. We were only in Tasmania for 5 days and we went to Eds 3 times ☺

Enjoyed the latte n mocha. Amazing carbonara and meatballs. Friendly service and interesting to see the chef in action. Sitting space is undeniably limited. Back again in December 2022 to enjoy this delightful place. Try the tiramisu and chinotto beverage.

Couldn't recommend Ed's highly enough. Coffee was the best we've had in Australia - nice and strong. And the food was made fresh in front of us while we were entertained with some great yarns. One of the highlights of our trip to Hobart and will definitely be coming back.

Quaint little cafe ran by Ed and Peter. Food, atmosphere and service is absolutely amazing. Whether you want some quiet time and great coffee or a great chat with the guys and amazing food, this is definitely the place to go. Will definitely be back the next time I’m in Hobart.

The restaurant I always dreamed of. Small but powerful. Bolognese was so rich and handmade pasta was amazingly delicious. Coffee… Was like heaven. Would visit again soon.

Great coffee and tasty food cooked in front of you. The atmosphere is magic, you really feel like home. Watching Pete cooking and preparing dishes is like a cooking show! Even if you’re not a local, they always make you feel welcome. We had polenta cake, ricotta and hazelnut cake and they were to die for! We also ordered bacon egg roll and fritters and they were delicious too. We’ll definitely come back to try rosti and pasta 😉

Watch Peter whip up a fabulous pasta dish. He's right in front of you in this tiny little ristorante. It's like sitting in the middle of a top class cooking show where you can get a handle of brilliant cheffing techniques

I was looking for a new go to for breakfast when I am in Hobart on business and found it! If you ate comfortable sitting at a large bench with the cook on the other side and the coffee machine not far away this is one one of the most interesting places in the world I have eaten in. The food was amazing the coffee was great and know all their customers by name as they got to the front take away window for coffee and what they want as the barista was already making their coffee before they got there. Great little spot but be prepared for lots of talking in a small space so if you want quiet and space don't go here if you want service quality food and coffee here is your go to.

Had lunch yesterday and it was wonderfully delicious! Fresh pasta made in front of you, wonderful sauce and friendly ambience. Not quick but very much worth it. Best Italian I’ve had in years - thanks Ed!

This cafe is the definition of classics done well. Every element to the meal was cooked to perfection - I highly recommend the Rosti meal. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, making you feel like your visiting your friends kitchen and sitting down to watch them cook. There’s limit seats but that’s what keeps this Ed’s cafe feeling like a home.
