Vibe- Like the name says, they use ingredients from all over Texas! There’s plenty of seating inside and outside too. There’s also a shop right next door where you can shop some local products. Very chill vibes! Customer service- Great! Food/drinks- I got a refreshing seasonal sangria, cashew queso, and a quinoa burger (didn’t like it that much but the chips were great :( ) Parking- There’s plenty in the lot. *I’ll go up to 5 stars once I find a vegan meal I like!

Great food, the lady at the counter had great recommendations and was very friendly. Nice place to eat. It is a little over priced but the quality of food was definitely high.

⚠️ Warning! Local Foods’ French fries are addictive 🍟 Their burger was juice my and cooked to perfection 👌🏻 🍔 I love the light atmosphere of this location. It’s so easy to leave feeling happy and refreshed. Will was a very friendly and helpful server on our Sunday afternoon visit.

Great fresh food, wide selection of craft beers, and a great patio! Had the avocado BLT which come with an egg. It was really good. The red potato salad was great as well. Service was fast and there is a local market store right next door. There is also plenty of parking available. This place is connected to the Owl bar, will have to come check that out next time.

I love it. Quinoa Burger!!!!! A vegetarian burger that's so good, you would slap your butt for not having one sooner😄. The chips are fresh and delicious and the ranch dill pickle and insta sauce are wonderful add on for dipping. 5 stars

This place is always dependable for a delicious and healthy meal, great service, and a fun atmosphere. They use locally-sourced produce and create delightful, seasonal dishes that even picky palates can appreciate. We come here often when we can’t decide on what to have for dinner because it never disappoints!

Wow what a great spot for sandwiches or lunch/brunch. Great quality foods with a unique twist such as the crunchy chicken I got which I recommend. The place is clean and cute. Lots of parking and the service is great. I got full from half a sandwich so it is definitely shareable.

You really can't go wrong here. I almost always get the crunch chicken sandwich, but this time we both ventured out and tried the seafood sandwich and pastrami sandwich. Both were delicious, but we said we'd each get the go-to chicken sandwich next time. Definitely recommend the house potato chips. The kale salad is another great side. I got the cucumber & seaweed salad this time and it was fine, but I don't think I'd get it again

Service was great the guy in the front was very nice and explained all my questions accordingly. I do give it 4 stars because food is not great, I do not understand what all the hype is about. They need to work on the kids menu, they had the pb and j and the bread was very difficult for my children to eat since it is not like sandwich bread. My son 4 is extremely picky and he did not like it and my 1 yr old, it was hard for her to eat even though she is a great eater (I know hard to believe) but she usually devours everything. I had the crispy chicken sandwich which was just average. And the chicken bowl which was also just average. They do have good quality but it missing some flavor.

Great dinner service. We get the Crunchy Chicken Sandwich and the Banh Mi Sandwich as a salad with a honey iced coffee. Stop by when you have a chance. If not.. you are missing out!!

the crunchy chicken sandwich is one of the best sandwiches ive ever eaten which says a lot because i love sandwiches. the crunch was perfect the chicken was well seasoned the veggies were fresh and the pretzel bun was soft but firm enough to hold the juicy sandwich. it is going to be my new obsession that leaves me bankrupt. its pretty filing and you could share with someone if you want to eat some of their other foods as well. the pozole was also delicious and super refreshing.

This is a bit off topic but definitely worth sharing! Earlier this week, on the day that it was a monsoon rainstorm, a friend and I went for a late lunch. As we entered into the restaurant, three sweet, young girls walked in ahead of us that looked a bit distraught. As it turns out, they had been in the restaurant a little bit before us with their dad. On the way out, their dad slipped and fell in the parking lot and broke his leg. Needless to say the girls were hysterical. Luckily, my friend is also a paramedic so she was able to go and talk to their father who was in extreme pain and distress. Sarah, the counter waitress immediately came to help us with the girls, and figure out the next step. She promptly got with my friend and called 911. In the meantime, Robbie, the restaurant manager came out to also help make sure that the girls were safe and felt comfortable. At the end of the day, their father was transported to the hospital, and the girls were able to be picked up by a family member. Yes, the food here is amazing and so is the service, but what’s more amazing is the humanity that was shown that day to total strangers. It is so heartwarming to know that there are still kind, compassionate people in this world. HUGE shout out to Sarah and Robbie for going above and beyond and just being all around amazing humans! Special note… The food was delicious as always!! Looking forward to going again soon!

I’ve been here a few times and ordered a few dishes each time. Everything is good, but the one thing I keep coming back to (and constantly crave) is their salmon poke bowl with their jellied egg. It’s incredible.

I had lunch there today for the third time. The first two times it was delicious and good service. Today both my husbands and my order were pretty tasteless. I had the salmon which was overcooked and the vegetables were undercooked. My husband had a hamburger which was to be medium and was very well done. They brought out his meal earlier than mine which I feel was inappropriate. Won’t go back.

Love this place for the service, atmosphere, and usually the food. This last time though, my food was great, but my husband got food poisoning that lasted 4 days. It was from the lamb pappardelle special. We know it was from that because it was literally the only food he ate that day. :( Come on, Local Foods, you can do better!!!

My taste buds were seriously damaged by this place. Their Crunchy Chicken Sandwich was fantastic. The variety of bread options is nice, and they serve generous portions. If you get your bread toasted or on a pretzel bun, the nuts and hearty romaine are a nice complement to the roasted chicken in creating a unique crunch. The food and service are consistently of the highest caliber.

Nice ambience and cute shop out in front to peruse before or after eating. Service is excellent, and food is okay. Lots of options, and I got the chicken shawarma bowl. I think the tomatoes were too vinegar-y, and the chicken was too salty.

Great selection of interesting food. We each had a sandwich with the Thai corn soup. The sandwiches were the seafood mix and the bahn mi. Both were flavorful and packed with their respective proteins.

Really cute spot in Rice Village. Service was wonderful. Every employee I encountered was so personable and kind. The cashier's reccomendations were on point! I had the truffle egg salad sandwich and winter squash n quinoa soup. Fresh ingredients and lots of flavor. The fresh house lemonade is refreshing and delicious!

I visited here on a Friday evening with some friends and got their Garden Sammie, which was delicious and filling. It wasn’t too busy which was relaxing and quiet. I greatly appreciate the variety of vegetarian options. The drinks also looked unique and interesting—will definitely have to try one next time.

Absolute Favorite lunch place!! Love love their green pozole and the garden sammie with chicken. Perfect combination! The flavors and quality of local foods is so outstanding! Also… BEST CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES I have ever tried.. fantastic! I wish however they would make them still with the pecans in them bc that truly just made them so much better. I understand allergies but maybe offer them with and without?

Okay I usually love Local foods, actually it's my favorite restaurant in Houston. I have been coming here for years, but the last few visits I have been disappointed with the quality and taste of the food. I had to write a review because this is becoming a consistent issue, so this is based only on my last few experiences here. I ordered the garden Sammie which is usually delicious but this time it was awful. I only ate half and threw away the rest. The cibatta bread is usually very crunchy with a nice center but this time I don't know what was wrong, the bread did not taste good and seemed it hadn't been cooked completely. I decided to added spicy aloi this time, but there was so much on the sandwich it was not enjoyable. As well the sandwich did not have much flavor and was over salted. I will say I did try their fries and they were really good. One other thing that I have noticed is the change in their cookies. They used to have these wonderful chocolate chip pecan cookies. They were so good I would sometimes come here just for one. They got rid of them some time back and I am not sure why. For now I will continue to come to local foods, but I hope this is not something that continues. I hate to see places that are awesome start to change to save money. I hope this is not the case with local foods.

I loved the Pastrami sandwich with soup but Local Foods took it off the menu. I didn’t know what to order. The manager decided to give me a complimentary lunch since he noticed my disappointment . I asked how the salmon was. The manager was so nice and said “I eat it four times a week and lost 15 pounds in a couple of months.” Well…. I tried it and must say I loved the grilled salmon! They served salmon with an oil spice sauce on the side, sweet sauce and broccolini with quinoa. Lunch was healthy and delicious! I’ll definitely be back and take my family! Thanks again Local!

Wow! I wish we had a local foods where I live. As first time visitors, we sat to look over the menu before going up to place our order. We asked a server for a few menu suggestions (she was very helpful). Apparently, she shared with another teamber that we were new so another server stopped by to check on us and offer suggestions. I wanted to be more adventurous in my selections, but my husband is a bit more conservative. Everything sounded so yummy! We ended up ordering their chicken bowl to split and potato salad and tried a local root beer. Yum! They also threw in a cinnamon roll. The grain bowl was our favorite of the 3 foods. If you want a place to eat that doesn't leave you feeling sluggish and guilty for all the fat and grease, come here! The store, neighboring market, and bathrooms were clean. Unfortunately, we didn't have room to take anything from the market home with us. If we are ever back in Houston, we will be visiting again.

This is such a wonderful neighborhood staple. My family used to come to Benjy's right next door multiple times a year, which is owned by the same person and I believe the chef contributed to both as well. This company is committed to offering fresh, flavorful, creative food in large portions for pretty affordable prices. The lunch/dinner entrees are between $10-$15, though sometimes dinner or seasonal specials are a bit more. I usually get two meals, or a meal and a hearty snack out of it, though YMMV. I have eaten here as an omnivore, a vegetarian and a vegan and have never been disappointed. In fact I still adore many of their vegan entrees after having gone back to an omnivore. They also have great gluten free options and are careful with allergens and dietary preferences. They also offer rotating should, sides, and entrees, which can be sad when your favorite leave for the season but it's great knowing you're getting the best produce available. During the pandemic this location has also expanded and now offers many interesting local and specially grocery products, which is very exciting. They also offer great beer and wine selections! Finally, having worked here and at other local foods locations in the past I know they treat their employees very, very well from bottom to top. They source as much as they can from the Houston area or within Texas too. You can really feel the good vibes when you walk in. TL:DR If you want some creative, delicious salads and sandwiches, great plant-based options, a hip and fun atmosphere, and the knowledge that you're truly supporting local, come here. And then come ten more times so you can try everything on the menu!!! 😁
