On February 15, 2022, I took my mom to Memorial Herman in the medical center about 9:30 pm. She had been suffering for about a week and a half with being weak. She has a defibrillator and is 79 years old. The day before her cardiologist disconnected one of her leads on her defibrillator, saying it was not serving any purpose because it was located in the wrong place. She was exhausted! Weak, shortness of breath & fatigue. We sat in the waiting area for nearly 10 hours. This is such a shame. Why do the elderly suffer like that, at the hands of the medical profession? The elderly should be seen AS SOON AS they arrive to the ER. I don’t no what it’s gonna take for some changes to be done but they need to be changed ASAP!!!!!!!! They are at the mercies of these doctors and nurses and they know it. COME ON HERMAN DO BETTER THAN THAT. YOU HAV HIGH RANKING IN THE MEDICAL FIELD SO YOU TO LIVE UP TO YOUR REPUTATION!!!!!

My mom was supposed to get discharge to go home today, but she died yesterday due to water in her lung and that she needed suction to remove phlegm from her throat. The attending nurse for my mom shift was being lazy, I asked for assistance to help with my mom in the 5 hours I was there and witness she took her last breath when someone came in to check her vital after 4 hours long. She died immediately. Before she died, I asked for them to come help my mom. The other 2 nurses and the attending nurses said they already called respiratory team. No one cared, they were being negligent toward their patients. No one came to check to see if she was okay. My family and I were always there 24/7 to be sure she was looked after, and yes they still did not do their job. Because of their action, someone like me and my family forever lost my mother. Some of these nurses are the most uncaring people I have ever experienced. I hope no patients have to experience the griefs and trauma they put us through. Do not take your love one here.

This is one the worse hospitals I’ve been to! The way they treat the patients are deplorable! Not the nurses but the admin staff! Lady was having a miscarriage and got no attention!!! Here I am for infection and respiratory at that I know I’m gonna be here for a while. Empathy should be taken seriously in this field and it’s def not at this hospital! What’s gonna happen in the future if more hospitals act this way!

This place is a joke. The emergency room doctors and nurses are completely useless and do not care about the patients. I will definitely be filing a complaint report to corporate about this facility for lack of professionalism and assistance. I was T-Bone car accident arrived by ambulance and the moved me from the gurney. If this wasn’t an EMERGENCY we wouldn’t be coming to the EMERGENCY ROOM. Once I received a room they decided to care for a different patient and relocate me to the hallway. All I was asking for was some help and they kept making up excuses just sitting there doing nothing blowing me off. Unbelievable dismissive these people are. I HAD TO WALK OUT THE HOSPITAL WITHOUT ANY ASSISTANCE TO HAVE MY RIDE PICK ME UP WITH A SEPARATED CLAVICLE. They also sent my husband out to the car alone with a injured knee in crutches. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!!!

TERRIBLE nursing staff provides pain medicine 3hrs late after major surgery. They absolutely ignore the call button. You are just a number for doctors who DO NOT actually CARE about their patients well being. Patient care assistants DON'T ASSIST patients who need help getting to the restroom but instead tell them to relieve themselves in the bed because that is "NOT THEIR JOB". But feel free to actually sit down and watch said patients TV. Social services are just another mouth piece for a TERRIBLE hospital. DO BOT RECOMMEND. DO NOT LET YOUR FAMILY MEMBERS GO HERE IN ANY CAPACITY.

Worst hospital I have ever experienced. They left two 85 year olds sitting in the waiting room for over 6 hours. They were there for a possible stroke and sent there via ambulance as a critical situation level. They made her sit in the waiting room and wouldn’t even let her lay down and rest even with extremely dangerous high blood pressure. Other doctors we know recommended to just walk out and take her to another ER. DO NOT go there if you can avoid it at all possible costs

Great experience at MHMCH. All of my nurses (pre-cert, pre-op, OR, post-op, recovery) were really wonderful. My anesthesiologist was warm and accommodating. The facility was nice and clean. The food was really VERY good! I was shocked. It’s been many many years since I was in a hospital for anything major, so I wasn’t sure what to expect. Very happy with my stay. Excellent care takers!

Worst experience. I went to the emergency room with kidney stones. I had to have surgery. I went home after thinking everything was fine. Later found out the surgeon left a piece the guide wire inside my kidney (a retained object) inside my kidney. So then I needed another surgery to remove the object inside my kidney before it causes not just pain but permanent damage to my kidney. The first time my surgery was scheduled the hospital and surgeon canceled it because I could not pay the ($2000 to the hospital and $449 to the Dr. who left the wire in me in first place) up front in full before my surgery. I have tried several times to file a complaint with the hospital to no avail. I was finally able to find a new Dr. (By this point my deductible started over) and scheduled the surgery again. I was once again told I could not have my surgery if I did pay the hospital $3000 first, after I paid my new Dr $339. When I told them I don’t have $3000 to pay you they said I could do a payment plan for with the minimum up front being $1000. All for a surgery to remove a foreign retained object that their hospital left in me and if they hadn’t have made a never event level mistake I wouldn’t be having in the first place. Rest assured I have reported them to the joint commission and have contacted lawyers but to everyone out there do not go to memorial Herman they do care about anything but your money

Perhaps I was at their ER on a bad night. Got in before 11pm. Was taken to a room at 4 am. Audience with the doctor took place at 5:20 am for about 5 minutes. He didn’t do much and wanted me checked into the hospital. RN Claire was professional and empathetic. Unfortunately, cannot say that about RN Juno. Sad & futile experience for me. Good revenue for Memorial. At least I am alive to write this review.

My experience at memorial Herman was not so good . First the lady in the front ( Hayley ) was very rude . Over the phone and in person , I’m confused on how someone like that can be placed in front of a ER . Don’t wanna answer simple questions . Attitude cursing laughing .. not very precessional that right there made me want to leave without being seen . But I gave it the benefit of the doubt and sat in the waiting room got there at 4:35 by 7:58 I still had not seen a doctor . I took a CT scan , Did blood work and a urine sample . The doctor couldn’t come in and tell me what was wrong in 3 words . He took forever to come , while I sat & pain anxiously waiting to know what was causing pain in my body . As I heard the staff laughing loud and joking in the halls this experience was terrible for me . I hope I never have to come back to this hospital again . 8-4-2023 DO NOT COME HERE

The wait time was inexcusable, particularly considering the seriousness of my issue. I understand triage, but it seems like pain levels were irrelevant. Admissions seemed annoyed at having to do their job of registering people and answering questions. Arrived at 11am and wasn't taken to a bed until 3:30pm. I tried to be gracious as I could tell my nurse had a lot to handle, but being in that much pain and not getting much solved is difficult for even the most patient person to manage (I'm an elementary teacher - patience is part of the job title.) Finally, at 9:30pm, I was transferred to UTMB Galveston, which I am eternally grateful for because they took phenomenal care of me immediately upon arrival, working through the night to get me comfortable, medicated, and tested quickly. Memorial Hermann transferred NONE of my records, so I needed a second CAT scan and more blood work despite already having done these things. That is mind-blowingly unprofessional. If you know you're transferring a patient, transfer the records! Additionally, they misinformed the ambulance as to where to deliver me. Please work on effective communication. This is patently unacceptable. My two stars are for ER nurse Priscilla because she was incredibly helpful and kind and the CAT scan crew for their joy and expertise. Beyond that, I hope to never step foot in this hospital again.

My elderly mother was admitted on Wednesday. The nursing staff could hardly give us any answers on what was wrong. The doctor never called us until it was time to check out which took 5 DAYS. Their social services department is a joke. Never returns phone calls, neither does the 6th floor nursing staff. No answers no resolutions. They said they needed to change her medication. Guess what, they added ASPIRIN! The reason they took her here was because the ambulance said she may have had a stroke and their stroke care unit was good. But my mom did not have typical stroke symptoms. It was a waste of time and money. They are only in it to keep your elderly patients their for money. No resolutions, no real help or diagnosis. Their communication to the caregivers is NONE. Will never ever go back to this hospital. Waste of time. She got better care at her home. Disgusted with the doctor's lack of communication and care. And social services only is there so the hospital is not liable for anything after discharge. No help given.

I would not recommend getting a mammogram here. They ask you to check in 30 minutes before your appointment time then inform you they are running at least 45 minutes behind schedule. AND that's 45 minutes AFTER they check you in on insurance and then send you to the back to change. They get so backed up that social distancing becomes more difficult if not impossible and people start taking off their masks or wearing them under their chin because no one is strictly enforcing the policy. The receptionist was so completely uncaring. It was clear to me they don't care about their patient's time or health. They just care about their bottom line.

This ER should be investigated for lack of care. Wait times 8-10hrs. One guy vomiting blood over&over, fell out of wheel chair. I told staff, they did nothing. I had severe chest pain& asked, then begged my pressure get checked. I needed nitro. Begged over 30min. BP ~160/110, nitro denied. After admitted, I needed help SCREMED for help 30-45min. Station was outside my door. Despite uncontrolled b.p. & suspected TIA only saline IV given. Do NOT go here I've been asked to provide my number to further discuss this nightmare. Yet your website claims to be "Certified Comprehensive Stroke Center" (which i was sent for eval) and "Chest pain Certification " (yet I set with terrible CP, begging for BP check bc of crushing chest pain) What is your number to Compliance Helpline? Or Chief Compliance Officer.? Please provide numbers you claim compliance on your website. I want to share this unbelievable nightmare. WHY HAVE YOU NOT RESPONDED TO YOU'RE OWN NOTE LISTED BELOW? 🤔

DO NOT GO HERE. worst experience. Nurses do not care. Doctors do not care. We were there for 10 HOURS and everytime we asked what we were waiting for? they said the ER doctor. While other paitents who were had just arrived went before us. I can't believe anyone in this building is still allowed to practice medicine. If you are in an emergency or your loved one is, save the time and go somewhere else they will actually see you and help you.

If I could give 0 stars I would. The emergency room is a joke. The staff is so unprofessional and don’t ask a question cause then they become real irritated and agitated. We came in and sat in the waiting room for 6 hours and nothing still has been done, other than them putting a needle in my arm and just sit there in the waiting room. A horrible experience. They need to fire everyone and close the doors and revamp or call Dallas and figure out how their hospitals run so efficiently.

My mother was admitted to a room after I brought her to the ER, so I was fortunate enough to spend three long weeks visiting her at this hospital. I still take her today for her chemotherapy. All the nurses, techs, doctors, and other staff have been exceptional. They moved quickly to diagnose my mom and perform surgery. They treated her with respect and kindness. They are extremely patient and hardworking. I couldn’t ask for better people to take care of my mom. Getting around the hospital can be confusing at first, but I now know it like the back of my hand. I’ve had no problems with parking as the garages are free and they have plenty of spaces. The only real downside is the food they serve in the cafeteria. I’d bring a meal from home if you need one. There’s also plenty of restaurants nearby.

As someone who works in healthcare, I have had the most traumatic experience ever at this hospital. I’ve been here since 3 - I came in tachycardic HR over 114, w/ severe chest pains. It’s 8:35pm and I have not been seen by a Doc yet. They’ve done all my tests, took the RN an hour to get me a blanket. Still seated in the hallway no one has seen me yet. This couple in front of me got here after me and the patient is on a stretcher- the wife is in a panicked state because she keeps hitting the patient to wake up but he won’t. No one has even seen them yet. She thinks he’s dead. The ambulance team that brought them in is just sitting there. This is an atrocity. This experience is all types of inhumane, specifically because you can hear folk laughing super hard in the hallway at the RN station. Like for real you all? We must do better. Even if you don’t care for me, care for that old man on the stretcher. I mean WOW. Update: I ended up being sent home about an hour and a half later even though I was bleeding profusely, I was super tired and I was sent home and told to follow up with my Doc. I ended up at Houston Methodist West on Friday because I lost a lot of blood and my HGB levels went down to 7.2 and had to get a blood transfusion and ended up in emergency surgery the next morning. They said if I would’ve waited 24 hours it would’ve been fatal. Another black woman’s reproductive health not taken seriously at all by this stupid system. Memorial Hermann called me and said “the doctor did nothing wrong”. You all are ridiculous.

The ED nurse Desiree was totally terrible. Telling a patient she doesn’t make sense because of declining a cat scan that has been done before is rude or saying A patient is a bad patient for taking an o2 which is a constant 100 to use a restroom is insane. She needs to be checked. I have to RIGHT to REFUSE. The doctor and charge nurse were great 👍

I had a heart procedure on a Monday arriving at 6:00 AM. From the moment I was checked in until I left approximately 12 hours later it was an excellent experience. Every step of the way I was treated with respect and professionalism balanced with a lot of friendliness. They put me at ease in a situation that could have been extremely stressful. Brittney, Elayna, Eric, and Heather were especially helpful. I know there were others but cannot remember their names. It was a great team!

Been sitting here w my son for almost 4 hours. I’ve personally been here 4 times before. Not one time have I been treated w respect or or any modicum of dignity. The intake people sit on their phone’s text and googling. I have been shown more concern at Ben Taub. They saved my life twice. Once during the Allison flood - do not make the mistake of thinking you will receive proper care or any respect here. Just as someone left a review before me. They are here to sit on their duffs and collect a check. Pure incompetence from beginning to end. Absolutely worst ER in the city of Houston. Do yourself proper and avoid this place at all cost. If you’re Caucasian you will not be treated w any type of fairness!!!

My uncle went into this hospital for heart surgery. The surgery went well the surgeon was wonderful and fixed the problem perfectly. The communication skills were unacceptable upon his discharge. My uncle is a senior citizen and requires verbal instructions as well as the written ones. Upon being discharged in the evening he wasn't given any medication to hold him until the morning when he would be able to go to the pharmacy and pick up the prescription. Instead of sending him to a step down unit he was discharged from intensive care unit. I find this unacceptable and believe that no one should have this happen to them. So I would not recommend this hospital for anyone that you hold dear in your life.

If I could give a zero, that's what I would gave. This hospital is quick to give you heavy narcotics as soon as you give birth and expect you to still care for a an infant by yourself. During my stay I refused several times the oxy they kept pushing. But they eventually forced it on me Saturday, causing me to be extremely drowsy and ending up dropping my baby from nodding off. I had a hard labor causing me to be up for 2 days and ending in a n emergency c-section. While in the recovery unit I over heard them give 3 different high dose pain meds to another patient within 20 minutes. So now I'm forced to deal with Cps because of their negligence and from the drugs they force on you. What's sad they had several cases other then mine with the same issue. So you don't leave with rights to your child. Also never in my life have I heard of a hospital within 2 days a hospital having code pinks. So I had to worry about my baby being kidnapped like the 2 that were that weekend. I highly do not recommend coming here for your birth experience unless you want to be traumatized. I will be looking into filing a law suit against this hospital.

If I could give ZERO starts I would! We came into the emergency room because my pregnant partner was having stomach pain that she hasn’t felt before. With no empathy or grace, the staff took forever to take her in, understandably because there was quite a rush. However, what is not understandable was the staff and security deciding to make up their own rules as the day went on. They already did not allow anyone to go back with the patient, and made me wait in the waiting room, which would have been fine if not for this: First, they said they were limiting the number of visitors in the waiting room to 1 per patient due to overcrowding (note: there were still available seats in the waiting room). After an hour, when no one left because mainly every patient only had one visitor with them, they changed the rule to NO visitors! My pregnant spouse who is scared and terrified she might be having a miscarriage and losing her baby, has to now sit ALONE in the waiting room. The staff was unhelpful in providing updates, and I would not recommend my worst enemy to seek treatment at this emergency room or hospital! TERRIBLE! Let’s also not forget that there were 2, TWO physical altercations in the waiting room whilst we were there. For some odd reason, those people were taken back first.. Are we rewarding bad behavior at this hospital?! Simply all around terrible!

If I could give zero stars I would do just that. I’ve now sat inside of this hospital since 1130 am and it is now 1013pm. This hospital has called everyone after me and around me but has refused to give me aide. I was sent to the emergency room from my doctor and oncologist I’m 4 months pregnant and you would think that would be an emergency.

The staff here is very knowledgeable. The doctors, nurses, and techs all have great understanding of the care that is given to the patients. They are able to give you information about your condition in a way that is easy to understand but does not dumb you down. If you need help with anything you'll see volunteers all around ready to help. The spaces are always clean and the staff is very professional. I received great care at this hospital.

You have better luck of surviving a plane crash than the Dr I had. I was there 8 hours. Six of which I spent in the waiting room. I get it you have larger things. The people checking you in are nice the nurses run CIRCLES around the Dr. I was there due to my Lupus. I spent two hours in the back nothing had been done. I paged and ask to be discharged THEN the Dr shows up. Mocks me! Trys to do a CT of my head. (I was not there with head issues) he explains my blood work was fine I said Sir it was fine in April when my large intestine was bleeding internally. They never asked what medications I took! I told him I was allergic to narcotics then he mocked my raynauds by saying well I can give you something for your feet. I'm not here to get medications for pain I have an issue larger than that but my blood work was “fine”. They never looked in my ears eyes or mouth. They never asked what medication I took. I had to bluntly state that and what I was allergic to. They never asked family medical history, I never got discharge paperwork. I guess they don't do that. I sure will get that bill from my insurance though. I never write a bad review but that Dr should not have a license bc the Dr on the rolling computer screen did more work with the patient next door than he did. He laughs at people with an autoimmune disease. Then called me a liar when I asked for a card or information on the CT dye so I could show TSA to go home, bc the scanners. He said where did you hear that someone or the airline. I said it is on the website & I chatted with the airline online to check. He said I never heard that I'll have to look it up I guess & laughed in a rude way. (like Regina on the mean girls talking to her click) I'm asking for medical forms I have a right to, just do it. Then I said you know what, I rather croak then you run any test on me. Sir if you did your job you'd know I've had three surgeries this year due to lupus flare. My mother had a heart transplant at 36 due to lupus antibodies (her levels were normal) plus sooooo much more. HE SHOULD NOT HAVE A LICENSE. I'm only stating this terrible rude things so someone doesn't die from his negligence. Good luck if you go here!

My brother had outpatient Hernia surgery at Memorial Herman/Memorial City. Nurse Valencia was not comforting at all. She told my brother to stop hollering so loud, just moan. He was experiencing sever pain! What happen to professionals RN's asking what is your pain level on a scale of 1-10 and getting approval for more pain medication? She stated, the doctor will come and talk to you all since y'all don't think I'm doing my job. The problem was her attitude and her impatience! Later Nurse Stephanie can in with the utmost patience and compassion for my bother! We really appreciated her! However Valencia discharged him and administered his last dose of medicine. He ask should he only take a sip of water or can he have more. She replied do it however you want. There is a reason this location has a 2.8 rating. Hopefully corrections will be made!

Took my son in Monday early morning due to a fever of 103 got there at 4 and taken to a room but not seen until 6 when doctor got there. They gave him Tylenol and did some test they came back said he has COVID and instructed me on giving Tylenol and Motrin and said I was good to go.. nurse came in said she would be back in 10 mins with discharge papers about half hour later i noticed his temp spiked and asked a nurse to please get my nurse and was asked to go back into room that I couldn’t be in hall way.. another 15 mins passed and another one passed told him same thing then she came in took temp and left… another hour passed my sons temp was now higher.. she finally came back in with Tylenol and said doctor wants you to stay to observe.. at this time my blood was boiling since he had been in observation for about 4 hrs with no iv no liquids NOTHING! I asked are they gonna give him anything she said no just observation so I asked to give me discharge papers so I could take him elsewhere she came back in in 10 mins gave me medicine for him and said you are free to go. As soon as I walked out my son had a seizure and I rushed back in.. this time they did give him iv although it took them a while to get a vain because he was too dehydrated temp was at 103.5 and mouth full of fever blisters this hospital used to have such great service seems like now everyone has lost their love for their job.. no one should have to go through this let alone a 10 month old… MEMORIAL YOU NEED TO DO BETTER! people come to hospital to taken care of not to be let get in worse condition before they actually do something!

I had a fibroid removal surgery. Everything went well. The nurses, doctor, staff were all helpful and care. I stayed 2 days at the hospital and my room was good as well as the food. I had the surgery when the Covid had a peak so the hospital was full and after the surgery i waited at 2 different recovering sections, couldn't see my husband and got a room like 8 hours later. Still they took a good care of me, so I recommend the hospital and the doctors.

I was admitted here for 2 weeks. During my two weeks here, I have had constant problems with the room service / kitchen staff. They have been very rude, hung up on me several times, raised voices at me , and forgot to bring my meals or just forgot items with my meals several times. The food I get is always very cold by the time it gets to my room, and the frozen items I receive are always melted by the time I get them. I am highly disappointed in the staff and would absolutely recommend if you stay here to either bring your own food or just order food from other businesses and have it delivered. All around a terrible experience with the kitchen and room service due to incompetence and rudeness of the people. Edit: since posting this review I was contacted and visited by the kitchen manager Natasha. She has completely changed my mind and made me realize that there are some good staff there. Natasha went above and beyond to make sure my needs were met afterwards and even gave me a surprise as I discharged the next morning. Thank you Natasha for everything you do here and for taking the time listen to me.

I'm reading the reviews for the hospital, but I can tell you from my own experience that I was admitted around 5 and immediately was taken care of. In the five days that I was in ICU and afterwards when I was transferred to another room, I can tell you that I'm alive because of the care of the doctors and nurses at this facility. Thank you Memorial staff for providing great care. God bless.

Recently I had my baby, and the whole process was great! My L&D nurse Amanda was amazing!! She was really kind and helpful! She made me feel really comfortable in the process. My postpartum nurse Zahra was great, really helpful the first postpartum hours, she made sure that the baby and I were good! My OBGYN Veronica Hurtado was awesome! The delivery was fast and smooth! The rest of the staff was great! I feel very bless for the good experience that I had!

I’m posting about the wonderful service we received by our nurse William Jones in the Emergency Room. My daughter was hard stick and sure enough he was able to put and IV in the 1st try. He was patient and kind the entire night. Also the doctor on staff was quick and professional and kind. Thank you guys for being so wonderful

Despite seeing negative reviews, I had much better and quick services from the ER room, all nurses and doctors, and when transferred to a room, everyone was courteous. The level of service quality was just great. I did not face any issues.

I can't imagine anyone giving five stars to a hospital stay. Unless they had mental health problems worse than mine. Compared to other hospitals, I had a good experience. Most all of the care givers and administrative personnel were bright and cheerful. I never felt as though they resented my needs or their jobs in general. I thought that the food was pretty good. My only real complaint was the beds. Most hospital beds are awful and the nicest thing that I can say about these is that they are not the worst I have experienced.

The longest wait ever. Bought my mom in at 2:30pm and it’s now 9:11pm and we’re still waiting. When ask how much longer we were told probably another 2 more hours. I’ve never waited this long in an “emergency room.”

  • 1/5 Anna L. 2 years ago on Google
I was there for 11 hours before I was seen. A nurse discharged me without notice. I would’ve waited longer had I not asked what was going on. My CT scan & ultrasound came out abnormal, and Dr Martinez failed to mention anything to me. I had to find out on my own by requesting my medical records. His lack of empathy can cause someone their lives.

This is by far one of the worst hospital experiences of my life. My husband had a stroke and was taken to this hospital for a cat scan. He had been approved by our insurance and a rehabilitation facility and the staff at this hospital will not complete the paperwork to get him transferred. If you have a loved one going to the 6th floor, I feel sorry for your family. The 4th floor staff were wonderful. Most admin staff have continued to refer me to the nurses station and we are getting nowhere.
