One of the best parks in the city. I’ve been going to this park since I was a kid and it has grown so much. It’s great for a day with family and friends, or even if you want to go by yourself. So let me tell you a little bit about this park: - The main trail is a 3 mile loop that goes around memorial park. There are plenty of public restrooms, portable restrooms, water fountains, seating areas, paid and free parking. - On the north side of the park you can find a work out area, tennis courts, volleyball courts, soccer field, running track, EV charging stations, and an outdoor shower station if you need a quick rinse. - On the east side of the park you can find baseball fields, soccer field, golf course entrance, a Becks Prime restaurant, a church, a playground for kids, a swimming pool, and the Eastern Glades, which has a trail of its own with lots of picnic areas. - On the south side of the park is the land bridge that connects 2 above-ground lawns. This part of the park has a big prairie that has its own trail, which also connects to hiking/biking trails known as the “Buffalo Wilds” that are on the south end of it. - On the west side of the park, is where you can find, in my opinion, the most accessible parking. There’s also a decent size field where lots of dog owners like to take theirs dogs to give them a break from the leash. There’s also an additional trail across the street which tends to be less crowded compared to the main trail. This park is a place you must visit, especially if you’re visiting the Galleria area. Easily one of my top 5 favorite parks in the city of Houston. Hope you like it as much as I do. 😊 Fun fact: Bunnies come out after midnight, and armadillo come out every now and then.

My life changed at this park! Lost almost 40lbs coming out here daily as the sun would rise every morning. Run paths are clear. Easy on the knees. There’s plenty of runner, walkers and a few kids on bikes on the weekends.

One of my favorite spots to walk in the city! The walking loop is exactly 3 miles if you stay on the main path, and it’s a very easy walk. The park is very well maintained and clean, and there are nice amenities such as restrooms, water fill stations, and other facilities to enjoy (golf course, tennis, bike paths, pond, etc.). There are several access points and it’s located right next to the arboretum as well.

One of the best parks in the Houston area, Memorial Park contains a multitude of fitness activities including golf course, running trail, , picnic areas, baseball fields, volleyball courts, tennis center, fitness / pool center, and off-road hiking and biking trails. While parking can be tight, especially during events, there’s free street parking and multiple paid parking lots. Plenty of public restrooms that are clean and well-maintained along with water fountains. The main 5k trail is mostly unshaded so make sure to take plenty of water.

This is by far one of my favorite urban parks in the country. For runners, having such a long 3 mile trail within the city is fantastic and with all the new amenities the park is building is only making this place better. As a long time user of this park, I’m excited for what is to come!

Memorial Park is a hidden gem in Houston, Texas. It's one of the largest urban parks in the United States, with over 1,400 acres of lush green space, miles of trails, and a variety of amenities. If you're looking for a place to escape the hustle and bustle of the city, Memorial Park is the perfect destination. There are plenty of opportunities to get some exercise, enjoy the outdoors, and relax in nature. One of the most popular activities in Memorial Park is running. The park has a 3-mile loop that is well-maintained and perfect for runners of all levels. There are also several other trails in the park that are perfect for hiking, biking, and walking. If you're looking for a more leisurely activity, you can simply enjoy a picnic in one of the park's many shaded areas. There are also several playgrounds and sports fields in the park, making it a great place to take kids.

I have countless wonderful memories here, and always find it calming to walk here after a stressful day at work and want to decompress. It’s well lit throughout so even if it’s a little bit late, there are still lights to guide you and plenty of people walking that you still feel safe. The trail is dynamic and has encloses 3 mi in one loop. Easy to get steps in!

I love this park.. a nice trail great for hiking and running with a beautiful scenery. A cute pond where you can enjoy nature and enjoy nature. I lived in Houston for 2 years and this was my favorite place in the city. So peaceful. IMO. This is a nice hiking trail, very well maintained. Awesome place to get out in nature but stay basically in town and There’s plenty of paid parking, which is also very close/right next to the trail. Also a nice place for a picnic right next to the pond … Very easy to access. Dog friendly! This is probably the only places I truly enjoyed in Houston. Very nice park and trail. I totally recommend this place if you’re an outdoorsy person. A super busy and popular path with lots of joggers. Have fun!

This is a great place to go with the family. I like to walk or run on the 3 mile loop. It is a gravel type path that has lots of trees and shade along the path. It does not allow bikes or scooters but occasionally there are bikers on it. It is kept clean and has plenty of trash cans, water stations and restrooms. I have not had a problem with insects and never needed bug spray on this loop. The parking is not bad and I always find a spot within a minute or 2 of arrival. There are some workout areas as well as benches, tennis courts, open fields and lakes to enjoy. This is a great place for a family walk, exercise, or my kids use it for cross country training as it’s close to a 5k

We had fun coming to memorial park today. Haven't been here i. Over 15 years and coming here reminded me of when I was younger walking the trails and having fun.first time coming here with the family and they loved it. The weather was excellent today to hit the trails and explore the park. We will be coming here more often.

My first time here in a long, long time and I'm super impressed. The Eastern Everglades area is just amazing. Lots of really well kept trails, no garbage or trash anywhere at all. Lots of rest room facilities. Water fountains galore, and the kind where you can fill a water bowl for dogs or a water container. Today it was decorated for the holidays. Lights and ornaments on the light poles, a huge Christmas tree, and light arrangements everywhere. I was so inspired. It was a great run for me. Lots of people, walking, jogging, and in family groups & lots of dogs. Just a really great experience. I'll be back. A lot!

This place is both beautiful and amazing. The project to revitalise Memorial Park in my opinion is a huge success. It serves a multitude of needs from education through fitness and wellness and is a sheer pleasure to explore with hikes, bike trails and running. The work that has been performed over the last year is outstanding and something Houston should be very proud of. I love this place which has always been dear in my heart.

Great park in Central Houston. Lot of free parking easily available. Many amenities including cafes, toilets and tennis, baseball courts. Huge park with extensive walking and cycling trails available. Found a fun and varied walk including forests and lakeside walks too. Would love to come back another time to explore more of park, particularly on South side.

Beautiful remodel and addition to the old Memorial Park! Nice winding pathways, a pretty lake with cute Lilly pads and croaking bull frogs, a covered pavilion with a couple foods trucks, plenty of restrooms and water fountains, even for the pups! We did 4 miles today in the gorgeous sunshine, among the lovely flowers and great energy from everyone around. Parking is paid. They take credit cards. It was $1.00 for 2 hours. Highly recommend this delightful area. They did such a good job!

The updated 3 mile trail is absolutely stunning. I’ve been using this park for 15 years and it’s gone from beautiful to just spectacular and more nature oriented. Also, I know that I and all the runners hated that it was 2.9 miles before the update! I love enjoying the scenery and how it no longer goes too close to the road. The land bridge is nothing short of stunning. If you’ve been away for a long time, come back. I love it. Photos from 11/10/2023, 8 am, during a light rain.

The new Memorial Park is amazing. I love the land bridges, they changed the terrain of the 3-mile running loop so that side near Memorial Parkway isn't so narrow, it's all very nicely graded and wide all the way around. The land bridges make it easy to explore a very large area on the other side. The new Eastern Glades are very pretty. It's like a whole new park.

I really enjoyed taking a long leisurely walk through nature. Being a high ozone day, walking beneath a canopy of trees and surrounded by foliage is probably the best place to breathe. The hours clipped away as I found myself taking pictures and enjoying the departure from city sounds.

I love this place! The walk/jog 3-mile loop is unparalleled in all of Houston. The recent improvements of the new restrooms, the new wetlands, the new land bridge over the tunnels, tennis courts, softball and soccer fields, picnic areas, volleyball, and all super close to the galleria shopping/dinning options, make this one heck of a great park.

One of my favorite places in Houston to exercise is Memorial Park! This is one of the best maintained parks in Houston. Memorial has been going through a transformation, new trails and green spaces. Truly a Houston Treasure!! Upgraded restrooms beautifully designed and maintained throughout the park. Nature study spaces. Must See if your visiting Houston.

3 mile running trail, good for the knees with pavement. Occasionally water fountains, bathroom facility's, or portable potties depending on area of trail. If you pay attention and go when less people are around, you might even see wildlife.

Memorial Park is a Houston institution. Runners and walkers can be found making the approx. 3 mile / 5 km loop any time of day or night. The mainly dirt covered trail goes around tennis courts and a golf course as well as various scenic seating areas around the recently developed glades (ponds and areas with picnic tables). Following the refurbishment, there are now public toilets and water fountains around the loop. As for parking, plenty of on street parking available all around the loop. As for the heat, yes - Houston is hot and fortunately the loop at Memorial Park is shaded for the most part. It can be surprisingly cool even on a typical hot, humid day is Houston. Memorial Park is a must!

One of my fav places in Houston! There’s a lot of cool places to explore here. The open grass area if you feel like cartwheels, the 3 mile loop which is gravel/good for running/walking, the picnic areas and tables, the new walk over sky bridge is great for seeing sunrise/sunsets 🌅, the open prairie south of sky bridges is wide open space to feel like you’re not in a big City and can take a deep breath. These are a few of my favorite areas, but there’s also so much more besides those like biking trails, volley ball courts, pond, running track, great bathrooms, water fountains, hidden playground behind where the swings are, and more.

Love running here on weekends. The trails are well lit, there are plenty of restrooms along the running trail, and there is definitely plenty of parking all along most of the trail. Feels pretty safe even late at night, which is when I like to go running. Easy access in and out to 610 and 10.

Memorial Park's Picnic Loop offers a serene escape into nature without leaving the city bustle. The winding trail through the woods provides a truly relaxing experience, immersing you in the tranquility of nature. The lush surroundings create a perfect setting for a peaceful picnic, allowing you to unwind amidst the trees and greenery. One notable aspect is that the Picnic Loop is always open, providing flexibility for visitors to enjoy its beauty at their convenience. However, it's important to exercise caution and refrain from using the trails when they're muddy to preserve the integrity of the natural surroundings. Whether you're seeking a quiet picnic spot or a refreshing nature stroll, Memorial Park's Picnic Loop is a hidden gem that seamlessly blends the peacefulness of nature with the convenience of city living.

This is one of my favorite parks in Houston. I come here so often and every time I do it’s clean and busy. I love this park seriously! There are so many different trails to go on and explore & I would say it’s pretty safe! You do have to pay for parking I believe but it’s no more than 3$. You should definitely check it out if you’re in the area!!

Hands down, the best park to go when wanting to go for a walk or even relax and read a book. We’ve been living in Houston for a year and a half and I will always regret not taking more advantage of this place. Great hike trail and perfect areas to relax.

We love this park for many reasons. It has very clean and long trailers, good place to picnic, a lot of restrooms and drinking water stations and it is pet friendly. Bonus, beautiful flowers and lots of ducks and huge frogs if look carefully 😁

An amazing park with walking trails and areas for biking. Bring your dog and explore. There are lots for parking. You must pay to park. There are restrooms in the Running Trails building that are very clean. The new trees and newly installed grass is growing beautifully. There are paved and unpaved walkways. You will enjoy your time here.

  • 5/5 Delia G. 1 year ago on Google
First time back after being away and it's amazing. But the red dust on the trails got my shoes dirty. Otherwise the trails and the park are getting updated. There are more water stations and benches than before. I also noticed more restroom areas and picnic areas as well as grassy fields to play, picnic or nap. I'm excited to see the final park! And my dog loved it too!

Memorial park is one of our favorite. Our summer evenings never complete without this great park. It has everything expected from infant to adults to seniors. Swings for infants(4), kids(8) & teens/adults(8). Covered why fully green, kids love to walk, run and roll on the grass. You can find tables where the family can celebrate and enjoy your dinner and snacks. Got a kite 🪁? Perfect site to fly it. The kids play area is the highlight. On an ideal summer evening, you can find 20+ kids enjoying kids play area which entertains every kids with it's seesaw, sliders, hiking, rollers and much more. Adults and teens can go for jagging/running. You can cover up to 5+ miles in single round. The park is so big. Don't worry about the parking lot. There's lot and you can find more spots when you go inside. Overall this is well maintained park to make your evening feels good.

Big park. Nice to hang out, picnic, outdoors, bbq. The only problem is parking. Limited especially weekends and public holiday. Restrooms are available throughout the park.

It is an awesome place to run. I run almost 4 days in a week and it is always safe. There is a smooth house which opens at 7 am so you can get supply once you are done running or walking. I highly recommend to go there and walk or run.

This park is perfect for jogging or walking and enjoying the landscaping - it’s so beautiful like a mini botanical garden.

I love Memorial. For walking, for jogging, is a dog friendly park, very big, there are trash cans everywhere; love the plants, the nature. Everything is well kept, except THOSE PEOPLE WHO DO NOT CLEAN AFTER THEIR DOGS. It’s not the park’s fault, it’s the dog’s owner fault, I notice this happened more often after the pandemic, I wonder why?

We had a Marines Strength test here and everyone loved it! My Marines have been using the 3 mile loop regularly and I highly recommend. Reach out to your nearest Marine recruiting station if you’re interested in joining on the fun!

Oh what isn’t to love at Memorial Park! It just keeps growing and becoming bigger and better and different than any other park. The endless trails and beautiful scenery are beautiful not to mention the updated garden area. In my opinion I believe it’s way better than Central Park in NYC! And it’s definitely a great place for photographers!
