I used to live in Hong Kong 16 years ago and Stanley Market back then was always thriving. Visited again on a trip to HK and sadly many of the stores were closed up the Friday I was there. It's probably down to the pandemic killing business combined with super high store rental costs. It's still a fun place to visit though, with plenty of stores to poke around in. You can easily spend a couple of hours here.

In normal times, the Stanley Market is one of the buzzing, busy street market scenes filled with tourists and curious locals. It is a fun place to spend a couple hours in the leisurely seaside community of Stanley on the southern shores of Hong Kong Island. Unfortunately, with tourists pretty much boxed out of Hong Kong because of the Covid-19 pandemic, the market is basically dead. Passed by on a Saturday afternoon recently and found only a few people amidst mostly empty shops lining the market street. A sad scene and something hard to imagine when recalling past visits, navigating through shoulder-to-shoulder pedestrian traffic and shops stuffed with shoppers. Not this year I'm afraid.

Stanley Market is a popular shopping destination located on the south coast of Hong Kong Island. It features an array of shops selling a variety of products including clothing, accessories, souvenirs, and art Visitors can also enjoy the picturesque seafront promenade, as well as nearby attractions such as the Stanley Plaza and Murray House. The market is known for its bustling atmosphere and bargaining opportunities, making it a must-visit for tourists and locals alike

Stanley market is a nice place to spend an afternoon. Whether you're there to shop, eat, or play, I think anyone would enjoy the area it has to offer. After shopping at some local shops, we stopped for a quick lunch by the seaside with a nice view of the ocean. More shops can be found in the mall area and the bus stops to return to the city near the mall.

I thought prices were very touristy but surprisingly, prices are lower than that of the stalls in Mongkok. You can still haggle but not much as prices were already lower.

This is the place I fall in love with since I arrived in Hong Kong at 1996. The quite place and peaceful with some shop's around. It's very sad that due to Covid pandemic, many shop closed and it's very empty. I hope that all this will pass and people's will come again here 🙏

We went on a Wednesday afternoon and the scene was pretty dead, with many shops closed. Those that were open sold common knick knacks, clothes and paintings similar to Ladies Market. The bus ride to Stanley was enjoyable and scenic though.

Great sea-side market with a lovely French bakery, Pane e Latte! Bus 260 takes you there.

Haven’t been there for ages! The things sell in the market are slightly different than other local markets such as ladies market or temple market. Quite a nice visit!

The market place used to have a number of shops selling paintings and artwork but now left 3-4 shops. Very sad to see the place affected and many shops are vacant. Hope this little alley can regain its past vibrancy soon with more tourists arrival.

We stayed in Central 中环… after doing some research, we decided to take a taxi to Stanley Plaza and from there it was a walking distance to Stanley Market. The market is full of interesting things, especially the colourful writing as you can see from my video. Prices are non-negotiable for most of the times.

Stanley Market is a market with many stalls filled mostly with clothes, souvenirs and paintings. At some stalls paintings are original, at some the paintings look like mass-produced, however they are offered at a great price and after all are hand-made, so it's still a great deal. The souvenirs sold here are in good prices, they're more attractive than in the city center.

Nice and open space area, distanced from the city. 30min from Central, you can enjoy the view and relaxing moment. Bars a and restaurants are waiting for you to chill with drinks. It has street market and mall seperately. Good for walking around.

Tons of shops to go to, amazing prices, and can bargain at all street shops. The restaurants are a bit highly priced, howeverC i’d highly recommend “bakehouse” for their pastries are the best!

Had an exceptional visit to Stanley Market! Nestled in the quaint village of Stanley, this market is a treasure trove of trinkets, silk garments, souvenirs, and traditional Chinese crafts. Unlike the usual hustle and bustle of Hong Kong markets, Stanley's vibe is more relaxed, making browsing a true pleasure. The array of shops offers something for everyone—my personal favorite was the intricate artwork and the calligraphy brushes. There's also a good selection of eateries where you can grab a bite with a view of the sea. Prices here are reasonable, and while some haggling is expected, the merchants are friendly and not overly pushy. It's the perfect spot for finding unique gifts and enjoying a day away from the city's frenzy. The market is easily accessible by bus, which provides a scenic route along the coast. Highly recommend for a taste of local culture and a more laid-back shopping experience!

There are many buses that go to Stanley Market . It's a nice place to spend a half day. Do some local shopping, then have your lunch there.

It's a historic town of colonial and southern Chinese culture, beaches and shore, swimming, shopping and panorama views in a stonethrough! It takes only less than an hour form CBD, take a double decker bus, on the upper deck and take the 1st row of seat, I rate it an rollercoaster ride!

Nice famous place. Have to be there once. Lots of shops. A french one for good food, and the Dragon Master shop to get crystal and stone and Chinese calligraphy art and maid

A market like many others in Hong Kong, nothing special and certainly not the best stocked, in the city there are much more interesting ones. The location is very suggestive, Tai Tam on your narrow street, breathtaking landscapes. 4 Stars

If you are living in stanley or nearby and you doesnt want to shop in a crowded place this place will help as you can find clothes, shoes, bags, things for kids and more things to shop. Plus quiet a number of eatery's that you can enjoy local foods and to support small business apart from restaurants around the area.

Great memories. The photos here don't do it justice. Carnival atmosphere, laneways and open courtyards brimming with stores catering to everyone's taste and budget. Cavern style eateries where a Nasi Goreng was worth travelling all the way from Sha Tin on a hungry stomach for, at least while I lived there. With so much to see and do, your eyes will be feasting long after your stomach has stopped growling.

Unique and relax place in Hong Kong, that you may visit once. Have a street like somewhat night market, few open area bar and food court, and a small beach. It is worth to spend half day on it.
