I am from Laredo (where TP originated) and would dine at their Houston location a couple times a month when I missed home. However, the food the last 3-4 times has been surprisingly bland and expensive. Every time we go through the drive thru they miss items or don’t put salsas, limes, and pico de Gallo (even after asking). Another big issue is that they serve whatever they want and not what you ordered. Today I ordered enchiladas suizas, my typical go to. The enchiladas were so bitter and had a weird texture that I only ate a half of my plate. I hope management take a closer look into how they can improve service. Look forward to giving them another chance and changing my review.

I recently moved here from Laredo and loved our Taco Palenques there. It makes me very happy that there’s AT LEAST ONE Taco Palenque in Houston! Do I have to drive over an hour to get here? Yes! BUT IT’S DEFINITELY WORTH IT! The staff is very friendly, the food is always great, and it brings me a sense of home. I don’t mind the drive because it’s always worth it. I hope this place stays around for many years to come. I highly recommend it!

The pirate tacos which I think is their signature item was really good. It's just sirloin strips with refried beans and cheese. They ate kinda pricey at 5.59 each. But if you go on Tuesday they are 2 for 1. I also had the quesadilla which was very good with that melted cheese and meat. I will go again

Quesadilla tacos were the bomb. I gave the service a 3, because they can be kind of slow. But fresh, hot food!

Customer service is amazing. Food hot and fresh. First time eating here but it will not be my last. Chicken flautas with corn tortillas was amazing with queso. Also street tacos plate with beans are really good. Fresh chips and salsa bar. Totally good and very reasonable price for good food.

This is our first time and the place is clean and the food is fresh and hot. Not too many smiles but everyone was busy and working hard. They where cleaning cooking and taking order and they have a play ground for the kids to play which is awesome as well. Thanks for good service and keep it up.

Seriously taco palenque is going downhill with their service not to mention all their prices have gone up and they serve less food. Doesn't make sense. Well im upset about my visit to TP , this really nice employee took my order and said it will be right out , and promise with no exxageration after about 10 cars later and about 20 minutes passed still i had no food, i then decided to call them and asked why i was still waiting for my food and no one knew why not even Alejandro the "Manager" he promised it would be taken care fast and i still waited , he offered free drink, free postre, which i refused, i take that as here shut up.! I waited about 40 minutes for my food ! Unbelievable i hope El Senor Francisco starts paying attention to his buisness because obviously his employees are not!!!

The fact that I'm willing to drive from the other side of town to stop here and eat should say it all. P.S. hey Taco Palenque. Please consider opening some more locations around Houston please!

Mcallen Taco Palenque was hot like an oven. You would think that with the mac money they make that they would have a good Air Conditioner system for the main dining area. They only have good a/c in the front part where the cashiers and counters are. Come on! Taco Palenque. Fix it. Please

Great customer service, no rush, prompt hot meal preparation, nice garnish-dressing bar with fresh chips, area clean and inviting! The refried beans a bit salty for my taste, the young female manager make her self visible making rounds, told me I could make the choice of charro beans and voilá!!...she was quick in serving me one! Guacamole fresh and tasteful. Place in general was spic and span, recomended!

These chain is the best Home-made Mexican food. We have visited their location at San Antonio and now Houston. Both location have the best customer service at the cashier. Kuddos to the nice ladies taking orders, very much appreciated!!

The food had great flavor ! Authentically seasoned. They also have a salsa bar with lots of options and the price is affordable.

Flavorful fajita tacos! the trompo tacos not so much. The evening employees are young and lack customer service skills. Horchata was pretty good too. I felt like i got my money's worth.

We love eating from here since they are the only one we know of that’s close by. They have great food!! Even thou we are usually greeted with lady’s that have poor customer service, today we were greeted by the manager George. He was a really big help nice and friendly even tho they did take a long time they actually got our order right this time.

Huge restaurant and very clean restrooms but the food is the best part. I go for the fajitas. The food is usually on point except this time it was a little under seasoned. They got my order wrong by giving me two flour tortilla tacos but they were able to replace the one corn tortilla taco that was missing.

The rice was spoiled, the fideo was old and the meat was not as good. The restrooms smell bad. Like they have a sewer problem

I absolutely love this little gem, only wish we had more of them here in Tue Houston area. I am rather enjoying their current 2 for 1 Taco Tuesday promo......getting both a sirloin and al pastor pirata taco (one can mix the protein even on the 2 for 1 special). 😋😊😋

The agua de Jamaica is the best you will ever taste. The food is always good but that water is the best.

The food is really good, I like their signature pirate tacos, meat and cheese and beans. But they are a little on the pricey side. 5.59 each. But on Tuesday it's half off

I have visited this place 4 times in the past two weeks, and things worked out great on two occasions. The food is great. The other two visits were a waste of time. According to their hours, they close at 10pm. I took my daughter on a Wednesday, and their signs were already turned off at 9:45pm. I visited yesterday at 9:50pm and their sign was on. I figured the issue on Wednesday was an isolated situation. When I arrived, there were two vehicles in front of me. The first one moved forward while the sign was still on (I don't know if they were serviced or not). At 9:54, an employee walks over to the open signs (2) and proceed to turn them off. From their vantage point, they can see the cars in the drive-thru. After 5 minutes of waiting, I drove around the car in front of me and drove up to the window itself. I was informed that they were closed. After gesturing for them to come to the window, I explained the situation, and I was informed that they didn't have any more meat. If that was true, I understand, but the least you could do is get on the intercom and inform the people that were already waiting at the drive-thru. Again, this one-star rating has nothing to do with the food. If their intent was to not prepare any food past 10pm, I suggest changing your hours to 9:45pm to give yourself time to be done cooking by the desired time.

I highly recommend the sirloin tacos. Best dive taco place I know. I wish they still had the fixin bar for the tacos but with Covid it’s gone.

The young man in drive Thur very unprofessional they had us waiting on drive Thur for over 10min with no lines nor car’s behind us no lines inside I got down and ask for my order him and a chubby lady gave me an attitude finally got my order and I had ask him for some salsas on the window, when I ask for them he told me oh you can get them urself.. We always come to this place and have never been treated like this.. Management should really train there new employees. If you dnt like your job dnt come..

I’m from Laredo. I grew up with taco palenque every other day. I enjoy coming here when I feel home sick. However the last couple times I have been given way smaller portions despite the increasing price. I miss being able to go 24/7 but I understand why it’s not open like that here. I’m sure if they did the same as the ones back home they’d be more popular. But giving smaller portions(more bland), for a more expensive price isn’t representing the taco palenque I know and love. And I’m sure that the Ochoa family would be disappointed to know how their houston restaurant is being run and would be disappointed about the bad rep this taco palenque is creating for the restaurant(bad rep being over priced small portioned blander food) when they worked so hard to open locations out of Laredo.

Stopped one day with my husband we always like to try new places, since then been going for breakfast tacos. The kids like them too so that's a plus for us! Definitely returning customers!

I’ve been coming here since they first opened up in undergrad. Even though it was pouring rain, they got my food out quick. The beef fajitas were awesome and so soft and juicy! This is my spot when I’m on this side of town. Keep up the great work!

Liked the flour tortillas and the beef fajitas but the salsas could have been a bit better in my opinion. They were too watery and did not enough flavor or spice. The pico was mostly onions with a bit of tomato and sprinkled here and there with cilantro. Folks were friendly enough and service was prompt. Bathrooms are locked but the code to enter is on your receipt so make sure you keep it handy!

Incredible dining experience! The food was inventive without being unapproachable. We really felt like we were welcomed into the family and understood the purpose behind each dish. Worth the investment.

People might think Taco Palenque is pricy but it's well worth it. The food is delicious and that's why it might be a bit pricy. That's real fajita they serve and you can taste the difference in quality. Other restaurants sell scrap as fajita but here is the real deal.
