This building was ahead of it's time when it was built, still impresses to this day. I would recommend going there during the week, because weekends are full of citizens from selfie nation and it's hard to get a nice photo without a lot of people on the background. That said, great place if you're interested in photography or architecture (or both). You will also find some cafes, small shops and office spaces. Recommended for people who are in Shanghai for a short time or if you live here and want to explore the city a little more.

Takes a bit of time to find the place if you are coming from line 10 Hailun road. The building by itself is incredibly huge. Unfortunately, the shops inside are not that interesting! But walking in this concrete slaughter house is still something special. It was built by a British architect back in 30’s.

(Translated by Google) This unique huge building is a slaughterhouse built in 1933, dedicated to slaughtering cattle and sheep and other livestock. It was jointly designed by British designer Balfours and then Engineering Department engineers Wheeler and Unterburger. The corridors and bridges in the building are intricate, and the walls basically maintain the appearance of the time, with a very strong sense of history, and new discoveries can be made with every step and every change of angle. Now it has been transformed into a cultural and creative park. Many literary and artistic youths take pictures here. If you are a photography enthusiast, this is your paradise. You can enter here at night. The mottled walls create a horrible atmosphere during the day or night. Walking in the dark corridors can seem to hear the dead souls of cattle and sheep wailing. What's more commendable is that such an interesting attraction is completely free, and it is one of the most worthwhile attractions in Shanghai. The surrounding traffic is not convenient. It is a distance from the subway and you can take a taxi to go there. It's a former slaughterhouse and now filled with art boutiques, cafes and home furnishing shops. It's quite grey and drab but the art brings color to the surroundings. The staircases and curves reminds me of Escher's drawing. It's a cool place to walk around and take photos.

You best believe this (among) the best spots for photography. Surrounded by lots of '老上海' /'old shanghai', which in itself is worth visiting as its days are numbered. Walk there does not strike one as a modern/tourist friendly area, but follow Baidu maps and you'll find it. Open to public, no admission.

Despite early visiting not many stores open yet, but the old concrete building with strange walkway connecting rooms and space looks interesting and is a good spot to take pictures. It is going to be a hit and the area will soon be another happening n expensive in SH. It s the young n creative people energy that give birth to this kind of place.

(Translated by Google) Space transformed from slaughter house to complex cultural space I feel bad La Chang Fang The oldest slaughter house in Shanghai is 'La Chang Fang'. Built in 1933, it is a four-story building with a unique shape with a gentle spiral slider structure that allows the cows to walk down the stairs without being stuck in the middle. It was the largest slaughterhouse in East Asia at the time, and 300 cattle were slaughtered every day, so Westerners tried to eat beef hygienically. It was used as a slaughterhouse until the 1950s, and it was used as a pharmaceutical machinery factory and was left in ruins. The place has been transformed into a multi-cultural facility representing Shanghai, where famous products such as famous cars and art exhibitions are held every day. What is surprising is that the old-fashioned appearance of a clean appearance that does not look like a slaughterhouse has been maintained strong for over 80 years and that this place, which we have already lost in the redevelopment of the city, It is a space that gives a lot of young people dreams and imagination.

Very impressive place to walk around. The slaughterhouse (1933老场坊) has now been converted to an instagrammer's paradise. There are some local businesses, like photography studios, located within the facility. There is also a starbucks. It's probably a good idea to go here during the week when it's quieter. You could spend 30-60 minutes walking around the different levels in the buildings.

(Translated by Google) 1933 La Ochang Fang Past The small slaughterhouse has been reconstructed into an arts and culture complex. The sense of space of the building itself is very unusual place, but it is a place with a grayish charm. Cafe around. There are also lots of shops selling small crafts, and in general, it takes about 3 hours. I think it is helpful for those who study architecture. However, it is a little off the center of the city.

1933 is a wonderful art space that doesn't seem to get too many tourists. This is partly because it is a little tricky to get to! Worth visiting for it's architecture, art and the myriad photo opportunities you'll find yourself presented with. It's free entry too, which is always a plus!

It has been used as a slaughterhouse since January 1934. After that, the slaughterhouse was seized by the Japanese army in August 1937 and became a state-owned slaughterhouse. In August 1945, due to Japan's defeat in World War II, it was put into the hands of the Shanghai Municipal Health Bureau. The slaughterhouse has since expanded to become the largest slaughterhouse in the Far East, providing two-thirds of the meat consumed in Shanghai. After the establishment of the People's Republic of China in 1949, it became a slaughterhouse and processing base in Shanghai, a place for testing and development of advanced production technology, a large company for food production and international exchange, but China's reform With the opening and economic development, slaughterhouses will gradually move from the city center to the suburbs. This slaughterhouse was also thoroughly closed from the food processing industry every year and was completely closed in 2002. After that, it was a devastated place until the reconstruction. In August 2006, Shanghai Creative Industry Investment Co., Ltd officially started the renovation work. After about a year of renovation, the slaughterhouse has been revived as the 1933 Old Millfun (from the 1933 Old Millfun website), and the building is maze-like and extremely unique. It's fun to take pictures, and it's recommended to have an atmosphere just by walking around.
