Chose this place to celebrate our tenth anniversary. First time here and it did not disappoint. Matthew & Connor were the best waiters. The simple seafood tower is a must! We ordered the tagliatelle & the redfish on the half shell…delicious!

Came here to celebrate our anniversary and this restaurant truly made our night extra special! First of all, the atmosphere was airy, elevated but not pretentious at all. The staff were some of the most attentive and welcoming of all. They know the menu very well and give excellent recommendations. For starters, their complimentary dinner roll was delicious, accompanied by their house made butter. We also ordered crab fingers, hush puppies, a side of fries, and roasted oysters as appetizers. Crab fingers were fresh and fun to eat. The hush puppies were a bit sweet for my taste, even without power sugar. But my partner ended up liking it with the powder sugar. So it worked out that our waiter suggested in the first place to put powder sugar on the side for us. The peanut on the roasted oysters were a nice surprise but the overall taste and texture of the oysters fell a bit short. The bearnaise sauce accompanying the fries was perfect, though the fries were lacking the crisp texture. Then for entrees, we had pork jowl and filet mignon. The pork jowl was 10/10 and I highly recommend it for pork lovers. The flavor and texture of the pork were of perfect execution. The filet mignon was also delicious according to my partner, though the mashed potatoes wasn’t his favorite. But the minor issues of the dishes were more than made up by the staff taking notice and making sure that our feedback was noted. We concluded our dinner with two desserts, namely Texas pecan ball and blueberry pudding cake. The pecan ball really showcased chef’s perfect execution of the texture. Crunchy pecan and velvety chocolate on the outside with the vanilla ice cream on the inside. Overall one of the best dining experiences and we will come back for more!

Absolutely loved my experience at State of Grace. I really enjoyed eating the Hushpuppies Crab Cakes, and the steak was one of the best I have ever eaten! I think the best part of the experience was our server, he made sure that we were helped at all times and really went out of his way to make sure we had an amazing dinner.

Very diverse brunch menu, not usually a brunch person, but plenty of choices. The oysters are great, but read all the way down the menu to the tuna crudo and pickled shrimp. The pickled shrimp was spicy and creamy and excellent. Our table got the crab Benedict, which was a triumph, and the bush puppies were excellent. Ginger snap cream cookies were perfect desserts. Cocktails were excellent, had a spicy peppery mezcal drink, top of it's class.

So happy we discovered this gem in Houston! New favorite spot 😍 Everything was exceptionally tasty with creative mixture of flavors!! We ordered the butter salad so good, the lasagne with mushroom , the juicy half chicken and the eggplant side (although it was spicy, would ask to have it not spicy next time as I don’t like spicy food and didn’t know that it’s spicy). The service is beyond great really nice and they accommodate us although it was busy. The cookie on the way out is actually delicious!! 10/10

The dinner was delicious. I’d give it a 4.8 - service was top notch. Very attentive and kind. The seasonal peach burrata was delicious, melon and tomato salad fresh, grouper was my favorite - large fish and we shared it. I liked the eggplant but it was friend so did not feel as healthy or a side - very large portion so we didn’t finish. The peach and raspberry dessert was good as well. We loved the gingersnap cookies on the way out! Was expensive, but a great place to have a nice dinner or celebration.

My husband and I visited state of grace in Houston, Texas last spring and I cannot wait to dine there again someday. The elevated dining experience starts when you arrive with valet parking and coat check. When you make your entry into the restaurant it is dark and candle lit with perfect vibes. I ordered the strawberry fields cocktail to start and it was beautiful. I highly recommend ordering the shrimp cocktail. The shrimp are massive. Everything was delicious from start to finish. Upon leaving they offered us tiny home made cookies and were so friendly. State of grace has thought of everything and I recommend making reservations for your trip to Houston.

So this place never disappoints and we’ve been coming over a year and it’s one of my top 3 restaurants in Houston! My favorite thing is the attention to detail when it comes to the marriage of ingredients to make some of the most amazing tasting dishes. The chef has carefully placed a unique spin to some of the classic home cooked dishes while respecting and honoring the culture and roots of each dish. After having the cheesy grits I said the chef must be from Alabama because that first bite took me back when I ate some cheesy grits in Alabama. The ambiance is classy, southern and cozy and you are always greeted like family and on your way out a delightful ginger Whoopi pie is offered for Free!!! Who does that in Houston??? Manager George is so personable and the entire staff is awesome!!

This is quite possibly one of the best places I’ve ever dined at. I’m very particular when it comes to eating good food and everything we had here was incredible. The service was outstanding and all of the staff were very friendly. Our drinks and food came out quick despite the restaurant being packed. All of the food was hot, seasoned properly and was a good size. Steaks were cooked perfectly through and very flavorful. The peppers were also extremely good as well as the black rice and pasta. Also, the cookies at the end were so good! Will definitely be adding this place to the close top of my list. Highly recommend to anyone who enjoys quality food and service. Yes, it’s slightly pricey so if cost is a factor, maybe don’t go. Fantastic experience!

Restaurant is very lovely and service is amazing. My review is more about the food consistency. My cinnamon roll was cold and could barely taste cinnamon in it. And out of 3 orders of the CFC, 2 were over cooked with one not having most of its breading, the eggs were overcooked then covered in large cracked black pepper making it obtrusively spicy. The biscuit and gravy were on point! The dish has great potential just needs editing. We also ordered the Tuna salad which was amazing the onions really added a nice note to the sharp spice of the greens. Also the loaded potatoes were delicious as well. With that said, I will definitely join friends here again for another sitting; the cocktails were great!

Superb service. Happy hour oysters before 6pm. The bread rolls with the whipped butter was extremely delicious. As for the octopus, this is one of the best I have ever eaten. Cooked with perfection, soft and tender and full of flavor.

Personally one of my favorite brunch spots in Houston. Special shoutouts to Wednesday & Andrew for their excellent service. Things I enjoy eating. The crab cake hush puppies. The swordfish. The deviled eggs. Shoot. Everything I’ve had so far has been delicious and devoured. If you are looking for a nice, quiet but lively brunch spot with a lot of visual appeal I would definitely suggest this place.

Service is wow!!! From the waitress to the servers everyone is so attentive and nice. We started off with a peach salad, a very unique taste so it is a must try! Also the ravioli a very unique taste with corn filled and pepitas, had never had anything like that before. The fried eggplant was delicious!! Not a fan of eggplant but the crisp and sauce gave it an extra twist! I had the pork (since I don’t eat seafood) and it was very flavorful! My husband had the fish and oysters (the ones from Canada which are more salty where his favorite)! Definitely a must try if you are in Houston! Forgot to mention the dessert! The best dessert I have had in HOUSTON!!!

This place is always consistent. Happy hour oysters is a must. I often come here just for their desserts. Any of their seasonal pudding cake (if you can catch the toffee one, my god so good trying to convince them they don’t need to rotate flavors and keep this one!) and the TEXAN PECAN BALL! The flavors and execution of this dessert is top notch. The caramelized pecans, the hot fudge, the ice cream and the texture of the cake is divine. You seriously won’t regret it!!!!!!

I've been here before and thought it was great then. This night we randomly decided to show up here because my husband wanted the chicken dish. He loved it. I ordered the pansotti, which is a seasonal ravioli dish with corn and jalapeños. It was amazing. Super flavorful. I loved it. We also ordered the tagliatelle cacio e pepe, it was average. For dessert we got the peach cobbler. It was a delicious ending to our dinner. The service is wonderful here.

My first time at State of Grace was amazing!! I went without a reservation on a Thursday night and they were able to accommodate me and my friend in the Oyster Room. The Service: Dominique was AMAZING, literally just ask for him my name if you go there. I’ve eaten at many high end restaurants around the world and this was honestly some of the best service I’ve ever experienced. He was knowledgeable and all of his recommendations were wonderful. I don’t even know the name of my drink I just told him what I liked and he brought me this glass of deliciousness. He was very personable and without being overzealous checked on us all through the night. I don’t know what you’re paying this man but double it because I Only want to be served by him when I come again. The Food & Drinks: The drink was good I wish I knew what it’s called. The hush puppies were delicious and I don’t even like hush puppies 😂 the butter they came with paired perfectly. I ordered the Papperdelle which was delicious with the eggplant side. For desert I had the pecan pie which was AMAZING! I loved the crispy buttery crust. Overall I loved my experience and I will definitely come back! If for nothing else for the Dominique experience.

Came for our anniversary last night. Staff was so kind and generous. Our waitress was a cheer to be around, quick with her service and accommodating. Food was also delicious. Some of the best appetizers I’ve had in a long time. Their octopus is worth every penny. Tuna Crudo was also delicious, I could tell their French cuisine also has some Asian elements. Main course was also delicious. I had a small hiccup on a dry lamb dish but that was resolved quickly by staff. In addition, the interior of this place is gorgeous. We came at night and it was like entering a hidden nook. It was also not too loud, especially for the amount of people and size of space. Will definitely be coming back.

First date after our baby was born and it was definitely worth it. We got to take part in the Chef’s Counter experience which was a 7 course meal curated to a max group of 6 people. The food was amazing and each dish was presented to us by the chef who made it. The staff was super friendly and made the dining experience a lot of fun.

Came for an early Valentine’s Day dinner. Absolutely loved it. Excellent service, awesome drinks, and delicious bread rolls and appetizers with truly outstanding mains. The octopus, pork, and mahi were fantastic. Beautiful atmosphere and an amazing sticky toffee pudding cake for dessert. 10/10, definitely coming back for more special occasions.

In the last 3 years I’ve been going to state of grace, but for some odd reason I’ve never visit the place and I’m glad I did. The scallops were tender, the enchilada are not a full menu. Item is as a side so it’s one piece. Must try. Burger wasn’t mine but the person who ordered it finish the burger and that’s rare to see.

A fantastic upscale dining experience with exceptional atmosphere and an attentive welcoming staff. The red fish is not to be missed and highly recommended. I want to reiterate how exemplary the staff was for our visit as we entertained visitors from Germany.

This is quite a tiny little gem that has incredible food! I was able to go with a bunch of friends so we literally pretty much ordered everything on the menu. The salad was incredible and had such a full flavor. The red fish on the half shell was so tasty as well it literally melted off the half shell. We tried all the desserts and my favorite was the pecan dessert but they were all delicious! I would highly recommend going here and be willing to try it all because this place does not disappoint! 10/10 recommend this place!

My son liked bolognese pasta. It wasn't salty and the sauce was really deep. It's not in the picture, but the grilled octopus was delicious and the oysters were fresh. Don't miss pecan ice cream for dessert.

Stopped by for brunch (only on Fridays) and it was delicious. Pictured is the Hotel Nacional cocktail and crispy chicken sandwich. Both were absolutely delightful! We also ordered the shrimp cocktail as a starter and the flavors were on point and the shrimp was perfect. Our server was Kris and he was so knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. Also a big fan of the ginger cookie cream pie at the end.

My experiences at this establishment have truly been a mixed bag. Having eaten both dinner and lunch here over time, it's a tale of two cuisines. Months ago, I remember being thoroughly impressed with their dinner offerings. We decided to order our food to go, and, to our delight, everything was remarkable. The risotto was absolutely flawless, and the steak was just as commendable. What left the greatest impression, however, was their stellar customer service. Unfortunately, the lunch expeditions painted a stark contrast to the earlier pleasant experience. On two separate instances, the chicken sandwich was a major let down. The dish was not just devoid of flavor, but it was also quite challenging to chew. Perhaps they need to consider sourcing better quality chicken, as, in its current state, it's not worth the $20 price tag. Moreover, as a take-out customer, the option of returning the dish was not viable. At first, I considered the initial disappointing lunch as a one-off, but when the same issue persisted during my next visit, it became evident that the issue was linked to their overall quality. This is a plea to the management to rectify the problems within their lunch menu and achieve the same brilliance they've shown in their dinner offerings.

The oysters are really fresh and good. The waiter was knowledgeable in explaining the different taste profile of the oysters. I personally enjoyed Murder Point oyster the most. We also got a free cookie on our way out.

I am an avid restaurant goer and self proclaimed “foodie”. I went to State of Grace for the first time today for brunch. My boyfriend and I both had the chicken fried chicken with a butter biscuit and eggs. Everything was cooked and seasoned perfectly. The beignets were light and airy. AND THE HUSHPUPPIES?! My absolutely favorite. I would’ve eaten a whole plate full because they’re so delicious. Not to mention the cocktails were delicious and strong. Our waiter was very attentive and kind. The ambience is *chefs kiss*. I live in Dallas, but would definitely drive to eat here again. I’m excited to return for their lunch and dinner.

Incredible atmosphere. The ambiance is cozy and warm and welcoming. The staff are absolutely amazing. I had at least 5-6 different people come and tend to my needs throughout our meal here. We started with the wagyu tartare which was insanely tender and packed full of flavor with the accompanying aoli. The seafood tower had gigantic shrimp, a dozen raw oysters (which were beyond tender and buttery), and crab claws that were already cracked so you could just eat the tender, sweet meat off. The NY Strip was charred perfectly and incredibly juicy and tender. Packed full of flavor and one of the better steaks I’ve eaten that I can remember. Highly recommend. The Szechuan eggplant is an absolute sleeper on the menu. I could eat pounds of that side, definitely need to try. The charred broccoli was also cooked perfectly. The Smokey flavor added a depth of flavor that made me want to not stop eating it. Also had the duck for an entree. The duck came out cooked to perfection. Juicy, tender, and full of delicious flavor. Jess was our server who made some incredible recommendations and ensures our meal was top notch. Would highly recommend grabbing some food here, there isn’t a bad thing in the menu.
