They did a great rehab of this long neglected building and club bar vibe in the back room. BUT for a bar touting itself as “EP” aka a place requiring reservations to hear vinyl dont go expecting great audio…zero attention was paid to interior surfaces for acoustic impact (basalt walls, corrugated steel ceilings etc are death to audio) and no mitigation. But do still go for a intimate place for 2 to 4 to share craft cocktails in Chinatown. Enjoy non-audiophiles!

Met some friends here for a drink on a quick 72 hr trip to Honolulu. The bar itself is in a non descript area but that is far from the establishment itself. They have a wall of vinyl where they play a wonderful assortment of music on McIntosh players. An impressive assortment of whisky and other drinks are also on display but the best part is picking which one you would like to drink. Reservations are a must. The place is intimate and laid back. If you don't book ahead of time you likely won't get a seat. Fortunately parking there was no problem. The EP's speakeasy vibe was overall great. I would highly recommend making a stop here if you want a grab a drink and chill in town.

A whisky bar in the purest sense. The Morning Star from Manoa is served here throughout the day; the coffee and pastries are just as good as before, but there is no complete kitchen. During the evening, the bar known as the EP Bar, which refers to extended play albums. It's a sophisticated bar experience with a selection of speciality beverages that are presented to satisfy your taste buds. The aesthetics are continued with a collection of vinyls hung on the walls, a combination of old school and new school R&B played by a live DJ, and a low tempo, soothing R&B atmosphere.

Very cool hip spot. They have a dj running vinyl to an amazing soundsystem. The drinks were great as well as the stellar atmosphere.

Cool place to get some cocktails while having a DJ spinning some tunes. The staff here are friendly and quick to make some delicious cocktails. I enjoyed the EP Old Fashioned, Luminescent Dreams, and Ocha Highball. Definitely worth Cheviot out if you are in the Chinatown area.

Favorite bar! Coolest vibes ever. Definitely a small space, so I felt lucky to get some time here on my birthday without a reservation for a little bit right when they first opened. (REGULARLY I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND MAKING A RESERVATION) Can tell staff is very knowledgeable. To drink my boyfriend and I shared the Heart of Glass (VERY pretty drink, tasted much better than I anticipated. It was nice to see the care the bartender made this one with w/ the flower petals…) and the Kyoto Matcha IPA (very green lol… as grassy tasting as you’d expect, but the exaggerated food coloring is a bit of a turn off for me here). For myself, I got the Coffee Cocktail, which was absolutely DELICIOUS. As expected, since this bar is located in the back of Morning Brew. Perfectly balanced, not too acidic, not too minty. My boyfriend got one of the high ball cocktails and, again, very well balanced. More boozey tasting than anything else we got and absolutely delicious. GREAT experience here!! Can’t wait to come back. 🎶🍸

Great cocktails, high quality ingredients well made. Loved the chic decor, exposed basalt stone. We didn't get the EP theme though. There was vinyl record albums and someone spinning them but they don't take requests and the bartender said the tracks are put together in advance . . so, how is that different from a Spotify track, loud. Anyway, we will be back for those great cocktails

Cool little bar, with 80s-90s music, unique decor/theme, and well-dressed patrons. My heart jumped for joy when they played Prince's "When Doves Cry". Props to whoever designed it. I visited this place on a First Friday. I feel like reservations are a must -- so much nicer than the other Chinatown spots, tucked away from the Hotel St madness, with host in front, and ample staff even though it's a fairly small place

The best dining in Honolulu by far! The atmosphere and music are fantastic. Extremely chic and high - end setting. The staff here is fantastic and extremely smart. I highly recommend it!

Fantastic bar located in Chinatown with an excellent array of cocktails. The friendly bartenders enhance the experience, and the music playing that night added to the ambiance. Due to its intimate size, seating is limited, but you have the option to call and secure a reservation.

The service was great; friendly, attentive, and mixes wonderful cocktails. I appreciate that reservations are required, as it wasn’t crowded and packed with people. The music was great too!

Mysterious looking bar from the outside, and the interior design and vibe gets better as you’re inside. Their highlight drinks are highballs (Japanese’s signature drink) which are pretty good. The matcha beer was just meh.. four of us with different alcohol preference tasted it but wasn’t a fan of it. Stick to the highballs! Price is on the expensive side.

The drinks are great. Just wish they had more options for light snacks/food. The music was definitely on point. Will be back!
