Had our wedding and reception here on a Saturday and couldn't be happier with how everything turned out. Mariana is an absolute all-star, and her venue is unbeatable for 100-125 guests. All 3 bars were stocked and staffed by fantastic bartenders. Her DJ was outstanding and easy to work with - I sent him a list of songs for each phase, he picked up the vibe and rolled with it. The lighting, decor, flowers, succulents... literally everything Mariana put together was amazing and I'm eternally grateful to her for putting it all together and coordinating all the fine details. 11/10

Went here for the first time last night for the short and sweet speakeasy burlesque show and will definitely be back! I honestly can’t believe I haven’t been before. The outdoor space is enchanting and the indoor is the perfect vibe for the burlesque speak easy show. The house was built in 1896 and is gorgeous. The whole place reminds me a bit of NOLA. There is parking on site but it’s very limited, so I’d suggest the neighborhood behind Numbers nightclub is your best bet and it’s like a 2-4 min walk away. There are also food trucks in the parking lot which smelled awesome but we didn’t try. And you can bring food from them into the garden area. Definitely stop by here for drinks, one of their event nights which you can find the calendar for on their website, and I’d highly recommend going to see the burlesque show on Friday nights! It’s different every week and such a good time. It’s an intimate setting with only about 20-25 seats and a bar in the back of the room. We’ll definitely be back many more times in the future. Tip: If you buy your tickets through FEVR you get a free drink included with each ticket! For the burlesque show!

Love this bar! Great ambiance. They have heaters on their patio in the winter time so it is cozy. They have great drink specials if you pay with cash. There is a food truck with delicious tacos that’s always parked up front. Five start. Would recommend!

Our guests had the best time at our private party on Monday. Many thanks to Mariana and Minerva the authentic wood fire pizza 🍕 along with the bubbly 🍾 👌 lite bites and apps were great. We will return soon!

I could not say enough good things. Mariana and her team are exceptional! She was so calm which kept me calm the day of the wedding. We went the with more expensive all inclusive package and it was worth every penny. Our friends and family loved the venue and the tacos were amazing. We can’t wait to go back to celebrate our many anniversaries!

Nice bar with beautiful outdoor patio. Visited for a poetry Slam evenr which was awesome! Service at the indoor bar was very slow. It was cold outside and the heaters where not on. Very limited parking. You'll most likely have to park about 2 or 3 blocks away at the neighborhood behind. Just double check it is not a tow zone. Dog friendly.

Nice low key spot. Small so can sometimes get quite full but very fun. They had a love jazz duo when I went. Limited parking

We recently had our wedding at AvantGarden and it was absolutely amazing! Mariana is incredibly dedicated to ensuring that the day goes as perfectly as possible. She has lots of experience coordinating weddings and knew how to handle every little thing that came up. In the planning stages, she instantly understood the aesthetic we were going for, and it was executed perfectly. We were blown away by the flowers, taco truck, cake, and the wonderful staff. Mariana and her staff set up all the decorations and dance floor props we brought, and helped gather all our things at the end of the night. They also had fun with us - the DJ was dancing all night long and the bartenders were wearing our LED flower crowns, which made us happy! It felt like everyone wanted to celebrate with us. Our guests had a blast and we received lots of comments about how fun the wedding was. They raved about how delicious the tacos were. The venue is unique, charming, and so beautiful - especially under the lights at dinner. The atmosphere is magical and dream-like, and the venue photographs beautifully as well. We have zero reservations when it comes to recommending AvantGarden!

Amazing venue with great staff, and the pizzas are delicious. I love that this seems to have been a house and is now a place to hang out and, if you're there on the right night (Wednesdays), you can catch one of the best poetry shows in the country. A definite recommended stop in Houston!

This place was nice. I was there for a private event in their garden area so I didn't get to experience the bar or the inside of the place but the outside atmosphere was good. It was like a little hidden gem. This would be really nice for any outdoor events like a wedding reception or a private event. The parking lot is super small and you have to find parking and walk over.

Cute venue with a lot of different events going on (jazz, hookah, poetry nights, etc.) - I went for a poetry slam and was not disappointed! Such great performances from the poets.

I recently had a wedding at Avant Garden and it was the wedding of my dreams. I wanted a wedding with warmth, beauty and mystery, where little girls danced with their dads and people fell in love in candlelit corners and longtime couples reconnected under the moon, and we danced until we could dance no more. This is exactly how it is at a wedding at Avant Garden. The enchanting old house has a dark sparkly New Orleans meets Houston Montrose feeling. The paper lanterns and garden and flowers felt like a fairyland (and all the photographs reflect that) . Our guests loved the food! That taco truck is outstanding. Everybody was delighted. The cheese board and sweets table was also delicious and beautiful, and the cake (Tres Leches style from a famous East End Houston bakery) was a big hit. Mariana has a fantastic staff and they have got weddings down to a T. They seamlessly guided the events of the evening. I didn’t have to worry about a thing. The valet parking was great, and the DJ was so friendly and had a great sense of how to keep the party going. As for the bartender- even the New Orleans guests were impressed and that’s saying something. (If you know, you know.) I especially loved the little after-party upstairs. I honestly can’t think of any other venue that would let you party until 2 AM. Avant Garden has a long history here in Montrose, and it brought back the days of dancing at the venue back when it was Helios and before that, Mausoleum. Throughout all of this, Mariana was a quiet but constant presence. We had our ceremony elsewhere (Avant Garden was the reception venue) and she even came to this other location to help. Some reviews mention that Mariana did not show up for a planned initial meeting. This happened to us, but everything turned out okay. If it happens to you just eat at the taco truck and reschedule. She will come through. Mariana has been active in the Montrose arts community for many years. She has preserved a physical historic space and also a cultural one. Apart from my wedding, I am grateful for her contributions to Montrose. Thank you so much Mariana! They have a taco truck that makes the best street Mexican tacos I have ever had. This venue is amazing. The atmosphere is inviting, so far Wednesdays are my favorite nights. I love it. The balconies, the spiral staircase, the wrap around porch, it’s a unique and spacious garden where you can truly vibe.

The atmosphere was Fantastic, the people were very attentive, responsive, and personable. But it was extremely hot as there is no A/C. So if you host an event, hand out fans to your guests. The food was delicious, but the food truck took from the ambiance. Perhaps if they would paint it to match the elegance of the venue, it wouldn't be so bad to walk out to the truck. But, all in all, it was a great place to host an event.

We absolutely recommend AvantGarden for couples who are looking to have an authentic, colorful, and relaxed wedding! The music, ambience, and charm had our guests raving about the fun and beauty of our special day. I was drawn to this venue because I spent many years living in the heart of New Orleans, embracing the richness of courtyard gardens and classic architecture. That made AvantGarden such an easy pic. I also loved that we could provide our guests from all over the United States a chance to experience a touch of the classic and authentic feel of this diverse and cultured city. I must also add that our day was very cold and rainy. This did not disrupt our experience in the least. Mariana and her team did an exceptional job reassuring me throughout the day leading up to our ceremony that all would be marvelous despite the terrible weather. The patio where the ceremony and dinner took place was covered and heated well. Lastly, the food truck was awesome! Efficient and incredibly tasty.

We went to watch a burlesque show for my friend's birthday. The host and the dancers were really entertaining. We had an amazing time and really enjoyed the show. We then went outside after the show to the patio and they had a live band. The whole experience was really great and I do plan to go again.

We come here on Wednesdays for poetry slam night but went there yesterday for live jazz music. It is always such a good experience and their sangria is good.

Crazy parking but the vibe on a Monday🔥🔥🔥 outdoor patio seating. I got to meet and converse with the live jazz band as well as Horace Grigsby(legend)🤗 They were all absolutely amazing. Looking forward to dropping thru again in the near future. Early arrival suggested for days later on in the week due to parking/ seating

I have always enjoyed visiting AvantGarden and even had my wedding and reception here on 11/14/2021. It was fantastic! Mariana and her staff made sure everything was perfect and my guests had a great time! Would highly recommend to anyone to is looking for a beautiful location for their event!

Monday Nights Jazz Jam, come check it out. You'll have a great time I promise. Very friendly staff. There is an outside area with heat lamps as well if you don't want to sit inside. I will keep coming back for sure!

amazing venue. we had our wedding there and cannot recommend it highly enough. we loved the vibe of the venue, and the owner set it up even better than I could have imagined on the day of. all of the details that I did not think of she did and made that day stress free and fun. she helped us postpone our wedding twice and even caught some wedding crashers so they weren't on our bar tab. :)
