Came for the Peking Duck, stayed for the amazing 70s decor. I've seen that some people call this a 'tourist trap', I disagree. This is a very popular restaurant and mostly with locals, which is always a good sign. It is definitely more on the pricy side for the duck, but you can easily share it between 3 people, we were 2 and had heaps of left overs.

One of my favourite places, my family have been coming for here for 30+ years. I recommend ordering the bamboo shoots and crispy seaweed with candied walnuts, the crispy beef with sesame wraps and the peking duck. They do 2 different types of wraps for the peking duck (sometimes it's too thick for some people) and they will offer it if you ask them. The staff have always been so welcoming and attentive. Be sure to book in advance because no matter what day / night, the tables are all reserved and all taken within 45 minutes of opening time!

Very traditional vibe which is quite cool! Delicious food and portions are definitely generous. In heart of Hong Kong which can easily pop in and then go for a drink near by.

Definitely a tourist trap (which we fell into). The food wasn't great, it was OK, but I have had much better in Hong Kong for half the price. We arrived at 18:10, the restaurant opened at 18:00 and almost every table was reserved. By 18:45 every table was full (Tuesday night). We got one of the last available tables and watched as the it filled up with tourists from everywhere. The duck seems to be the dish of choice here which we did not order. I'd suggest getting duck only if it is two of you ($420 for a duck) and nothing else as it looks like a big feed. The other food we ordered was all OK, but the duck looked much better. Again, I would probably avoid here and look elsewhere, very touristy and overpriced. To experience Hong Kong food, go elsewhere. If you want duck, are willing to pay well over the top for an English speaking waiter/waitress and are happy to book in advance, then this is the place for you.

A friend introduced this place to us to experience dinner like a local. It's not a fancy restaurant - just a very average looking restaurant, no posh tables or chairs nor high expectations on service. Food - Every single dish did not disappoint. Fried beef, peking duck, melon and Yunnan ham soup, egg with fish, tofu, fried noodles and rice, fried Chinese dessert. The fried beef is something so different it's crispy - not like the usuals! Price - Reasonable for the amount of food we had... Service - I never expected good service, especially in HK where you can only get better level of service in hotels. The two ladies who attended to us were so patient towards us and they kept coming back to speak/joke around with us. They were really polite and told us about their closing hours.. All of us left happy - and will definitely recommend this place to everyone!! We made a reservation at 8.30pm and only got our table at 9pm... It's quite impossible to get a table without reservation as they are really very packed! They close around 10pm too so you wouldn't want to be too late...

Traditional Chinese restaurant. Attentive and helpful staff. No fancy decor or dish display. I recommend Peking duck and wanton chicken soup. Dishes come in S/M/L size but even the small size dish is in large portion. Value for money but better come in large group so you can order a number of dishes to taste.

One of the most traditional and famous Chinese restaurant especially for its Beijing duck. It is not easy to book a table for the same day. It is always full. Well, but I don't see the food quality so high. Beijing duck is oily and the wrap is too thick. Most other foods maybe very traditional but not that tasty. You are gonna pay a bill of high amount for its fame and tradition not for good food.

A very traditional restaurant but don’t let the design or the sometimes rude servers fool you. The food is delicious without it’s pretentious look. We ordered one peking duck which very is tasty. Other dishes we tried included cabbage cooked with ham, long beans, steam and fried dumplings, the special doufu, etc.

Great service ! Been here for many years! And they have been doing the same traditional dishes since I don't know when! So their food is as authentic as it gets! An Old taste of HK in the booming 80s. You'd also find the very Chinese things about the restaurant, for example the abandoned wine bar as their work station. Always book in advance !!

Maybe food here was once great, but that was definitely not my experience with Spring Deer. We ordered Peking Duck, the duck was roasted well however the duck came out pretty bland. The wrap was hand made but it tasted very yeasty and almost under-cooked (see pictures), and the yeasty flavour overpowered Peking Duck and ruined it. We also ordered 叉子燒逅, they were much smaller than I had liked. You really don't get the satisfaction of biting into a fully stuffed η‡’ι€…. It's filling ζ¦¨θœθ‚‰ζœ« was also underwhelming, it's too wet (or too juicy) - there should be no grease or juice leftover on the plate. Reading some previous comments, I had a feeling they lost a good chef or the restaurant is now under new management. It definitely doesn't live up to it's reputation. If you're considering a proper Beijing cuisine, maybe give Peking Garden Restaurant (εŒ—δΊ¬ζ¨“) a try instead.

It is a well known place that reservation is a must. Many tourists and old HongKongers love this restaurant. It is one of the ironic restaurant representing Hong Kong. In general, the taste is still authentic Hong Kong style. But, some may think it is quite out dated. I would recommend this restaurant to those who want to taste the traditional taste of food or those want to remember the nice old days.
