I was super excited to visit the Houston Center For Photography and it was on my list of galleries to visit. After leaving a near by museum my boyfriend asked me if I wanted to stop by so we did. As soon as we walked in I said “Hello” to the two guys sitting at the desk... neither of them said a word. Didn’t greet us at all... didn’t tell us anything about the gallery... NOTHING. One of the guys looked up and went back to doing whatever he was doing. I started to proceed further into the gallery to start viewing then I turned to my boyfriend and told him that I would rather leave because that was completely rude... so we left. As an artist and someone that visits galleries and museums quite often I was very turned off by that... I’ve never been to a gallery and was completely ignored before now. VERY RUDE...

This gallery is great! It's absolutely beautiful. It's nice and quiet. Makes you really think about what these pictures of real life things and people mean.

I’ve been wanting to visit a photography museum for a bit and thought I’d give this one a try. It’s basically just one big exhibit on why white people are terrible. The photography wasn’t even good lol, at least then I could’ve stomached the wokeness. Thank God it was free, don’t waste your time.

A brilliant space, that typically has photo exhibitions occasionally has performances. It's a be space with a library on all things photographic. Funded by the National Endowment by the Arts and donations. The staff is well versed in hot and the exhibits. This should be on your list of galleri

We registered our photography loving daughter for the week long camp. They had approximately 15 kids or so with 1 instructor. The curriculum was uninspired. The kids were also crammed in a probably 15x8 foot room from 9-3 with very little outside time. Two days in not a picture was taken. One quick outing to try a camera they made out of a tin and we had enough. When the instructor was asked about the cramped conditions and lack of photography she responded, “its out of my control”. Very unhappy with what could have been a great opportunity for the kids and the studio. Seemed like an uninspired attempt at child care. At this age and price we expect more.

I really enjoyed coming to this place. It's absolutely free and showcases great work. In the back, they display work done by students. I went recently when their Ryan Bush work was up. It's cool because you can throw on some 3-D glasses and stand there for a while. Each time you look at the artwork you see something different. It's a real hidden gem in Houston. A great place for photography buffs and art lovers in general.

Gallery has a nice touch to it. It's small. And some pictures make me scratch my head. But then now I think that's what it's supposed to do. Bring out the thoughts in your mind. Hmm Everyone has a picture they like.....😂

I can not speak highly enough about this place. They are passionate about what they do. Bevin, Juliana, Caroline, and Alex are lovely people and make me happy. The exhibits are always beautifully hung and it is FREE! The staff is amazing! Classes are affordable and well taught! The printing lab is wonderful! They offer a really cool Certificate of Completion, that will take you through the basics to the more advanced aspects of photography! Their building is pretty and they are right around the corner from the Menil Collection! What's not to love?

Took the basic photography course as a refresher. Great knowledge, instructor was awesome . Downside, instructor should make it a group class to learn from others .

This is an outstanding place to visit. The gallery and library are impressive. However, for someone relatively new to a DSLR camera and photography this is the place to learn how it all comes together. I took the entry level camera class with Christy. I learned more in the first two hours with the hands on training, education and explanations than I did in the last few years of reading the manuals and watching videos. I am retired and travel extensively. I have to admit that I 'bought' into the hobby of photography. I own some expensive cameras and lenses. For the last couple of years I've used them on Auto mode as a point and shoot. In her class, Christy showed how to use all of the features of the camera and how to compose and frame the shot. I wish I had taken this course two or three years ago. It is well worth the cost of tuition. I can't wait to take another class.

It was okay. I just wasn’t interested in the photos, I wanted to see the photos @Antonio Helm saw, not mold and rust in a camera.. of course, they were beautiful pictures, I just wanted to see pictures with a backstory, history, to ascertain.. 🥲
