For me a bit disappointing, the rooms tell the story of Beethoven with exhibits, but I didn't feel a connection with the composer and the house, no every day household objects, like say a room or rooms set out to show that it was a home. The floorboards squeaked loudly as you made your way round, and I hate to say this, but the garden, with the grape vines was the best. Sorry to all you Beethoven enthusiasts
This interesting museum stands on the place where Beethoven was actually born in 1770. In the 3 floors that make up the building you can find different kinds of memorabilia related to the great artist: sculptures, paintings, musical instruments, scores and objects from his everyday life. At the entrance you can download a free app that serves as a useful audioguide. The entrance ticket costs 15.4€ if you buy it online.
I just love Beethoven's music and was delighted to visit his place of birth in Bonn and now they have made it into a museum. A wonderful museum dedicated to Beethoven’s life and music. It’s filled with history, original manuscripts, and instruments. Walking through the rooms gives a deep sense of his journey and legacy. A must-visit for music lovers and anyone in Bonn.
Lovely place rich in history and in what classic music was, when it was not classic yet. The museum is small but with a modern setting and with many audiovisual aids. Remember to buy the tickets outside the house in the shop across the street.
A great experience, learning about the history of this great musician. The house is big, it has 3 floors full of history, interactive and non interactive. The tickets are not necessary to be purchased before time. You can purchase them in front of the house, at the Beethoven Haus Store.
Small and wonderful museum. I recommend using the free audioguide, so you can enjoy the visit on your own pace. Do not miss the music room (o the right side of the garden) to enjoy Beethoven music execution
Well maintained house with a fantastic collection of attefacts that showcase Beethoven's musical journey. The tickets are a bit pricey in my opinion at €14. Go early to avoid waiting in line to buy tickets. I recommend to check it out when visiting Bonn.
It's great to see where this genius grew up and what inspired him the same way he inspired generations. The house staff are very friendly. The space is quite. There is an app that guides you through the exhibits. Gift shop is across the street is also where you buy tickets.
it was fascinating to step into Beethoven's birthplace. It was an educational trip, amazed on how the house is still well preserved. Dont forget to drop by when you are in Bonn.
Great place to visit in Bonn. Tour lasts around 50 minutes and you can see real partitures, objects and even personal items from Beethoven.
This is the house where Ludwig van Beethoven was born. Unfortunately the house was later used by others as well so you can’t see the original furnitures. A very well prepared content is waiting for you in the museum. An application has been designed to be your audio guide throughout your journey on your smartphone. So better bring a headphone with you. There is even internet connection in the museum shop for you to be able the download it, so no worries if you forget to do so beforehand. Don’t forget to visit the music room and the treasury right across the Beethoven House yard. Im delighted to be made part of Beethoven’s life!
This place tells not only about Beethoven's life story, but also his struggles, his creative process, and his resistance to illness. There are 3 level floors and some rooms. The display of the objects are interesting. And they also have link to explain everything there. You can buy the ticket at the store infront of the house. It's about €14 per person. And you have to put you bags in the locker inside the store with €1 or €2 deposit.
In my opinion, it’s a calm yet impressive stop that you should definitely make time for in the city. This house-museum, where Ludwig van Beethoven was born, is not just an ordinary place where you walk through a few rooms; it offers a well-curated exhibition that neatly tells the story of the composer’s life, his era and his music. During your visit, you can take a short breather in the courtyard and then complete the experience by listening to his works in the music room.
An outstanding experience. From the small room downstairs to the back garden the items, exhibition pieces, and story of Beethoven's life are expressed very eloquently. I require crutches to aide my walking. The stairs here are narrow, a little too much so in places, yet the pain it caused (and shall do so in the coming days) will be worth it. I truly loved my experience today at the Ludwig Van Beethoven museum. I also truly recommend this place to anyone and everyone.
With the application you download, you can listen while visiting the museum. We proceeded this way and everything was very clear. The information and items inside were interesting. It's a museum worth seeing if you come to Bonn.
If you're a lover of Beethoven, this is a great place to visit. You learn more about the man himself and it details his life as a composer rather than just focussing on his music. The house is lovely with a peaceful garden outside you can sit in and imagine hearing music coming through the windows from inside.
Beethoven is a legendary music composer and a pianist who is popular amongst generations. I had the privilege to visit his museum a few days ago. It had everything that we needed to know about Beethoven and his musical works. All of his musical manuscripts were displayed. As a result, I could get an insight as to how he spent lots of time in working hard to come up with famous musical pieces like Fur Lise, Ode to Joy, Moonlight Sonata and many more. I could also see some of his portraits and of his team members. In this museum we could also get a glimpse into his social life and physical challenges that he had to face. Overall, he is the most popular composer recognised even today. So, I am very much happy to have visited his Haus at Bonn, his birthplace. There are also plenty of merchandise of his that you can purchase at the shop opposite to his museum.
Great collection of artefacts, well presented, with a very good app offering plenty of detail. 3 floors, plus a garden. He didn't live here many years but it's the only house left where he did. It's definitely possible to come away with a better understanding of the man. Recommend!
Visiting Beethoven’s House Museum is a profound experience that offers a glimpse into the life and times of a genius artist. While some rooms are sparsely furnished, you can almost hear the echoes of an unwritten melody lingering in the air. A must-visit for anyone who appreciates the magic of music and history.
I expected them to have preserved more of the actual house and rooms. It just felt like a somewhat museum in a random building that happened to have once been Beethoven’s house. The parts about his music and deafness are interesting though. Also very cool to see his instruments and original portraits. The audio guide was good and user-friendly but would be nice if you can speed the recording. Example of the content you can preview on the app in photos.
In the old town of Bonn lies Beethoven's house, now a museum. Across 3 floors, you can find instruments, old manuscripts, paintings, and sculptures, and learn about how he became the legendary composer he is. I found Beethoven-Haus to be slightly underwhelming, as it was not interactive and small—I expected at least a piano to play on. The "special exhibition" was not too special at all, as it only had abstract paintings and a small sculpture. On the bright side, the "music hall" played pieces by Beethoven and offered a place to sit and relax. If you are a fan of his, I recommend visiting. If not, don't waste your time as it will only bore you.
Most of the building is fully renovated, but for any classical music fan this is a must! Absolutely recommended!
