I’m not even sure where to begin. My friends and I ordered chicken wings, the spicy shrimp tacos and a cheeseburger. All of our meals were absolutely terrible! The chicken wings were undercooked and lacked flavor. The same went for the shrimp. It was supposed to be spicy? Not at all. How are those even supposed to be tacos. The cheeseburger was burned on the outside and undercooked on the inside. This will be our first and last time ordering food from here. Note: Pics of the wings and cheeseburger were not attached as they were thrown in the garbage.

We ordered take out. The taste and quality of the entirety of our order did not meet what you'd expect from a restaurant like this. It was nowhere near what you would expect for the price. The hamburgers were undercooked and small. The online ordering does not offer a choice of temperature for the burgers, and they were borderline medium at best. The wings were barely sauced, overcooked, and quite small. Tough and lacked much flavor. However, the sides of broccoli that accompanied our children's orders should have been thrown in the trash rather than cooked and served. The broccoli itself was spoiled. As you can see in the picture it looks less than appetizing, but the smell of it was horrible. It made us wonder about the quality and safety of the rest of the food we had. You would have saved a star or two had it not been for the broccoli. Such a shame to lose a customer and receive a bad review over something as little and simple as broccoli, but that is what happens when the food you prepare does not even meet minimum standards of what is expected.

It was super painful to eat here today, and sit on patio and watch 3 empty tables sit their dirty and empty for over 45 mins. Even more painful to watch customer after customer get up and walk to adjacent restaurants because they had so much frustration over the lack of teamwork here as well I am assuming. Management, why aren't you here helping your staff and giving better direction before your wonderful restaurant gets run into the ground? The food was delicious and large quantity, and the server was super nice and didn't put our drinks on our tab. However, super under-staffed and communication between staff and hostess is non existent. I blame management.

Juicy steak doesn’t make a good steak. It’s very bland and disappointing. I asked for medium, it’s medium well at best. I should of known the steak was gonna be not good when the bar tender gave me A1 the second after I ordered. Not worth $12 let alone $25. The fries are also below average. Overall, don’t recommend the steak. Bartender loves the left side of the bar, also loves to ignore the right side so do not sit on the right side of bar. You ever stare at a bar tender, hand raised, for 10min straight and she completely ignore you. All I want is a box. I feel bad, I just called over her,” I NEED A BOX,” but god damn. Bland fries are still fries

Son and I enjoyed dinner here today. John, our host was just exceptional. Food came out as described in menu. Atmosphere is very lively too.

Stopped for a late lunch. Two of us and were seated at a high top near the bar. Was waited on by the bar tender. He didn't hear us when we said we were ready to order so gave us a few minutes to decide. Gave us at least 10 minutes, too long. Order was correct and food was very good. But then we kept waiting for our bill. After waiting for over 15 minutes after we finished our food, I finally went to the bar to ask for our bill. Otherwise was a good place with lots of TVs set to lots of sports and a couple to other types of programs.

Just let the picture show you what to expect from your “Walmart Quality hamburger Bun”. My burger was supposed to come with a stack of onion straws. My burger had onion scraps. The chilli was served cold… again! Over charged us for our salad (they charged us for protein. Meanwhile, we requested no protein) this was because the service was subpar. They have drink refills, but please drink your soda sparingly because they will never refill it until you hint for a random server to help you. My wife got a chicken meal that looks like a kid’s chicken fingers meal. Would only eat here again, if I absolutely have to.

Came for trivia night. Trivia was fun, but our food took like 45 minutes and the food was disappointing. Tater tots tasted like burned oil. Wings were good and nice for 75¢ each. We had a nice server, but it just wasn't the most pleasant experience

Fine place to go for some basic tavern fare. The service was quick and our waitress was very nice and attentive. The food was a bit lackluster, especially for the pricing. For those who want to go to a tavern to watch some sports, there are plenty of TVs, but most weren't working (may have been because of the rainstorm). Good atmosphere, things were relatively calm even though it was decently busy. I ordered Linda's Turkey Melt, which had good turkey but needed some pickles or a good sauce, something to add a bit more to it than just turkey and cheese and onion. Hubby got the Philly, which was ok. There was no seasoning and the veggies were overcooked so they were rather soft. Kiddos got the mac'n'cheese and the chicken quesadilla. The Mac looked exactly like boxed Kraft Mac. At least the quesadilla was pretty filled with chicken. All the sides were kind of meh, and everything was pretty heavy on salt. The tater tots were the best side, probably because hubby ordered them extra crispy. My tavern chips were mostly floppy, so they were deep fried enough. And the fries could have used a bit longer deep frying as well.

All the bartenders here are outstanding, especially Zeke. He is a people person who really understands the business. I have been coming here for years and it just keeps getting better because of him. Keep up the great work. #Trump2024🇺🇸

My wife and I visited Hickory Tavern for the first time last night. I was a bit surprised that a sports bar was empty on a Saturday night during college football season. We were seated right away by a host, but waited nearly 15 minutes for a waiter/waitress to attend to us. We noticed that out of the entire restaurant, there were only two waitresses working all 8 tables that had guests. Along with two waitresses, there was one bartender, and then about 4 guys (waiters?) who were just...standing there. Not working, not checking on guests. They were just standing near a table, on their phones, and occasionally looking at us and other guests. As we were about to say "screw it" and leave, a waitress came over to apologize for the long wait, say there was some "confusion" in the kitchen, and got out drink order. Then, one of those guys that had just been standing there not working appeared with an order of "complimentary" BBQ nachos and gave them to us. We ate those while watching football. Waitress came back 5 minutes later with our waters, and got our food order. After she wrote it down, she warned us that the kitchen is "slow." We noticed our drinks had been sitting at the bar for about 10 minutes before our waitress noticed and brought them to us. Our food came out at a reasonable time, and it was okay. Our waitress didn't check on us while eating our food. We noticed that she wasn't at any other table either. We finished our food, continued to watch football, and waited another solid 10 minutes before our waitress asked if we wanted our check. We said yes, and she responded "I'll get that as soon as I can." Which we would've understood if she was busy attending other tables...but she wasn't. She just went back to the kitchen and disappeared for another 5-10 minutes. During that time, we noticed a party of 4 had come in and had the same issue as us -- waited 15 minutes for a waitress to even get their drink order. As they were about to say "screw it" that one guy (I'm starting to wonder if he was the manager?) came by and gave them "complimentary" beers to make sure they stayed. We completely understand a restaurant being short-staffed! But maybe management should look into the fact that it's a bad look when you only have two waitresses (who just vanish for 10-15 minutes at a time) three hosts/hostesses, and then four people just...standing there not doing anything the entire night. I see some of the other recent reviews from people saying food and service is GREAT. Maybe we just caught you on a bad night? We might give it a second chance.

Ordered Cobb salad.. has no blue cheese, no avocado, no bacon. Also this salad was supposed to come with fried chicken and they sent BBQ chicken. This is a 17.00+ salad and they couldn’t get it right.

Stopped by for a late lunch. Although not busy, the hostess was not very helpful. However, the waitress was helpful and attentive. I ordered a Reuben sandwich and it was great. And the French fries were fine just right. I sat outside on the patio. Inside, if you choose, there is plenty of seating and a full service bar.

We have gone to Hickory 4-5 times and it seems to go down hill each time. Tonight’s to go order was missing a lot of ingredients stated on each item depiction. No chicken on the chicken nachos. Smokehouse burger was missing the mushrooms and onion straws. Chicken tender were burnt along with very little sweet potatoe fries. For the money we did not receive the quality or the quantity as if we were in the restaurant. Not sure what’s going on with Hickory Tavern in Holly Springs. It’s getting worse and worse lately

Julia, our waitress, was terrific, cheerful and attentive. We felt welcome. Patio had nice music. Beer was fresh. Pretzel bites were good. Tasty options.

This is my first time trying this place and I loved it! My server, Daniel, was polite and very kind. He gave me recommendations on what to try. I enjoyed the wings. The bartender, Laura, was amazing as well. I will definitely be making this my go to spot from now on!

This place could be great if they could get the service better and more consistent. At least twice we have walked in only to be greeted by...no one. Empty desk, and stood there over 5 minutes. That's just completely unacceptable. The servers are hit and miss. Have had really good ones, and some bad ones. The food has actually been really good, so it's just a service issue keeping this from being a favorite.

Kari was amazing!! Excellent service. Catered to our needs with 4 kids and 4 adults! Very friendly. Oh and the food was amazing! Get the shrimp and nacho appetizer! Fiesta salad and burger were great too. Will be back again soon!!

First time dining at a Hickory Tavern. Good, solid dinner (fish tacos, chili, burger) at a reasonable price. Enjoy the option of a choosing between a 6 oz or 9 oz wine pour. Love that all the team members take ownership of your dining experience from host, to waitress (Jessica) and food runner. Everyone wants to make sure you have a great meal and evening out. Thank you!

All of the food I had was very tasty. Everyone at our table enjoyed their meal. I loved the menu and all the variety. I wanted to order so many different things. When we recently went (beginning of January 23) they were having a rough day. They were down servers and bartenders and the ticket machine stopped working. But the manager came over to our table multiple times to kindly apologize, ask if we needed anything, and was very helpful. Our server (I think her name was Desi maybe) was amazing. She was so sweet and ran around a lot for us. I can’t wait to go back to try something else on the menu and hope they are having a better day.

The Hickory Tavern is the kind of place you go to once to try and than keep coming back to every week. The great atmosphere and food definitely help with this. However, what brings me back every week is servers like Emily. I have never experienced a kinder, more attentive, and easy to get a long with waitress in my life. If you go to this restaurant I recommend requesting a table with Emily to ensure you leave with a smile on your face and a new friend.

Came in Saturday night and sat on the patio. Service is normally good but this Saturday was fantastic. We had seen Sandra there before but this was the first time she waited on us. She was really great and the owner/manager should know. She is friendly, will talk to you like a person not just a customer (not just someone working for a good tip). AND she was always moving, staying busy. We never waited for drink refills. Sandra is the best! Of course we will be back (we are regularly). If we call in advance can we request her? Thank you!

The food was very good. Fast service. The waitress, Corrine, was attentive and made sure I had refills. She did an excellent job even with it busy that evening. Love the wall to wall tvs above the bar.

I always enjoy my meals at Hickory Tavern. The food is good but it's the servers and employees that keep me coming back. I usually order their quesadillas for an appetizer and a sandwich for my main course but this last time I tried the Cedar Salmon. The salmon was very tasty but overcooked by about one minute that took it from 5 out of 5 to a 3 out of 5. I take 2 points off based on the fact that salmon is very easy to cook properly and when overcooked, like the one I was served, is easy to see from looking at it. It never should have been sent out that way and leads me to believe that whoever was cooking that day is not a real chef. Don't get me wrong, it was still delicious but, would have been perfect if cooked to the proper temperature. I will return, often, since I enjoy the atmosphere, employees and the food

My family and I had an amazing dining experience here. Really it was all thanks to our amazing server Sandy! It was our first time there and she definitely made us want to come back again! She was very warm and welcoming and I hope to be seated at one of her tables next time. She was so patient and kind, definitely on top of things when we were in need of anything during our meal. The food and atmosphere was good but having a great server really just makes the dining experience so much better!!
