To
be
specific,
this
is
the
Wingate
Hotel
by
Wyndham.
In
other
words,
it
is
the
older
version
of
Wyndham
attached
to
the
newer
Wyndham.
My
wife
found
this
hotel
on
one
of
those
"same
room
for
a
lower
price"
locator
apps.
So
technically,
the
Wingate
is
the
same
hotel
as
the
Wyndham,
but
not
really.
Years
ago,
I
traveled
on
business
and
as
member
of
a
professional
board
of
directors.
Our
room
reminded
me
of
a
hotel/
motel
room
I
would
have
used
30
years
ago.
The
room
was
on
the
first
floor
and
not
too
far
from
the
lobby
desk.
It
was
a
little
small
but
clean.
The
paint
looked
recently
applied,
but
in
a
couple
of
places
looked
sloppy.
Our
first
floor
room
bordered
the
parking
lot:
When
I
tried
to
close
the
drapes
at
night
over
the
sheers,
I
realized
the
top
of
the
drapes
HAD
BEEN
NAILED
to
the
top
of
the
window
sill,
as
if
to
deter
customers
from
stealing
drapes.
😳
(This
was
a
new
one
for
me.)
The
TV
remote
was
pretty
worn
out
and
difficult
to
change
channels,
and
oddly,
the
picture
reception
was
very
grainy
in
lower
numbered
channels.
The
bathroom
was
clean
but
needed
some
work.
The
screws
holding
up
a
bag
holding
the
hair
dryer
were
loose.
But
another
new
one
for
me
was
that
the
plastic
toilet
seat
WOULD
NOT
STAY
UP
🤔
in
a
way
men
would
appreciate.
I'll
leave
it
at
that.
But
the
worst
thing
was
a
3-tone
alert
I
kept
hearing
every
10
minutes
or
so
past
3:00
AM.
I
couldn't
tell
from
where
it
came
until
I
adjusted
the
thermostat
in
the
wall
air
conditioner
from
70
to
68
degrees.
I
have
no
idea
why
the
alert
tones
stopped,
but
I
could
have
used
more
than
4
hours
sleep.
So,
why
didn't
I
report
any
of
this
to
the
front
desk?
Because
we
stayed
at
this
hotel
for
one
night
before
a
football
game
the
next
day
at
noon
which
would
be
over
by
3:00
PM,
and
we
were
on
the
road
back
home
by
4:00
PM.
But
with
the
negative
stuff
out
of
the
way,
there
were
many
positives.
The
location
of
the
hotel
was
very
convenient
to
NRG
Stadium
and
saved
me
the
cost
of
parking.
The
hotel
clerks
and
other
staff
were
friendly
and
efficient.
They
did
not
present
a,
"gee,
I
wish
I
worked
at
The
Wyndham,"
attitude.
Check-out
was
a
breeze
but
not
rushed.
The
buffet-style
complimentary
breakfast
was
provided
between
7:00
and
10:00
AM.
There
are
several
buffet
choices,
but
I
recommend
getting
there
before
9:30
AM
to
avoid
the
rush
before
a
noontime
Houston
Texans
football
game.
There
is
a
nice
courtyard
adjacent
to
the
dinning
area,
but
few
were
using
it
because
we
had
a
Houston
Texans
football
game!
Now
if
someone
would
just
fix
the
toilet
seat.
