Updated* i never knew a reltile let alone a skink makes such a amazing service animal for veterans with ptsd anxiety and especially who are prone to feel sad when alone for extended periods I purchased my first reptile a year old handsome male blue toungued skink 🦎 And i love him already the manger of the shop was soooo friendly and made feel comfortable with big guy before i took him and took the time to educate me even more even tho i did some research it was very nice to have a in person class . Plus they are veteran friendly and gave me a spectacular deal ! On this exotic rare lizard Even gave me a great deal on a tank for him to! So it was a one stop easy stop I checked all the other Animals and they all lived in clean and healty environments and where very engertic which gave me comfort that i was getting a healty animal especially bieng my first reptile . I would definitely recommend this place for any reptile you are interested loved the athomphere (when you walk in please understand that the smell is not because its dirtt its because theres a combination of certain animals and products to keep them healty in there environment) Thanks guys!!!!

It might not be the same for everyone but this is what I witnessed. So first off. Immediately when I walked in, I was hit with a horrible smell so bad that I almost puked. It was a very quick visit because I could not stand being in there it smelled so bad. While I was inside. I noticed numerous animal with dirty, poorly sized enclosures,most of them having no water and some without any light or heat. I had high hopes for this reptile shop but upon my visit I was vastly disappointed with it and will never be going back. I don't like to trash businesses but it was downright disgusting in there and I feel bad for every single animal there. Like I said this is simply my opinion of what I witnessed and not everyone may agree.

I looked for a really long time to find a specialty store in Houston, and this place disappointed me. As soon as I walked in I noticed the horrible smell of dirty cages, and quickly found the source as ALL of the cages were horrifically dirty. I talked to one associate who told me about the stores “rescues”, which honestly I feel like they’re doing no better there than they were before. Every animal was in an enclosure that was way too small, I overheard an employee say he had t given one animal water in 2 days. There was a cage that had like 4 or 5 large snakes of different species in it, and every animal seemed stressed and unhappy. I’m sorry to say that you’d honestly be better shopping at Petco than this store.

Went in to browse because my boyfriend and I are reptile keepers, the entire building smelt awful. Now I’ve been in lots of exotic reptile stores, and I understand smells are inevitable when you have rodents or mammals in the building as well as reptiles, but it smelled like death. Putting the smell aside, they had a ton of reptiles, and none of them were in good condition. All of the snakes had stuck shed, and none were being kept in appropriately sized enclosures. Again, I understand there are limitations to enclosure size when it comes to keeping reptiles in stores, but they had adult female ball pythons in enclosures I would keep my crested gecko in. An enclosure meant for arboreal reptiles. There is an enclosure that was probably 6-8 ft (which is the MINIMUM for a large species) and there were three very large species of snakes in there, and I’m pretty positive all three were different species. The only ones we could see were a Boa and a Burmese, which are a BIG no-no to keep together. The worst part of my experience was coming by the smaller ball pythons. One of the juveniles they had, who was a normal, had extremely bad mouth rot. Probably the worst I have ever seen. The tub system towards the front of the store was overcrowded, I saw probably 4 leopard geckos cohabbing in one small tub. It’s not just the reptiles either, we passed a rat and a ferret who both looked on the verge of death, if not already dead. Looked extremely dehydrated. Leaving here left an awful taste in my mouth, I have never had an experience like this. Please do not give your business to this store, there are many other exotic pet stores that do it much better in the area.

Amazing new shop with a rich variety of animals. I came in to adopt a ball python and I was very impressed by what I saw. The variety of beautiful morphs was overwhelming but the owner patiently and enthusiastically explained to me the differences. His prices were very fair. Most importantly, the owner shows a deep passion for the hobby and care for the animals. I will definitely be going back.

What a wonderful store!! The owner was very helpful and kind to my son. He let us hold several different snakes and asked questions to make sure we were getting the right kind of pet. We also happened to learn a few things about different snakes. It was a wonderful experience. I highly recommend for anyone interested in reptiles.

I first came in a couple weeks ago and the staff was super helpful and informative, they told me all about how to care for the animals and their temperaments. I came in again today and was able to get a great deal and a healthy snake. definitely would recommend they take great care of their animals.

This by far the best little exotic pet shop in Houston by far, tons of reptiles and other exotic animals that are all stunning and very HEALTHY I may add. The owner himself was very generous and passionate about the animals he has and absolutely loves showing people around and showing off his animals. I came with my girlfriend just checking out his ball pythons and within 10 minutes I was shown at least 5-10 snakes that were all gorgeous and he had morphs that I’ve never seen before, after that me and my girlfriend were just walking around the shop with 3 baby pythons in our hands for almost two hours. I cannot preach enough about much the owner loves and cares for the animals he has and can tell that he would spend hours explaining care routines and any information on the pets. THIS IS THE SHOP to get the most beautiful and VERY VERY HEALTHY reptiles. Will definitely be coming back to see the inevitable growth this store will have.

Drove a hour and half because online it showed they were open. There was no indication on his social media anywhere that they were no longer in business. I get there and there is a trash company gutting the store. When I called the owner, he was rude and acted as if this was no big deal, then proceeded to ask me what I wanted rather than helping me. Says he is running the store out of his apartment as if I'm supposed to go shopping in his home... Thanks for nothing!!

A well kept secret!!! We've been looking for a new addition to our family and we came here. It's small but they have a great selection of different pets we even meet their cute little peacock. The staff is so helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable! Helped us out and gave us the full run down on what's best for our the animals and how to care for them. And I haven't even mentioned their prices, way better than the other big stores. Found our two little guys here (red ear turtles) and they gave us an absolute steal on them and their tank! 10/10 definitely recommend!!!

Very awesome experience! Super great and helpful workers! I got my first corn snake here and they were more then happy to share their knowledge with me. My kiddo even got to feed a savannah monitor lizard! Good prices for good quality well taken care of pets. Definitely worth the hour drive!

Love this place and love the owner. They have some amazing reptiles. On top of having an amazing always updating selection of purchasable animals you also get to see some of the owners personal beauties from his collection. The owner is a great guy and you can tell he is passionate about his hobby. Great place, great environment, great people

I brought my daughter in to look at some snakes, as she’s been asking for over a year, but never been around them. Travis greeted us as we walked in and helped my daughter feel comfortable and work her way up to holding a snake. He was informative and absolutely wonderful every step of the way. Yesterday we brought home my daughters new best friend. I can’t thank them enough. The whole staff was friendly and helpful as well as the owner. You can really tell these guys love what they do and are passionate about it. I highly recommend HUA for your reptile needs!

Always loving coming here and seeing the beautiful animals! I’ve purchased 3 animals from HUA and their all super healthy and friendly! I got both my ball pythons from Jeremy and my panther chameleon from Nick. Their both super knowledgeable and friendly! If you need anything reptile related definitely go to them!

We have gotten to great bearded dragon morphs from this place. The owner gave us personal attention and was ready to provided a bunch herpetology education.

This place was so cool! If they don't have what you're looking for, they will most definitely do everything they can to find it for you. Nick is a rockstar!💯
