Pacific Monarch Hotel is a great place in regards to its reasonable pricing. The hotel was previously condos and therefore each room has a different level of wear and tear depending on how the renters treated it. We had a room on the 28th floor just a few floors from the top which provided spectacular views of the ocean. The hotel was less than a quarter mile walk to the ocean and within a half mile of great restaurants and shopping. I booked through hotels.com and did receive some strange spam messages from the hotel. I recognized them for what they where and alerted the hotel, but I would suggest management keep a better tab on their passwords. The only downside is there are only 2 elevators for the 31 floors and one elevator for the parking garage. This resulted in long wait times.

It’s safe and well run with very polite staff. It’s just old and kinda gross by my standards. Unfortunately this is the problem with smaller hotels on Oahu. This hotel is too old for the owners to be able to probably maintain and update it. The salty breeze lines the glass on the rooftop area with a film that makes the views far less spectacular and the pool and hot tub aren’t clean or maintained. They are doing the best they can with this place but I wouldn’t recommend it.

This hotel is older, but after my experience with another hotel down the road I could care less about it being older. The room was clean and bug free. The location was great just down the block from the beach. It was so relaxing and the service was amazing. They made you feel so welcome. The price was great and the room was spacious. I would recommend this place to anyone. The staff was so helpful and kind. I could go on and on about how happy I was. 5 stars to say the least.

We are on our last day of a two week stay here. The staff has been very friendly. We have not had any problems with them. We got a 1 bedroom w/ a full kitchen. The view is the best we have had in Hawaii. If you come to the Pacific Monarch request a room with an 02 in it. We have a view of the ocean, Diamond Head, & Koko Head. We get the sunrise & sunset. The pool is on the roof. There are lounge chairs available. The views from here are even more impressive. In our room there is a table with 4 chairs, a sofa with pull out bed & a desk and chair. Also, if needed we could have daily housekeeping. If we come back to Waikiki, the Pacific Monarch will be our 1st choice.

The hotel itself was amazing. Penthouse room all decked out. Literally a block from the beach, down the street from the zoo and a local volleyball court(I love playing), literally cornered from 2 blocks of shopping, eating, playing, walking, drinking, riding, whatever you need. Parking is expensive at $30 bucks a day though but well worth it because I only used it to go to North shore. Everything in Waikiki is in walking distance to everything. There are 2 main strips next to each other to find what you are looking for. Hotel staff was ok, though we barely understood each other, language barrier. Parking is really for compact, there are washer and dryers in the parking garage but my penthouse had them inside the room. Views are amazing, literally watched surfers cut each off trying to catching waves, while watching from my room when I first arrived😆.

Overall we had a good experience here. I think the company had this listed as a 4 star, which it certainly is not. 3.5 at best. That being said, the room was clean and very spacious. We had a one bedroom with a kitchenette. AC was in the living room, and it was a bit challenging to keep the bedroom as cool as we would have liked but there was a ceiling fan. Not a huge deal. It was very nice to have a kitchenette. The hotel needs some Renos, the hallways are very worn. But, we paid far less for our stay here than other hotels, so overall were satisfied. The service was excellent, especially the lady at the front desk (sadly I cannot remember her name). Nice to be able to use the towels as well. If you can get past the wear and tear, it's a good hotel in a great location (really short walk to the beach).

One of the best stays we have had. Nice midrange hotel with everything you need. Room was good and spacious. It had all the amenities that we needed. Especially it had kitchen as big as an apartment, a big refrigerator, 4 stove cook top, microwave, had all the utensils and cutlery. Cleaning service was good, they provided fresh towels and beach towels everyday. Room was spacious and living room was huge with a dining table and sofa. We got a city view patio but still was good. There was roof top swimming pool and jacuzzi which were wonderful. The hotel itself was on a good street and couple of blocks away from Waikiki beach. Enjoyed our stay for 6 nights thoroughly. The pictures speak for itself. Recommend people to try this property. Some heads up for people choosing this place- 1. Parking in the hotel property is not included in the room price. Will have to pay an extra $30 per day. It was a surprise for us because we never paid for parking ever before for a hotel reservation. Later we found every hotel in Waikiki beach had to pay for parking and Pacific Monarch was the lowest. 2. One of the drawbacks we found was the curtains and carpet in the rooms felt old and needs a revamp. 3. The living room had an air conditioner but the room only had a ceiling fan. It would have been great if it was other way around because it was quite uncomfortable during nights.

This hotel is right next to Waikiki (Duke’s statue). I had two different experiences as I stayed twice. The first time was just a pretty good experience. The second time rocked. We were on a high floor facing Diamond Head. We had easy pool (perfect temp and very high up!), hot tub, and sauna access and a freshly painted room with a tub. Danny is amazing! He deserves a raise.

Friendly, helpful service. Pool was small, but clean. Lobby was pretty and accessible. Room was simple, but comfortable. Curtains were slightly stained and torn though. Parking in the garage was a little tricky. GREAT location, really close to the beach.

My biggest issue with this hotel is their parking garage situation. We stayed here for 3 nights and paid for 3 days of overnight parking in their garage. Apparently the parking garage is independently owned and they use a predatory towing company called Mr tow. In the morning of checkout I went to retrieve my car from the garage and realized it was gone, it had been towed. The towing company claimed that I wasnt parked fully inside the lines so that gave them the right to tow my car and charge me $200 to recover it. All in all this cost me around $250 after Uber costs and I nearly missed my flight. The hotel front desk was not helpful at all, they pretty much just said it wasn't their problem. I highly recommend staying at another hotel where they at least own the parking lot so they can make sure your vehicle is safe. The hotel itself is old and rundown anyway, there are many better options in this price range.

Needs a bit of a re vamp. Service wad awesome. Location awesome. We had small beds with our kitchenette my friend is 6 foot 2 she had her feet hanging off the bed and sometimes would roll right off the bed. As they were only twins. Room was awesome on the 30th floor great view. That's why I gave one less star as the beds were small. Everything else was awesome. The hospitality room was awesome as well. We just checked our bags in while we waited for our shuttle pickup and just watched movies. Awesome hotel would come back. Also liked that you needed a key card to get into the various rooms..roof top and hospitality room. Service was awesome too.

It's ok, value for money in a central location but the rather late 3pm check-in time seems fairly strictly enforced, so if you got an early flight, you'll have to wait in the top floor room which is nice and breezy with good views. Bed is a bit lumpy and a bit mean with the pillows. Rooms starting to show it's age a little bit but still acceptable.

Enjoyed my room. Enjoyed my view. I enjoyed the hot tub on the rooftop. Overall good location two blocks from the beach. Spam musubi downstairs is great really affordable. Within walking distance of a lot of good spots. But one made me give it three stars is the employees terrible customer service at the front desk. I hate to bring Reyes into the swing. Majority of the folks that were being rude and inconsiderate. We’re Filipino. Making rude remarks and comments zero patience for small questions. making dirty looks at me and talking down to me sometimes trying to make me feel stupid. I did not get a welcoming sense and neither did my wife. Everything else was great, but something needs to be done about the employees approach to the customers coming in and out because they could show better customer service towards us.

Pros: - clean room: definitely clean and room service did a great job of keeping it clean during the week we were there - price: compared to nearby hotels, the room was very price competitive as it was more of a studio. It has everything you need to cook, a dining table, and a couch. The interior is dated but does not affect the stay for us. - location: it is only a 3 minute walk to the beach, which is really nice for a morning stroll. You can easily lounge at Waikiki beach and go back and forth to your room easily. Cons: - parking: it is 40 dollars a day and is quite tight in terms of parking space. Driving up and down the parking structure has very tight corners and may be tricky if you are not driving a small sedan. - noise: the room was not insulated very well from sounds. Garbage trucks, street noise, and birds are often heard throughout the day and night. After the first day we got used to it but something to note if you’re sensitive to noise. Overall really good value and did not detract from our vacation.

Location is great and staff was wonderful and kind. That’s the only good thing about the place. The room we stayed in was not as advertised. It was very dirty. You could wipe a layer of grime off of the sinks and bath tub. Which I did wipe a layer off the bathroom sink when I cleaned my toothpaste off the sink. The bathtub was also dirty and moldy. Paint peeling off in the bathroom. I’m not even exaggerating. The carpet was grimy as well and felt really dirty. There is only ONE AC unit in the living room areas so it gets very hot in the bedroom. You cannot even relax in the day time. Oh and don’t forget the constant water issues. We had to bathe one day using a pot of water because they had to shut the water off. Plus the endless construction that seems to be going on. Drilling and hammering literally behind our bedroom at 9 am. So much for a relaxing vacation. People who book this place online are getting deceived with these pictures. This was not worth the stay. Do not believe the pictures that show dated carpet and furniture. I wish I could get my money back.

Location is absolutely amazing, however there is a $25 resort fee per night above what was quoted when booking which was disappointing. Completely understand no daily room cleanings but we had to take our own trash out which felt, um, not very resort like... Roof top pool offers great views in all directions but the pool itself is past it's prime. If you get a decent price, the location will be worth it, just set your expectations that this is a budget hotel.

We are enjoying our room with partial ocean view. They do not clean your room unless requested 24-hour prior notice and you pick the time they can clean. When you need more towels, shampoo, conditioner, or coffee you just go ask the front desk and they give you more. Beach towels are included upon request, just make sure you let them know when you are returning them because they are checked out with your room number, There is a basket you drop them in when entering the lobby. They a very big nice towels. Very happy with are comfortable soft bed. The stove top is a plug in the wall kind it's not like the picture on the counter top. Overall we are happy and thankful we choose this hotel.

Pacific Monarch Hotel has the nicest staff from the front desk to the cleaning staff. Nice and clean room. The one bedroom with a view of the ocean and mountains was perfect for our 10 day stay and it’s only a block and a half from Waikiki Beach. Nothing fancy but the price is right and the bed was very comfortable. Great having a kitchenette for the long stay. Can’t beat the rooftop pool and spa, the wide open room with pool table, seating and views. Great hotel overall! Would definitely stay again!

Excellent location. Great service by staff. Awesome pool and hot tub. Extremely clean rooms. Very good location. Views are stupendous. Garage spaces are very tight. The sofa bed was worthless and need to be replaced. Pots and Pans in Kitchen need to be replaced with slightly higher quality. Brand new pans were useless after one use.

Good value. I rented my apartment from Midway Realty. The hotel has added security which made me feel better about leaving things in my room and not worrying about nighttime intruders. Downtown Honolulu is a major metropolitan area with the usual problems any big city has, but it's a well managed place as a rule. I enjoyed my stay here very much

It's not a hotel for one. There's no daily cleaning service. You do have a little kitchenette which is convenient. The room was dated. It could definitely use some TLC. The staff was accommodating which made the stay a bit more enjoyable. Rooftop pool and view are nice. The pool is not as big as the pictures depict.

Pricing is overpriced, staff and security are very sketchy constantly asking about your personal business and they’re very unhelpful. The kitchenette is helpful albeit dated. Parking is also overpriced and you need to pay daily for it with very little available street parking.

Great stay. Very short distance to the beach by foot. Lots of amenities nearby. Pool and spa were great. Very kid friendly. The staff was very friendly. One staff member that stood out from everybody was Tyrell. He put his heart and soul towards every guest beyond 110%. Tyrell truly loves his job and it shows! He personally made our vacation that much better! Would definitely stay here again!

Pictures on the website are deceiving. The entire hotel could use some updating. The curtains were dry rotting from the sun/heat. The biggest disappointment was the bathroom. We rented a 1 bedroom suite for a week stay. There was no tub, or vanity. The floor had a huge bump in the layout presumably so water from the tiny walk-in shower wouldn't flood the entire room. Especially since the shower drain would plug after use. We had to call the maintenance for 3 different issues. (Although they were very prompt to fix the issues). The pull-out sofa was not useable, not really sure why, just a note that is was not to be used and zip tied closed. Another downfall was waiting for the elevator,(sometimes quite a while) due to only having 2 for the entire building. The carpets in the hallway were stained and the place looked quite dreary once you got past the front desk. The city is loud, you will hear lots of sirens and loud vehicles all night But, the view from the roof was amazing, roof-top pool clean, and they have a large lounge area with awesome view as well just before the stairs to the pool. Parking was close, expensive and crazy steep in some spots. The staff was always friendly and helpful. Debatable if I would stay again.

Literally not a better place to be with your family unless you need 5 star cuisine and room service. If your looking for a family friendly location, great view, ability to save a little or keep your tummy happy with a home cooked meal then this is the place to be. We are a block from the beach and a block from the heart of the city. The kids can play at the beach and you don’t have to stress about a long walk back for nap time or a quick rinse before a meal. You’re not moving in, you just need a secure and comfy place to lay your head when you’re not out exploring. You won’t be disappointed.

I would definitely stay here again! Great value! Only 2 blocks away from Duke Statue on Waikiki Beach and walking distance to many places. The room was decent size with queen bed, couch, and dining table. We also had a little kitchen with 2 burner stove, microwave, and mini fridge. The A/C wasn’t very cold but was able to keep the room at a comfortable cool temperature. It was right next to the bed which is nice because that’s where we needed it most as we weren’t in our room very much other than to sleep. Some may find the A/C noisy but I liked the white noise. Over all the room may be seen as dated by some, but it was very clean and well kept. Also they have beach towels and chairs that can be borrowed at the front desk. The only minor issues were the shower head was a little low if your over 5 feet tall, and we had to lean over the railing to see the partial ocean view which didn’t really matter to us.

Great location, friendly staff. We had a comfortable room which was like a small 1 bedroom apartment with a table for 4 on the patio as well as the inside living area table. Our son slept on the couch (tip: don’t unfold the uncomfortable hide a bed) Knocking a star for some needed maintenance, but it was clean and comfortable, and the full kitchen in the room is nice when you usually get back late from activities and don’t want to find a restaurant reservation during COVID capacity restrictions. Sunset at the rooftop pool is nice if you are there at the time. If you like live (acoustic guitar/uke type) music, there is a nice pub on the corner about halfway to the beach which seemed to have performers 7 nights a week from 6 to 9 or so.

The rooms were very nice and you can get a great view of the beach and the city from the balcony which you can get to from the front room and the bedroom. My room had a small kitchen which came with cooking pans and eating utensils, cups etc. The staff were great and helpful. I loved my stay.

Customer service: 5 stars Cleanliness: 1 star The staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating. However, the air conditioning unit had MOLD in it. I could not sleep through the night, as I smelled the mold and had an allergic reaction in my throat every time the AC turned on. I complained to the front desk and they immediately sent someone to look at it. Sure enough, when he opened the AC there was a ton of mold in the filter. However instead of replacing it, he sprayed it with a cleansing foam. This did not resolve the issue, since the AC now gave off a strong chemical smell every time it turned on. At one point, it triggered something close to an asthma attack for me. Although we originally booked it for 4 nights, we left after 2 and switched over to the Hilton Garden Inn Waikiki, which was only $20 more expensive at that time. We figured we would lose the money for the other 2 nights but that it wasn’t worth our health to stay. When we checked out early, the front desk was kind enough to give us a refund for the 4th night. After checking out of Pacific Monarch and into Hilton Garden Inn, my allergic reaction began to subside. Again, nothing wrong with the staff, they are all very welcoming and gave me great customer service, but it does not make up for the terrible reaction I had due to the hotel’s lack of cleanliness.

Good hotel….easy self parking $30 per day. In and Out privileges. Partial ocean view as seen on pic. Cannot hear waves as too far. Lots of restaurants nearby. Coffee machine available but real coffee shops are a 3 minute walk or 2 blocks away.

Stayed here for nearly three weeks in for my wedding a few years ago. Superb location, the views from our Lanai were outstanding, friendly and courteous staff. Having a kitchenette is a must when staying in HNL for so long. The building is a bit dated, but not something that would ever change my mind about booking here. SO looking forward to making my long awaited return this Spring!

We enjoyed staying at this hotel because the location was perfect for getting to Waikiki Beach and the surrounding areas. The rooftop pool was great to use and we could even see the Friday night fireworks from up there too. Our studio room was great as it gave us a lot more freedom and meant we could have breakfast on the balcony overlooking the mountains and the ocean! Ideally we would’ve liked to know beforehand that the hot tub was out of use, the water was going to be shut off for 8 hours and there would be building maintenance around the pool area, as this did affect our overall experience.

Great location! Can walk to any of the attractions, places to shop, eat, etc. Customer service is great. However, our 1st night, the plumbing backed up and was told no one could help us until 6 am the next day. It was 10 pm, and with 3 kids, it wasn't going to do. We had to take our kids to the 32nd floor just to use the restroom! We had 🐜s, ac didn't really work, low ceilings; it just looked like a 2 star htoel room. NO closets, NO tv in the bedroom, small reefer barely gets cold. I'm just upset because coming to Hawaii is already expensive; when you see the hitle online, it's NOTHING like what it is in person. We just didn't think it would be this bad.

I really loved this experience. The view was fascinating 👌🏾. We were celebrating our 8 anniversary ❤️ and have a great time. Also the surrounding has a lot to do. Tons of night life.

Aging but clean and neat. The best rooftop view in Waikiki. Only 3 minutes to the beach and a few more to great shopping and restaurants. The rooms also have kitchenettes so you can save big bucks eating in if you like. A great place for the family too.

We stayed in an Airbnb “Sweet Blue Hawaii” at this Hotel and it was amazing! The views are truly mesmerizing, the decor was so cute, the condo came with everting we needed for our stay. The location was very convenient, just a block from the beach! Close to all shopping and restaurants. The staff was friendly and respectful, building amenities are just like the pictures. Will definitely come back, great value for a wonderful stay!

The hotel location is everything! 2 blocks to the beach and the best poke place in waikiki right across the street! You don’t need a car here unless you are going to explore the whole island. We had a car and the parking was a good price for the area. The pool has an amazing view and was empty most the time. The rooms are decorated a bit old style but clean.

We arrived for our 4pm check in at a little after 4 and the room was not ready. The room was exactly as expected. Spacious cleanand nice Balcony. But the bed was super hard and the pillows super soft! Not a great combo! Did not sleep well last night at all. They charge a resort fee but there are no pol or anything to enjoy.

  • 5/5 Dylan M. 1 year ago on Google
Super helpful experience at the front desk and very knowledgeable about the area. The parking isn't that much more expensive than the "cheap garage" a few blocks away so I went with the garage they have attached there. Room is clean and the kitchen is a nice touch to have.
