i believe this new location is just a temporary one since this bar is a speakeasy bar, but either way it was a great idea to try this spot. it's located in penny quarter. it was around 4pm weekday and the parking was still awful, had to park nearby and i hoped for the best my car doesnt get towed lol. we sat at the bar and got the classic cocktail menu. honestly at first i wasn't sure what to get however the bartenders there were super friendly. they explained everything and it was good to know that they knew their drinks; all of the recommendations they had were exactly what i wanted. at one point we even played never have i ever with one of the bartenders, it was quite fun lol. the atmosphere was just the kind i like, not too crowded, classy, quiet and intimate. i can def see myself attempting coming here alone or to talk with friends. they have several seating choices, the bar and the table kind and kinda distanced dark kind. upstairs has a sofa seating if i remember correctly which is good for groups and more smaller tables. we ordered half from the menu and it was enjoyable trying new ones. clover club and shiso gimlet were my favorites! spritz is good too and they were visually pleasing. all the other ones my friend got were more bitter ones. they don't have any food here aside from the pretzel and sesame seed sticks. oh and they give you candy at the end and the candies are so yummy. ill have to ask where they got it next time i go there again lol

Really nice bar, incredible cocktails with nice service. The place was cozy. The only big problem for me is, they charge 7.50 dollars tiny pretzel snack per cocktails (covid...) and they never tell you this in advance. Ending up my night with 2 cocktails and one glass of wine for 55 dollars...

Best cocktails in Houston! Wait staff is always wonderful. And I live the quiet, elegant ambiance. Edit: They've moved off of Westheimer behind Anvil. It's a fun space, but the cocktail list isn't the same and the quality and complexity of the cocktails isn't as good. Hopefully when they return to their original location in August the drinks will go back to normal.

Sexy casual. Great service but not too fast. Good people watching but come knowing due to covid you can only sit for 90 min. Very creative cocktails.

Such an awesome "Hidden" bar. So in order to get here you have to go into Pastry War and go through the suspicious wooden door in the back of the bar. You will go up some stairs and then boom, you are in the Young Cut Sparrow bar. All the cocktails are 13 dollars, and the drafts were 6.50, but it is worry it. The cocktails are absolutely amazing. The bar is small, so searing is limited, but the atmosphere is awesome. They keep the lights dim, and there is a fire place there too. The staff is very friendly and professional also.

My fiancé and I have a thing for speakeasies. And this one is truly a gem! We arrived here around 8:45pm on a Saturday night. Although there was unfortunately a wait, the host kindly took down our info and said he would send a text message when a spot for us was ready. We were able to conveniently get a drink downstairs at Pastry War, and our wait time ended up being only 30 minutes! We wondered if the home Astros game going on at this time had anything to do with our wait time being shorter?! I can imagine wait times get longer as the night gets later. Non-weekend-nights may be ideal if trying to avoid a wait. So on our way back to the "secret" door (in the back of Pastry War, only has a symbol on it) and up the dimly lit staircase we went! We got sat right at the bar, which we LOVED as we were able to interact with the mixology bartenders and watch them make the cocktails! Ambience - perfect date night spot or place to come with a friend or business partner! I don't know if I would necessarily advise coming here with more than 2 people because: 1) I would imagine the wait time would be longer 2) it is a more intimate setting (only 30 seats total!). There were only a couple tables that could accommodate more than 2 people. It felt like we were sitting in a cozy, yet sizable, classy living room. The dim lighting is on point, perfect for that speakeasy vibe. The volume on the louder side, but we didn't have any difficulties hearing each other - no shouting necessary! Service - FIVE STARS! Hot towel service to start?! Yasss! Our bartender was so friendly, positive, and dedicated to the craft of mixology. You could tell she enjoyed it and was knowledgeable. She even replaced my fiancé's original sazerac glass that became room temperature with a chilled one! My fiancé and I looked at each other and both said at the same time: now THAT's service! Cocktails - classic options all priced at $14 (you are paying for mixology + the experience honestly). Local brewery beer options for $7. Wine options (only ~3) for $14 a pour (little steep in my opinion). My fiancé and I got the French 75 and the Sazerac to start - classic deliciousness. We then shared a 3rd and final cocktail - also delish! Side note: you get complimentary, yummy little bar snack munchies. Parking: downtown street or garage parking. No lot directly connected unfortunately. Uber!

I'm not exaggerating when I say Tongue-Cut Sparrow is likely the best bar in all of Houston. Every menu they put out is full of delicious, varied options that would please your palate. Additionally, their ambiance is pristine, and the care they put into the establishment shows. Lastly, service is always great, and the staff is as good as it gets. Lastly, once you're done here, hop over to Anvil to contiue with your night in a different, yet still enjoyable vibe.

Tongue Cut Sparrow moved from downtown to Montrose behind Anvil (who are the owners of both bars). I definitely miss the charm of the former location that had exposed brick, high ceilings, and luxurious leather couches, but this is not a bad reimagining considering the service and drinks are just as excellent. Make your reservations on Resy to snag a spot where you'll be treated fabulously by everyone there.

What a great vibe and excellent drinks! I ended up getting a classic Old Fashioned but a few of the other cocktails were quite tasty. The vibe feels low key and relaxing. Almost have a modernized take on 50s decor.

One of our all-time favorite cocktail bars in Houston. My wife and I love making reservations here for special occasions. It’s more our speed than Anvil (next door); inside of TCS is gorgeous and inviting. Definitely a place of conversation and enjoying time with someone special.

Sophisticated and upscale, with a small but interesting craft cocktail menu. Make reservations.

This place is a hidden gem! Amazing drinks; the atmosphere is incredible and very intimate. Came out for some drinks with friends but will be back for a date in the very near future. If you haven't been yet, you need to make I a point to visit this establishment!

Tasty and well appointed. Service is intimate and the atmosphere is serene. Supremely classy. Reservations are recommended, or put your name in and explore the other nearby cocktail bars while you wait for a text.

This place is probably the best cocktail bar in Houston. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable, skilled, and friendly. The selection is impeccable with a wide variety of spirits on display that are then crafted into one-of-a-kind cocktails. The ambiance transports you to a 1940s New York apartment. Overall, A+ all the way around.

This is my second time at Tounge cut sparrow, and the service and drinks are impeccable!! I love the exclusivity of the bar and the somewhat secret entrance in the back. The drinks are a little pricey but crafted to perfection and worth every penny. This romantic setting is great for date nights and special events! Pictured is the eggnog and painkiller which were both on point.

A really nice swanky hidden bar with a speak easy atmosphere. The bar is stocked with some very nice Japanese whiskey. All the drinks are very well made and the service is amazing. A must try.
