Even though this place is open 24/7, it is mostly popular as a late night spot. The food is average, the atmosphere is very basic, but the staff are super nice & friendly. 💕

I recently dined at Chapultepec Lupita, and while it is a decent place overall, I found that the food did not quite meet my expectations, especially considering the price point. Chapultepec Lupita offers a comfortable and inviting atmosphere, with its vibrant decor and lively ambiance. The restaurant has a warm and welcoming feel, making it a pleasant spot to enjoy a meal with friends or family. However, when it comes to the food itself, I was left somewhat disappointed. While the menu offers a variety of Mexican dishes, ranging from tacos to enchiladas, the flavors and execution fell short of what I anticipated. The dishes lacked the vibrant and authentic taste I had hoped for, leaving them rather mediocre. Furthermore, considering the price charged for the food, I expected a higher level of quality. Unfortunately, the flavors and presentation did not justify the cost, making it feel like an overpriced dining experience. I believe that for the price paid, diners should be able to enjoy a more satisfying and flavorful meal. The service at Chapultepec Lupita was adequate, with the staff being polite and attentive. They promptly took our orders and ensured our needs were met throughout the meal. However, the lackluster food overshadowed the otherwise acceptable service. In conclusion, while Chapultepec Lupita offers a pleasant atmosphere and satisfactory service, I found the food to be mediocre, especially considering the price point. The lack of vibrant flavors and underwhelming execution left me disappointed. There is definitely room for improvement in the quality and value offered. If you decide to dine at Chapultepec Lupita, it might be best to temper your expectations regarding the food and be prepared for a dining experience that may not live up to its potential.

Really good food!!! Came in here for a late snack and was pleasantly surprised at their extensive margarita/drink menu and their food was so delicious! Torta loca was 🤤 perfection! The fajitas smelled great too this place is good for some authentic Mexican food all times of the day! So glad we found this place!

Had the #45 Plato Estilo San Luis and two fajita one-taco in separate orders - one chicken and one beef. The #45 was large, had ample steak, covered with lots of mushrooms, bell peppers, onions, cheese. Good amount of refried beans and Mexican rice. Tasted very good - beef was tender. A measly bit of lettuce and a slice of tomato. Both tacos had substantial amount of meat, but since it was packed in one box, they only gave one thin quarter slice of tomato and very small amount of lettuce - definitely an oversight. Order automatically came with free chips and be a very spicy salsa that's bottle-and-sell worthy.

This place has been a favorite of mine since the early 90s. Although the area has changed around it greatly, they still serve up the greasiest, gooiest flameado in town. I hope the rich people do not end up buying this place up and replacing it with a nail salon.

Today I had the ground beef Chile Rellenos plate, it was delicious. The plate came with rice, refried beans and flour tortillas. The portions were good and you also get chips and salsa, the salsa was a little spicy as it made me sneeze 🤧. Nice dinner and good atmosphere.

Please don’t come and save your time!!! This is the worst Mexican/ Tex-mex place I’ve ever been in Houston!! Drinks taste like water but you’re still paying full price. Vibes are… silent? The salsa seemed like it had been used 5 times before they gave it to us 😖 And the bathroom had cockroaches 🪳 To the owner: pleaseee! you can do better!! To the clients: don’t come until things are better. Is not worth it now!

What a gem of a late-night spot! The bars may close at 2, but swing by here during the next two hours for some of the heartiest (and cheapest) drunk food in town. Additionally, the staff are incredibly accommodating, and there are many of them on shift even at the latest hours. You can truly tell this is a family-owned business with heart. My friend and I mutually agreed *this* is where going every time we're hungry after the bars! If you're getting bored eating at the same taco truck over and over during your Montrose bar hop, swing by here; you will not be disappointed and will probably save a few bucks, too.

This is quickly becoming one of my favorite go to restaurants. My Fidello con Pollo was served hot and soupy in a bowl with tender dark chicken meat, carrots, onion and whole jalapeño served with tortillas, hot sauce and chips. They’re prices are beyond reasonable while most restaurants are raising their prices Chapultepec Lupita’s is giving it away. ❤️

This place was deserving of what I call the "YIKES" category. The men's restroom is barely big enough for one person to be able to fit in. I ordered the chimichanga and it was the only thing that was hot on my plate besides the actual plate itself. My dad ordered the beef fajitas and the waitress gave him the chicken fajitas. In all seriousness they only served him about 1 cup of cooked beef fajitas for $20. Plus half a cup of bell peppers and another half cup of grilled onions. We were the second group of people in there for the whole time we were there, about an hour. My mom ordered the tacos al carbon and they were good sized tacos 2 for $16. But the rice and the beans were room temperature. The beans were watery for mine and hers while the "Mexican rice" tasted like instant rice with chicken bouillon to give it the color we all associate with Mexican style rice. All of our sides were room temperature. And the waitress did the bare minimum of her job. She never once came to give us a refill and she didn't come to check us out only to see how much we left as a tip.

This is a good place to stop for lunch. I ordered the Lunch Combination Plate and everything was good, but the enchiladas were what really stood out. Whatever sauce they use there is incredible. Prices and service were great.

First, let me say the food was phenomenal. I’m biased to a good hole in the wall & this one did not disappoint. Everyone spoke & was friendly as soon as we walked in. Our waitress was so kind & walked us through the menu while keeping our glasses full. None of us were super hungry, so we kept it simple and ordered street tacos with beans & rice. And y’all they cooked our food with love. The chips are homemade and crispy while the salsa is flavorful with a little kick at the end. For a group to come in not really hungry & leave with 3 empty plates. lol We’ll definitely be back!

Food was amazing, and they’re open super late so if you get off work and you need to figure out a good place to go. Good vibes, good place good cheap food. This is definitely the spot. Also it’s a good vibe to take a girl after the bar. If you don’t have many places, this is definitely a good spot.

Let’s begin at the beginning. I needed to use the restroom & wash my hands. Yes it was small but immaculately clean & stocked. Menu has a huge variety of selections. I started with a small Chile con queso. Enough for 2 people easily. DELICIOUS!!!! Chips were whole and not broken into little pieces and fragments & the salsa was so fresh!! Unbelievable. I decided to order a La carte since I hadn’t been to this restaurant in almost 40 years. It was clean and the service was awesome. I ordered a beef crispy taco and it was FILLED with ground beef. I also ordered a side of refried beans. Meh… good but not great. I had 2 Chiles Toreados. I asked for Serrano peppers instead of jalapenos and received them. HOT!!! HOT!!!!! Wonderful! I also had a tamale which was very nice and a side order of guacamole which was a little bit of a disappointment. I’m going back next week and I will have pictures for you! A La Carte was definitely more expensive but I wanted to try what I wanted to try. Plus I got 2 whole meals out of it so $26 total was reasonable. All in all, very very good! Ok… I’m going to change my review. I went again today with a friend. This time I ordered Enchiladas with Mole. The mole sauce was too watered down. Almost no flavor. I ordered one chicken enchilada, one cheese and one spinach…NO to the spinach. Gag me. All positives above remain.

delicious authentic texmex food. Loved that there’s also a jukebox where you can select music and play throughout the restaurant

The best caldo de res! 100% authentic. My husband and I went to go eat caldo in a 100 degree weather! That’s how good it was. And it also comes with corn tortillas which were delicious. I noticed this caldo had chayote which is a squash and is a potent vegetable and rich in antioxidants which helps to kill cancer. The staff was very nice and personable. This restaurant has been open since the 70s! We will definitely come back.

Mexican nachos are a must try I did add on lettuce and rice to mine but overall awesome nachos. The service was great. Drinks were refilled without asking. The restrooms are a little weird the women are upstairs the men's you have to go downstairs and they are small. So not really handicap accessible.

1st of all to Mario Guttierrez who rated 1Star. Why are all the events you described labeled White woman, Black man, Mexican man, white man? Lol this is Houston! I thought we were ALL just "People" here. Anyway I've been patronizing this place since the 80s and although food quality has roller coastered over the years my most recent visit was great. Sometimes the salsa is overspiced making it TOO hot to actually enjoy it but it was full of tomatoes peppers and other ingredients which made it thick and tasty. My heat tolerance is very high since I eat a lot of spicy foods but on that night it was so hot it numbed my taste buds for everything else. Tried the chimichanga and it was super great. So was my waitress that night who checked on me regularly to make sure I had everything I wanted and that I was satisfied with my food.

Normal tasting food. The place is old and has an odor. Only one choice of salsa. The fresh water ain’t fresh. It’s made with the sugar packet. Like Mexican koolaid. For authentic I would go elsewhere.

This was my first time at the restaurant. I went to meet a friend who had recommended the place for lunch. There was plenty of parking available, and the restaurant gave off one of those hole in the wall vibes. It's easy to pass by and dismiss, but inside it's far bigger than it appears, and the staff are friendly and efficient too...no super long wait for food. We ordered appetizers and lunch specials, and I ordered dessert as well. All the foods were delicious, presented well, and came in very good portion sizes. They also serve their breakfast menu all day, so that's another nice option for customers. I was very pleased, and now I can see why this restaurant has been serving its patrons for a very long time...they are good at what they do! So we had a very good experience.
