I heard about a good reputation about the chef Vikram and the restaurant. Maybe the expectation was too high. The presentation was good but food wasn’t very excitingly tasty as I was hoped for. I had lamb shank, it was highly recommended by the chef but I found it was too salty. It contain various spice into the marinade but I could not conclude of it. The duck was dry, Mac and cheese was bland, mushroom risotto under the scallops were salty. It’s a hotel restaurant so they have a nice space. Friends who have been there few times before also thought it was different from previous times. It was Saturday, only 3 table and private room occupied. This is pop up restaurant before the hotel go to the renovation work so maybe they aren’t so interspersed in doing great. Maybe that was reflected into the food. Despite of what I thought about this restaurant, I must say the dessert was very good. It was colorful, Creative and thoughtful which made the end of the dinner with pleasant tone.

Stay away. Way overpriced and you can get better food for cheaper. I got a popsicle for dessert!! And the vax mandate was a total hassle. I'm never going back to Hawaii, let alone TBD. Never again. If you're fool enough to vacation in Hawaii right now, don't go to this tacky restaurant.

The noise level in this restaurant is very acceptable. The middle table however suffered from a rather hard blowing ventilation outlet which was unpleasant. Appetizers, soup and dessert were great! Not exactly French but the tartare (tuna and beef) were well prepared, the onion veloute was tasty and the desserts were very nice even though I'm not a big fan of desserts. The main dish (which US people call entree which basically means "starter" in French) was steak and that was a bit of a failure. The soyu rub was a little too strong and didn't reveal or bring out the great taste of the steak. We had a steak that was pink on the side so it was instantly clear that our 2 steaks had been cooked together and then cut in two. That was a shame since one of us got a steak that was mostly marble and no meat. When we revealed this to the waiter, his initial reaction was to justify the piece of meat. After we complained some more, the steak was taken away and later returned by a perfectly cooked steak. To be honest: we got a lot of apologies later on and we got some free desserts. The coffee can be better - getting a decent espresso on the island is still a challenge.

WOW. Stay out of Waikiki completely!! Hawaii is super strict and it's better not to come at all. All we could eat was fast food once we got here.

Modern and global cuisine in the lotus hotel. We got the 59 dollar per person 4 course set menu, which was good and solid value. The shrimp escargot replaces the slimy texture of snail with a chewy q texture. The flavor was relatively light for escargot, which paired the shrimp better. The beef tartare had a well accompanying mustard blend, not strong yet subtle. The beef was very fine; I would’ve appreciated a more raw texture. The onion soup had an earthy sweet flavor. The essence of onion was encapsulated well in a bowl without butter or cream to steal the spotlight. The salad was good, but not the most inspired salad I’ve had, featuring a solid balsamic, blue cheese, pear, beets, and some basic greens. The pear was perfectly ripe. The mains were alright. The scallop risotto was textbook. The lamb shank was decent but with slightly undercooked carrots. The mango kulfi dessert was the highlight. It was delicious and creative, wrapping mango kulfi in a sweet chocolate shell.

This was an amazing experience. The food is delicious and memorable and the all inclusive 4-5 course meal is very filling. The ambiance is very fancy minimalistic. The chef seemed very enthusiastic and the vibe of the place was very french. They do have very tasty vegetarian options in the meals, which is a huge plus. Wouldn't go there every week as it's expensive as all hell, but great place to celebrate an occasion or a rare date night.

Everyone at tbd are truly good people. Great conversation, great service, and generally caring. I definitely recommend this place - from bartenders and servers to managent, I can't imagine you'll find anyone here who want leave you smiling. Now, about the food. My compliments to the chef. I had the Australian Wagyu Beef Sliders and the Kung Pao Brussel Sprouts - I'll probably never order anything else off the menu if I'm being totally honest. It was so good. The brioche bun was fluffed to perfection, the wagyu patty was juicy and delicious, the gruyere cheese (I think it may be aged as it's got a slightly earthier taste which compliments the whole dish nicely) was melted just right, and the garlic aioli brings an intense garlic taste that truly makes the dish pop. Definitely get the brussel sprouts to start if you like the spicy, tangy goodness on your veggies!

From the entrance to the appetizers, and all the way to dessert, this place was outstanding. So far it’s been one of the funnest places we’ve gone to here in Hawaii and we completely understand why it’s rated as high as it is!

Incredible! This was the best dinner we had during our time in Oahu. The Brussel Sprouts and Citrus Salad were both excellent. The truffle fries were also great and a very generous portion. The stand out of our meal however was the sliders. They were simply perfect. This place is located on the second floor of the Lotus Honolulu. It is a bit out of the way compared to most places in Waikiki, but you will not leave disappointed!

Definitely a fine dining, small plates place. Was here on a Thursday and we were essentially the only people in the restaurant. Interesting thing about this restaurant, they have a prix fixe menu available only in their dinning room, but if you are seated in the lounge you can order individual Items from that tasting menu. Kind of a one way thing though, if you’re in the dinning room, you are limited to the set menu. Food was fantastic as was the service, we had a special request for vegetables and they happily accommodated, but were surprised by the request for a side of Brussels sprouts.

Every bite was a WOW! The food was an amazing blend of flavors and textures. We had the bread starter, ahi tartare (would order again, so good!), baked shrimp (another 5 stars), red and green salad, onion soup, salmon, scallop risotto, banana creme puffs and mango kulfi. All items were incredible.

Not a fan. Ordered a 1944 Mai Tai ($18), tasted terrible, like I can't even explain. It had some smell / taste that I couldn't get out of my mouth. The waiter (who was pretty great btw) took it back. The bartender says "oh, I can fix it." So he did something. Still horrible. The food was okay. A little pretentious for me taste. And the prices really don't align with the experience.

We were staying at the hotel and had a great dinner here on the last night of our honeymoon. Everything was delicious especially the bento box and scallops. We had a beautiful view of sunset over Diamond Head. It was a lovely restaurant and service. Highly recommend!

Took advantage of free wine tasting offered Wed-Sunday. Comfortable atmosphere with attentive service. We decided on seats at the bar and was nicely served by Tosh. We started out with the tomato tartare. Delicious. Followed by a Kurubota pork chop, very tasty, I would’ve preferred a slightly less cook. My wife had risotto with Scallops, again prepared well, but rice was just slightly undercooked. We indulged with a dessert of cream puffs with caramel sauce which was more than enough for two. TBD provides a high quality meal at reasonable prices. Recommended.

Our server Damien was a level above the rest. The dinner was beyond our expectations and it was such a breath of fresh air to get real, wholesome, fine dining service. Desserts were beautifully presented , delicious and just the perfect portions. Bar tender made some of the best cocktails we have had on this island and brought them personally to the table. Thank you so much for a memorable dining experience. We will spread the word, and will definitely be back.

The place was beautiful and staff were super friendly, Im vegan and we went there for our anniversary, chef made me a few vegan delicious dishes, also he was kind enough to make a surprise dish; ”mushroom risotto” it was light and full of flavor, Thank you chef for doing small things in a great way, you have a big heart!
