Do not waste your money. It is the worst, Filthiest place I have ever been in my life. I believe that the purpose of the rooms are for homeless people! No Gym,No pool, no soap in the bathroom, really tiny rooms, old building more than 100 years old( I asked specifically!) smells, you can feel the germs and bacteria around you I am not joking! Do not count on it unless you don’t care about what I said. Mahalo

Wish the place were more colorful and cheaper. I thought they were over priced. I’d rate it a 1 star hotel but they could easily make it a two star. All they have to do is freshly paint the place, fix the windows and buff the floors on an occasion. They could easily do this by hiring people to stay and work for board that could possibly help people get on thier feet and help with homelessness. It is a Christian owned place! I’m surprised that haven’t done this already. This place has many rooms too! YMCA could do better!

I came here in March from CA for the $300 per week until I got paid from my employer. Diana is a wonderful person who helped me from CA. I love the YMCA as an institution, but this YMCA is now a hostel so there is no pool or exercise facility as it’s been in demolition stage for some 4 years. While it was very safe and clean during the COVID-19 quarantine, I got bites from bugs. ( quite common on the island) The single room pics are a bit deceiving. There is no real shared kitchen. I was not fully refunded by the Asian lady for the bug bites but they did spray my room extra for the remaining days. Needs a proper renovation for sure!

Someone I knew desperately needed a place to stay and sought shelter at this Y just so he had a safe place to lay his head at night. He had recently found a job that paid him well and could make the weekly rent. However, after the Y administered a background check, this person could no longer stay at the Y even though his criminal record is over 30 years old and has been on the straight and narrow for years. Up to that point, he has done everything he could do to find a decent place to stay after falling on hard times and the Y kicks him out over a mistake he made a long time ago. He's changed since then! He was just looking for a chance! Now having to reside at an uncleanly shelter in Honolulu, he's contracted COVID-19. I am so disappointed and sad.

First of all, this is the best deal in the area. Period. $300 bucks a week for a single occupant. $75 a day for a double occupant. They even have a little penthouse for $125 a night thats pretty much your own apartment. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful if you want to chat with them, or won't bother you if that's what you'd rather have. The accomadations are very clean but aren't perfect. It's a place to sleep and keep your things safe while you enjoy the island. It's also right across the street from Ala Moana and all major bus lines, so getting around is no problem. Parking is only $5 a day. Lots of positive qualities. Just remember you get what you pay for, so don't expect the Ritz, definitely a win for the money minded traveller though.

Clean place. Affordable for the area. Friendly staff. Residents.... Hmmmm... I felt like I was in a homeless shelter because I head that they work with one of the shelters in the city in allowing homeless to stay there. I also felt like it was a nut house because there's a dude that walks around continuously and listens to and butts in conversations that you are having with the front desk. Room doors are sometimes hard to open with key. Sometimes there's a very weird nauseating smell. No swimming pool or gym. Just lodging. Walking distance to Walmart and Ala Moana mall is right across the street. That was great for me since I worked in the mall. They are closing any day now due to the fact that a developer bought the building so don't get comfortable if you move in.

Love this place. The old timers and rest of people staying here are as authentic as it gets. The rooms and building are spartan. But it's clean, safe and quite (minus the traffic noise so bring silicone ear plugs). Staff is nice. Great deal and place to use as a base when visiting Oahu.

There is the active segment of a Micronesian gang running out of this YMCA. They have guns and are at the ready to use them and intimidation tactics as well. They will follow you outside of the YMCA and try to make your life difficult. From bullets dropping in the hallway to talk about assassination to attempted assaults in the shower... You're better off on the street.

Is safe, no amenities, although there are vending machines. Great location, and neat old building. Won't be here much longer. Super inexpensive, friendly staff.

The YMCA is not a bad place, it's just not a good place. If you need some semi affordable lodging then it's not a bad choice. It's certainly better than some of the hostels around the island.

This place is a disaster from the thievery of the managers hello overpriced rooms two outlets in the room for which you're only allowed either a microwave or a refrigerator can't have both can you put an antenna outside so you don't get no TV service cuz they don't have cable did I mention the managers like to steal stuff if I was you it may be cheap but I'd stay in the street it does have its close to Walmart Walgreens Target alamoana Mall that's the only good thing I say about it

Very kind staff, perfect location , clean. A bit shabby but nevertheless charming. Sure the best value for money on Oahu.

Management is letting people squat there it looks like, and cleaning staff went through my things, had opened bags and didn't even clean well
