Please avoid 85 BEDOK NORTH FRIED OYSTER STALL at all costs :( I wish I read the reviews of this place before I ordered from them because THERE WAS A WHOLE COCKROACH in the middle of the char kway teow that I ordered. The cockroach was most likely cooked together with the ingredients of CKT cause it was inside the pile of CKT. Brought both plates back to owner, he just says sorry & tries to make me go away before lunch crowd comes at noon. Read google reviews of this place and apparently the owner is stingy, I hope the owner didn't re-use the rest of the Ckt that I sent back for the lunch crowd that came after. Owner didn't seem fazed that this happened, I'd urge authorities to please look into the safety & hygiene standards of this stall. Along with the owner, there is an apathetic worker as well with him who is equally unbothered by the fact that I FOUND A COCKROACH in their food.

Update: 20/09 came to dine and reopened. Got new western food stall and economy rice moved to corner while rojak moved inwards. More tables & chairs. Now got Kopi auntie to get your drinks order. Cleaner, less slippery even floor One of my favorite Kopitiam. Now under renovation til end of September and missing if already. Very good kuey chap duck rice. The cha kuey teow is very good too but must order in the night. Very authentic Hokkien mee that use to be in this KPT 10 years ago will be back after the renovation. Good rojak. Looking forward to its new form as the coffee shop was getting old. Trivia: did u know this is the first Kopitiam in singapore that was build without doors if u notice as it’s has been open 24/7 365 for the past 20 years. Updated: 13/1/2024 with some new fotos of today eats

Newly renovated September 2023. New tables, new Western Food Stall. The rest of the stalls remain. It's 24 hour too.

Latest update as of 30 Oct 2023: Price has increased for everything after renovation done in Sept 2023. At least, the place is cleaner than before. So far, I have tried all the food except Zi Char and the new Western food stall. Food quality and taste seems to improve for the fish soup, duck rice and mixed veg rice. Please avoid peak timing for the fish soup as they always prepare for food deliveries before your order. However, I still don’t find the Bak Chor Mee nice except for their fishballs as they do not add enough vinegar to it. I also find the Mee siam expensive at $4 as the portion is quite small and there is no fish cake and the tau pok is so little. The bbq fish is so dry so not worth to order. Rojak is still as good as before and I am glad that they have their own stall space to make their rojak. Popiah is more ex than Qi Ji which I find its price ridiculous at $2.50 each. Testimonials based on a year ago: I stay near this 24hr coffeeshop but I will give 4 star review to only one stall which is the chicken rice stall. I usually order duck porridge or duck kway teow from duck rice stall, wanton mee, fried beehoon, mee tai mak dry from bak chor mee stall, fried carrot cake from 85 Bedok stall and bbq Stingray rice. Fried chicken is overpriced but nice. My utterly worst experience was ordering from the most liked fish soup stall located next to the restroom. Although the fish soup is nice but the stall personnel's attitude is Kana Sai (horrible).. Need to wait for more than 30 mins/1hr on weekends as they takes in orders from both food delivery vendors as well as walk-ins. They usually prioritize cooking for grab food or foodpanda orders first. If you die die want to eat fish soup, please only eat it on weekdays or avoid peak hours to refrain from waiting too long as it is wasting your precious time.

Recently renovated coffeeshop, came at 1am and it was still crowded with many supper goers. The 4 main stalls in the middle section are still open with many orders coming in. Love their fish soup, fish slice is chunky and succulent and also fresh. One bite and you will be able to tell its freshness and quality of the fish. Soup tasty and flavourful, has a unique broth and its own recipe. Doesnt feels thirty after drinking the entire bowl of soup which tells very much on the ingredients they uses. Surprised at how generous they give their fish slices, at least a good 8 rather bigger pieces or so compared to most places. Definitely worth the price. They also have a small TV and bigger TV screen at the smoking area which shows the orders and also subdivided into dining in, takeaway and the different delivery platforms which thus benefits both customers and delivery riders in collecting the orders. On a sidenote, coffeeshop tables are rather dirty, many stains and leftover condiments/sauces on most of the tables which kinda affect the newly renovated image.

This plate of duck rice costs $9..... Taste quite ok. But slightly steep pricing.

The place has a good variety of foods. Prices here look reasonable, starting from $3 for most food stalls. I hope the $1.30 coffee can be improved as the coffee taste isn’t strong even for kopi gao. I can’t how “normal” coffee would taste like.

Ate at the cai png stall, ordered 2veg, 1meat was overcharged $4.90 where it should be $3.90. paid $6 , returned only $0.10. So basically I overpaid $2. When I went back to ask where was my $1 change, the stall operator lied that the food was only $3.90 and I paid only $4. Watch out when you order there. Dishonest operator. Will not go back again. Coffee at the drinks stall was good. Good service points for the cleaners.

Mixed Rice *$2.6 A hidden gem that sells very cheap and good economical rice in Hougang. It’s near the HDB estate so do expect very long queues with people there. Although the queue are always long during meal hours, it moves quite fast.

Even one star is too much. Ordered hor fun with no prawns due to allergy, but the hor fun came with prawns. Requested to keep the original hor fun at the table while they bring back a new plate of hor fun with no prawns because I don’t want them to just pick out the prawns. They refused and asked me to trust them that they will cook a fresh batch for me. They returned shortly after with a “fresh” plate of hor fun, but there was a piece of prawn shell in it. I’m pretty sure they just picked out the prawns with no respect of food allergies.

Spent most of my teenage days in Hougang and had most of my meals in this coffee shop. My favourite stall that sells mee siam and wanton noodles is still here after my last visit 18 years ago. The taste is still on point👍👍👍🤤. Not sure if its open 24hours but i was there at 11pm and this coffee shop is still bustling with energy. Parking is conveniently located at the back of the coffee shop.

Poor attitude Mee stall.. still a boss daughter.. there to chase customer away with staring eye and poor manners.. used to visit the stall so many times, all the stall helpers are so friendly.. today, one-time is enough. Anyway, the noodle nothing fantastic either.

Avoid Sheng He Fishball Minced Meat Noodles. On 2 occasions, I ordered for non spicy, it came as spicy. When you order, the auntie also dreaming. When you repeat, show you unhappy face. Even after you repeat non spicy, it still came out spicy. I am so angry cos the noodles is meant for kids who can’t take spicy. To be frank, the noodles is nice but the chilli is rather spicy for people who cannot take spicy.

Sad day Chicken Rice Stall The folk who have been running the stall all these years have left. They were the best in service in the whole coffee shop or any coffee shop. Unfailingly polite and professional. Over the years, they have encountered various storms either personal or with the business with the latest being the Malaysia chicken ban. It has taken its toll. Has the business been sold and that's why they've left? Surely wish them all well. And thank you to the boss who led the way in showing that hawkers can also be very professional. Its a big loss to the profession. Over the years, watching various hawkers in this coffee shop leave and their businesses taken over by shinier new bosses charging higher and higher prices, one thing is clear - don't become a hawker. Its one profession that keeps taking and taking and at the end, just spits you out and throws you out when you no longer have the energy or health to carry on. An unforgiving line of work.

If there is a negative rating, this beehoon stall deserves it. I paid 7.50 for an order of beehoon with ngoh hiang haepia fritters. The owner switched and gaveme this. Other rhan dishonesty...I found bits of tinywhite insect and bugs in the ingredients. Steer clear of this stall!

Family have been eating the Nonya Mee Siam for many years. We love the grilled fish, fried chicken stall (which we have patronised over more than a decade) and also the Ngoh Hiang Heh Piah stall… In the day, the economic rice stall has a wide variety of dishes to choose from. The Zi char is also quite popular.

First time heard of such thing buy popiah must order minimum quantity 2 pcs. They used to sell 1 pc but today told us that they selling at least MOQ 2pcs. Is it because the customer was a young girl? The signboard still clearly showed price for 1 pc. Where in the menu was stated must buy 2 pcs minimum order quantity? Will not patronise again. Needless to say some of the food quality standard there also dropped already.

Sometime salty and sometime bland. Don’t be deceived by the color. It’s very bland. Please don’t add excessive water when it’s crowded. Test your soup before selling.

I just bought a pack of rice with 2 veg and 1 meat. The price list there indicate $3.40. However I was asked for $5.40. When I ask why, they say the meat I chose was premium grade, so it is additional $3.00 plus $2.40. This is definitely not the first time I am ordering this meat and I was never charge in this manner. The lady that serve me has a darker skin tone. And perhaps the stall owner should make some indicate on which are the premium grade dishes so that people will chose dishes within the budget.

Coffeeshop recently renovated. A bowl of sliced / fried fish soup with beehoon sets you $6.50. Sliced fish is thick, chunky and no fishy taste. Fried fish is well-fried. There's a TV right outside the stall and at the seating area, displaying your queue number. Be it dine in or for delivery partners (Grab, FoodPanda & Deliveroo). The fried fish soup was OK. The sliced fish with milk didn't have a good taste. Milk kinda tasted weird. Overpowering. Been coming here since 2016+ for their fish soup. Safe to say, their fried fish standard always been the same. Skip the oyster omelette.

Depends what you mean as atmosphere but as far as local kopitiam type it’s authentic 😊 What I like to tell you about is the “soft” bread I tried today it is soft like a feather pillow 😂 and when eaten with soft boiled 🥚 that’s yummy 😋 Try it… but not die die must try la but it’s really enjoyable la… ps: 1-Aug to 15-Sep CLOSED for renovation and they NEED TO bcuz their public convenience 🚽 is deplorable -1000 ⭐️ So be warned ⛔️ #failure

The place is quite popular in the neighborhood Usually come in for breakfast and the drinks will need to que and at upper price range than others kopitiam, expect to be at least 2sgd per drink order. Will recommend the Economy fry bihun, fish soup stall and kueychap

  • 1/5 Z a. 1 year ago on Google
$8 for this from 401 delights (3 fried items, 2 packets of beehoon). Worth it? It's up to you. However I would just like to say that this coffeeshop has changed drastically from what it was in the past, from authentic local food to all franchises run by foreigners. Everything is expensive here probably due to being opp punggol park and it's always crowded and noisy with little spacing. Only plus point is that it's open till pretty late so come here only if there's no other options. I recommend going to the nearby neighborhood point at hougang village blk 684 where there are 2 coffeeshops, 1 prata place, labula mala or mac's which are all open till early morning.

Mixed veg rice here is a trick eye museum. They had a fried fish head dish with lots of 🍆 on top that looks more like curry veg and tofu cubes dish as seen here with shrimps that you don’t see coming and being deemed as meat/seafood dish. Nevertheless, the sweet and sour pork is solid meat and not flour clusters 👍🏻.

Ordered $4 white carrot cake with chilli. Food served was lukewarm and seemed to have been cooked in advance and put back into a pot to be served later if anyone orders. Realised that they didn’t add chilli and went back. Lady simply just added chili on top to the carrot cake. Not worth the $4. Amount itself was miserable. No spring onions as well.. can give this a miss.
