Loved this place so much. Anywhere that brings history to life in such an amazing way gets my vote. Spent 3-4 hrs here, including lunch. Staff were super friendly and informative.

Interesting old buildings assembled to resemble an old village. Some scattered people in period dress demonstrating crafts of old and giving historical background. It's amazing that several of the buildings are so old and transported from far away to be part of this exhibit. Worth a detour.

Interesting place, plenty of information cards. We only covered the town and saw 3 re-enactors, maybe we expected more as it was the weekend. Highlight for us was the lady in the old cottage cooking soda farls,, the old cinema and the printing g press. We were impressed with the cafe, great food quality, friendly staff and the room was a good size.

We attended the Museum for Halloween. There was a couple of activities for kids to do and adults and staff to interact with. We learnt about crab apples and smashed them to get the seeds. We met a couple of actors in the village either eerie stories and seen all the houses and followed the turnip trail. Very enjoyable I just wish we had came earlier and the Transport Musuem was open also.

Set in a beautiful wooded countryside setting ,the Ulster Folk Museum is just like stepping back into the days of your Irish ancestors ! It is described on the Folk Museum website as ... ----- "Journey back in time to rediscover Ulster as it was over a century ago. Explore rolling hills of countryside and a bustling town filled with authentic period buildings. See daily demonstrations of traditional crafts from basket weaving to printing and meet the costumed guides bringing it all to life. Your favourite stories and objects are waiting for you." ----- It DEFINATELY does not disappoint! It is laid out as a combination of rural towns and farm houses, from all over the North of Ireland -each building brought stone by stone and reconstructed exactly as they originally were in situ which manages to create a real atmosphere and feeling of walking and on the worn cobblestones and in the rooms that still hold the presence of those long gone, but who shaped who we are today. There are also displays of making traditional food and exhibitions of traditional crafts and old traditions and a few different places to eat. It is a great day out in a lovely setting for walks with pets and children. Go early and have a full day to see everything, as a lot of the little farmhouses are set as they originally would have been - out of the way up little lanes. There are also free mobility scooters for those who may need them( advisable to ring and reserve one) and a carer gets free entry -(I think the disabled person does too) Can't recommend this experience enough-it really is memorable. 5 star!

Enjoyable walks into a period of history! Lovely walks and it's nice to be able to feel like a place isn't ruined by technology! Make sure you check out the fella who weaves all sorts of magic!

Visited with my 9 year old granddaughter who loves history. She really enjoyed seeing the sort of house her great great grandparents lived in!! There was so much to see and we got lots of information from the very helpful staff. Great cafe, shop and lots of toilets along the way!

Always an amazing experience at the National Museums Northern Ireland site - they have some great special events on over the year and this was an MG day. The site is great, actors/staff - amazing...a great day out to wander around and get lost in local history with or without the family. Plenty of places to chill & have a picnic or go enjoy the coffee shop or sweet shop :-) Well recommended for anyone - we have been multiple times and will continue to revisit. A gem in Northern Ireland.
