TL;DR must visit, delicious authentic Irish food and decor with live music frequently. Today was my first time coming into this wonderful establishment and it was well worth the visit. I've driven past many times but should have entered much sooner. The atmosphere is warm and inviting and the staff was welcoming and friendly. We had a lot of questions and the bartender was patient and knowledgeable and answered all of them. When you enter the stage is to your left and the bar is toward the back though you can't really see it from the front door. There lots of Irish history and culture lining the walls. We stopped in looking for a nice breakfast but unfortunately missed brunch. FORTUNATELY however they have a full irish breakfast on the menu all day and we jumped at the opportunity. We got a full Irish breakfast with an appetizer of some scotch eggs and let me tell you it was well worth it. Its a tradition when I travel back to ireland to get a full Irish breakfast in Dublin airport and this put me right back there fresh off the plane and with a delicious hot meal in front of me. The beans, the irish bacon, sausage, tomato and eggs were fantastic and the best and closest to an authentic Irish breakfast I've had outside of Ireland and moms kitchen. Will certainly be back and might have to make saturday breakfast a tradition here. We also got fish and chips to go but haven't tried them yet though they look delicious. Don't forget to ask for hp sauce.

What a great place. I have been to many Irish Pubs all across the USA and in Ireland and this place is pretty good. The food was excellent and they have many drinks to choose from. Live music almost every night and on Wednesday they have Irish music. Outside patio area is very nice. Lots to do here. The dessert was exceptional. We had the Mac and cheese with bacon as an appetizer and the Guinness stew as a entree and they were both great. I would recommend this place if you want to have some drinks or some good Irish food. Go and enjoy the music also. We will be going back.

We arrived at 6:30 on a Monday and we’re told it was an hour wait. We decided to go to bar and we’re informed we could eat there. That was good. Service was excellent and the manager, Brandon, was hospitable and friendly. The food was very good for a beachside eatery. The cocktails were strong and tasty. Overall, an excellent dinner.

McGonigel’s Mucky Duck is an intimate venue for enjoying music, friends, food and drinks!🍹 And it’s an absolute PLUS if you also manage to patronize this establishment on a night that the wonderful Annika Chambers & Paul Deslauriers are performing. 😌 Just saying. NOTE: These videos and photos are from the Good Trouble album release party for the married duo, Annika Chambers & Paul Deslauriers! 🎉

McGonigel’s Mucky Duck is always a joy to visit! Great music, great drinks (the Bees Knees is my favorite cocktail), great food (try the shepherd’s pie) and great ambiance. Nice selection of whiskey as well!

Great place to watch an upclose intimate concert with friends. Not a bad seat in the house. We recently went to watch Eric Hutchinson and the staff was very prompt, friendly and attentive. Decor is eclectic but fun with something unique everywhere you look. Food smelled and looked good but we only ordered a couple of drinks. And that is where the problem came in... we expected them to be at a premium but for what you get we both left feeling they were over priced. My wife got an espresso martini that ended up costing $20 and I don't drink so I got a handcrafted soda and it came in a 3oz glass for $9. For the price I would of expected at least a whisky glass size.

Their food and their drinks are always delicious, and the atmosphere is always great. Been going here on and off for 5 or so years and it still is extra special. The staff is amazing, and super tentative to the patrons. I will always recommend this place if you're looking for good food and amazing drinks!

My friend and I decided to walk to this place while in the area. Immediately we were stopped by a man at the door asking if we had tickets, we said no we just want to go to the bar. He curtly said we can’t go inside, we can only walk around to the back. I understand the idea of a ticketed event but there was no sign at the front indicating the current event & the worker at the front could have been nicer about directing us. After walking to the back to order a drink, we were pleasantly surprised at the taste of the Irish coffee. Not sure if I’ll go back because of the prices and overall staff interactions.

My friend and I went to a show here for the Anachronicals. It was a great set and lovely atmosphere. Their music really suited the small cozy atmosphere will. It was a great turnout as well. The food was decent. I had come here before for lunch and my friend had gotten the fish and chips and they were nice, hot and crispy. I ordered the fish and chips this night and two were stale, one was good. So, I kind of cut my losses with that... We also got the mark Portugal sandwich that wasn't as good as we thought it would be, especially being one of their signature dishes. For it to be an open face sandwich, it didn't have enough going on to be considered an open face sandwich IMO.. It was like a subway sandwich, that you could fold, and still eat without a mess. Vegetables or something on top would have been a welcome sight. We also got the guv'nors mousse . Unless you're a super chocolate lover, I wouldn't order this, as it is a bitter chocolate.. My friend wanted it more so than I did, so that's what we got. The little chocolate sticks that come in it, were perfection! 🤤I would have preferred the boozy cake or the chocolate chip cookie pizza with ice cream. They were out of the cider that my friend wanted to order as well, so that was a bit of a disappointment! But he settled for a Guinness and enjoyed it. He said that it was a perfect pour! I know nothing about the pour of a beer, but apparently this one took the cake! So, if you're looking for a bartender with a perfect pour, they have one!

I would rate the lunchtime restaurant experience here at 3.5 stars. My favorite dish is their fish and chips, with a house-prepared tar tar sauce. They have many beers on tap at their very respectable bar.

What a great Houston staple with some of the best live music in the country, and amazing food.

Small venue with nice concerts and pub atmosphere. Nice food (I love the welsh, and also the Shepherd’s Pie and Beef Guinness) that pairs well with a Guinness Stout.

I went there this evening for a business meeting with several people. Even had a surprise visit from the owner and his wife! GREAT atmosphere, EXCELLENT FOOD and superb service. It’s been a while since my last visit. If you are considering taking a friend or business associate here, do it!!!

The food is consistently great. The service staff and management are fabulous. The venue for enjoying "the livest music in Texas" is intimate. The audience is normally composed of serious listeners so it makes for a very nice evening.

Great venue! Not a bad seat in the house. The service was awesome. The food is really good and so are the drinks. Ask for Ray the bartender he really took good care of us.

Nice Irish comfort food and great selection of alcohol if you like that kind of drink, but it's $35 entrance fee for live music that wasn't all that. I was born in Texas but I don't like country music. This is an Irish Pub. Come on. Please. Anything else. I know this is Houston, but for the love of variety, try something else. The atmosphere was like watching your inebriated uncle try to tell extremely unfunny stories to your family during a game of Monopoly.

The Duck is a wonderful and intimate showcase for live music with a good crisp sound system. They also offer a good menu with a nice selection of food made with fresh and quality ingredients plus they have an extensive drink menu.

I went for a Bruce Robison concert tonight. Was sat at a 2 top in the very front row for no extra charge. Believe because I was a little earlier than the other 2 tops. Service was fast considering the venue and setup. VERY good selection of cocktails, beer and wine. Even had some of my favorite beers available from Prairie Artisan ales. I am half English and lived part of my life in England. The pub style food was better than most I have had in England and suggest the pie trio. Definitely will go back.

Met Friends for lunch today at Mucky Duck. The food was amazing. I had the hearty Guinness Stew and it was very good. One friend had the 3-variety mini pot pies and said the best she had ever had. Great wine selection. Being right after Christmas, it was a quiet day. Our server let us sit and visit and drink our wine without feeling rushed. Loved the food, the atmosphere…great service. Highly recommend.

Enjoyed Evelyn Rubio and her awesomely talented blues contingent last night! Always a great time there. Very reasonably priced. Intimate venue for music.

Excellent venue for a show, dinner, and drinks! Very old school, classy, Irish pub! I ate the Wee Trio which is shepherds pie, chicken pot pie, and steak, mushroom, and Guinness I believe.

First time visit. Cons: This place needs to clean it's beer lines. The Guinness was okay, but two of the other beers sucked. They had that funky bacterial taste. The small group playing traditional Irish music was good, but in a full room with no microphones & speakers, it wasn't as enjoyable as it could have been. Finally the place seemed a little dirty. Pros: This is a neat, tucked away little bar with a great vibe. The food offerings are what you would expect from an Irish bar and they looked and smelled great (though I, myself did not eat - see my last comment in Cons). It's one of the few places you can hea tradional Irish music in Houston and, despite the very low volume, it was quite a treat. Overall: I am assuming I caught them on an off night. So, I'll definitely be back.

Fish and Chips are way too expensive! $22 for 3 medium size portions. The cod was fresh and light but the chips were just like frozen American french fries. Would of been better with fresh hand cut potatoes. Not worth the price. If you're from the UK or Ireland don't get your hopes up with this one, not even close to tasting like home.

It has shamefully been maybe a decade since I was last at The Duck. I loved it then and love it even more now!! Their concert venue is intimate. The food was great and our server did a great job with our table of 4. We look forward to returning soon!
