Easy trail. First 200 meters of stairs and the rest are relatively easy hike. Start early in morning before for lesser crowd and beautiful morning scene. End at Tai Long Wan beach for breakfast. Whole hike should be within 3 hours for relaxing hike.

Amazing hike. Highly recommend it. Make sure to take a lot of water and put on sun screen since you are pretty exposed to the sun. I took the bus #9 and got dropped off right at the trail head.

Probably the easiest hike you can find in HK. Went here after a big rainfall and when it’s still drizzling. Floor is a bit muddy and slippery but it’s still doable as there’s quite some flights of stairs. Nice views even though it was a bit foggy after the rain but I bet the views will be nicer if it’s sunny. Take bus 9 from outside Sha Ke Wan MTR. Intervals about 20 mins. About 2-3 hours up and down the entire trail from Shek O to Chai Wan. We walked and took breaks along the way.

Beautiful trail with great panoramic view from mountain top overlooking the Great Wave Bay and Shek O Wan. Trail was not difficult. At a moderate pace, the trail can be completed around 2-3 hours. If you are going in July - September, bring along a cap or umbrella for protection from the sun

The Dragon’s Back Hike is one of the most popular trails in Hong Kong due to its impressive coastal views seen from the ridge-line but also because it is one of the less intense routes in the region. Dragon’s Back Trail gives hikers outstanding, scenic views without too much incline and climbing. The trail is suitable for families, amateur hikers and all tourists looking for an adventure.

Fun, somewhat challenging, hilly route up to Shek-o Peak and beyond. The route consists of stairs, steps, rocky sections and is varied throughout. Sections of the Dragon's Back were well marked all of the way. Be sure to keep your eyes peeled as you go. Come prepared and enjoy the views!

This is one of our favourite peak to hike in eastern Hong Kong. Stunning view of Big wave Beach and Shek O and beyond Eastern Kowloon can also be seen. On the other side of the ridge is Stanley Beach and Tai Tam Lower Reservoir.

Great place to hike for 2-3 hours near the city. We took a 30 min cab to the trail head and then hiked through the mountain down to big wave beach. The hike itself was pretty easy/moderate but the views were great. It wasn't that crowded for us because we went when it was a bit colder and windier, but we heard it can get really crowded on nice days.

Can be more challenging if you take the trail all the way to Quarry Bay! Good place to hike but not recommended during rainy weather. There are a lot of bumpy rocks along the road that can be slippery, so I'd really only come back when the weather is clear and sunny. Lots of domestic helpers during Sunday as well! I'd probably go during the weekday to avoid the crowds.

Easy trail with windy breathtaking views all around to Big Wave Bay starting from “To Tei Wan” bustop in mid-Jan 2020 (start of Covid-19). Several loo stops along the route. Took me 2.5 hours to reach BWB. HK is blessed with great hiking within reach. If you are deciding on just ONE trail, this would be it. Wear comfortable walking shoes. I wore Adidas Boosts sneakers. And loose easy-breathing tops. Windy at the top. (Attached 3 vids of the high winds) 👍 👍👍 for accessibility via public bus (Take Bus #9 from “Shau Kei Wan” bus terminus) and great views for a new traveller to HK 👉 Attached many pics to show you the different terrain and signposts along the way!

It is probably the best beginner's trail. Accessible with public transport, easy to hike, great view, and you end with resting at the beach. Tips: Shau Kei Wan MTR station, exit A3. Go to bus terminal for No. 9 towards Shek O. Get off at To Tei Wan, Dragon's Back. Hike to Big Wave Bay for about 3 hours at a chill pace. At Big Wave Bay, take the same No. 9 bus going back to Shau Kei Wan.

Fantastic Views. Thank god for the breeze up there because it was a hot walk. It’s not the best path under foot so be prepared for that. It’s a great walk with great views out to sea and down into towns along the coast. There are several locations you can start the walk from and you can do it in parts.

Fairly easy, many flat sections, perfect for families and pets. Some of the rockier climbs and descents were slippery after the morning rain (I went at 3pm). Wasn't as crowded as I had expected, maybe because the weather was on and off rainy. I was able to run many parts of it and finished it in about 1.5 hrs from north to south, starting near the cemetery in Chai Wan. When I reached near summit, I didn't turn right to continue onto the main trail, and instead explored the rocks and cliffs further up. Then I saw on one blog that it's possible to go down the mountain through a rugged path. Sure enough, I saw ribbons that guided you down. It wasn't all easy but nothing too dangerous. Had to traverse through some slippery sections and thick bushes. At the end, you go down some drain steps and ultimate exit via stairs that are closed off to the general public. Super fun way to end the ordinary but scenic first two-thirds of the hike.

Beautiful hiking trail. Just the right amount of challenge. Very windy when you get to the top though! Sunscreen is recommended, and good hiking shoes with ankle support as the are many rocks. Would love to do this hike on a regular basis.

You can take Citybus 19 or 8x on Hong Kong Island to the Blue Bay Peninsula Bus Terminal, starting from Siu Sai Wan Longyue Trail. If you want to go to Longji Trail easily and quickly , Then you have to take the MTR to Shau Kei Wan Station, then transfer to the NWFB to Shek O No. 9 bus, and get off at Tiandiwan Station. The mountain road on Longji Trail is right at the drop off point, which is very convenient. Always an excellent hiking trail for a quick hike. Less than 30 min away from downtown with frequent public bus service. It has great scenery from its peak towards Shek O and Tai Tam. As long as the weather is fine, this trail will never disappoint you.

Awesome & Easy Trail! Just make sure you bring like sufficient amount of water and snacks as there are no refreshments en route. You can come out at big wave bay or walk back to the start point where there is the number 9 bus stop which takes you back to the metro station. Dragon Back Trail has a combination of dirt trails, stone steps and wooden steps. and the view is gorgeous with lots of wind. However, be careful at the peak, because there are no safety barriers to prevent one from slipping off the side of the paths.

This is 1 of the best hiking sport to hike. The trail is very easy and it is only less than 300m above sea level. I came around early of March and throughout the hiking journey, it is very windy and chilling because of the cold weather. During my hiking period, the weather is cloudy which allow us to take our own sweet time to hike due to no sunlight shine to us. If this area is not cloudy or windy and it is sunny day, you probably will get sun burn because there is not tree to help to block sunlight. Please do always check weather forecast and prepare sunblock. Definitely will come back to hike again. Will missed this chilling place.

Spectacular. Very easy to access from the public bus at either end of the track. The walk up is steep but the views from the ridge live are spectacular! The road down to big wave bay was closed for maintenance when we visited but it was a short walk from the end of the track down to the bus stop you can still end for a well deserved meal on the beach at big wave bay (or Shek o).

Amazing climb that's a combination of dirt trails, stone steps and wooden steps. it wasn't an easy trek to the top, but the view made up for the aching legs. however, for a beginner like me, it was still an okay hike. however, one has to be careful at the peak, because there are no barriers to prevent one from slipping off the side of the paths. during spring while i was there, due to the misty weather, there were times were the paths were obscured when the mist blew in from the sea.

Awesome trail to explore for gorgeous views. Even though the description of the trail said "moderate to difficult" don't be fooled. I found it to be quite easy. Definitely not a hardcore hike and way crowded on weekends. Only go then if you want to stop endlessly for girls carrying Prada bags who like to take selfies at every turn. For a better experience, visit during the weekdays for less congestion.

The best hike in Hong Kong town, very reachable and proper to sweet escape from HK hustle bustle city life. Hike along mountain ridges and sheltered forest trails to the white sands of Tai Long Wan (Big Wave Bay) Descend through shaded pathways before reaching Big Wave Bay, where you can have a swim, rent a board to surf or relax by the beachside The best hike in Hong Kong: hike along mountain ridges and sheltered forest trails to the white sands of Tai Long Wan (Big Wave Bay). Navigate the undulating ridge that resembles a dragon's back with stunning views of Hong Kong Island and descend through shaded pathways before reaching Big Wave Bay, where you can have a swim, rent a board to surf or relax by the beachside.

It was easy to get to the starting point by bus. The hike was relatively achievable for someone who hardly hiked. Some areas have paved steps, most areas you have to walk up and down on big rocks and sandy paths. The view at the summit was awesome and we were also rewarded with views of para-gliders. Highly recommended for hiking novices like me.

This was my first hiking experience in Hong Kong, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was just a bit disappointing that the longer path is currently undergoing some construction/maintenance so I wasn't able to end the hike at Big Wave like I planned. If you have been a couch potato (like I have been of late), the steps up might be a bit of a discouraging factor at the beginning but the views made it worth it. As a super clumsy person who manages to trip over just about everything, I managed to get all the way up to where the path to Big Wave is closed off without incident. 😅 Simply tread carefully and make sure your shoes have decent grip. I even came across a number of elderly folk with their walking canes near the top, enjoying the view below so it can be done! Getting to the starting point was easy enough by bus and there were some decently clean portable toilets at the start of the trail. I would definitely be happy to come back again with friends keen on doing this hike. (Maybe next time, I will get to the beach).

(Translated by Google) It is very easy to travel, the scenery is good, it is worth a visit, the only disadvantage is that there are too many people, but the mountain top is very wide, and you can take pictures of no one. At the beginning there will be more stairs, and then all will be level roads. There are different routes to leave, depending on the time you choose. Others also have minibuses or buses to Shau Kei Wan MTR station. The first brother in the mountain is also suitable 👍🏻.
