My mother booked here for my wedding in May which she couldn't attend because it was cancelled due to the pandemic. All other UK companies were very helpful except this one.

I was really disappointed, stuff was unfriendly because there was stressed, I ordered a beef bacon burger and I got a slice of chicken.

Thought I'd pop in for a quick pint after work. 50p charge for using a debit or credit card as it's £10 minimum spend. I didn't want 3 pints!

We had a family lunch here yesterday, and it was dreadful! Firstly, the website is really misleading in saying there is free parking, there is only on street parking, and most of it is paid parking. They took ages to take our order, then we waited 50 mins for our food, after starting questioning where it was after a 30 min wait. Finally it arrived, and my sausages were practically raw! They tried saying it was pink because they were wild boar, but the texture, not just the colour made it clear they were not cooked. I decided to just cancel my order & finish my parents' fish & chips instead. To give them their due though, they did offer me a complimentary meal of my choosing (which I declined, as I didn't want to wait any longer, as my paid parking was running out by then), and knocked a very small amount off the bill. Also, although most of the food wasn't too bad, the chips & the pie were both lovely. The staff were quite rude though, even refusing to make eye contact after we complained. They have a system where you get a free drink if you leave a good review, so I wouldn't believe any good review I read.

All staff were super friendly and helpful from start to finish, including the security guard! Rooms are kind of what you'd expect as a 2 star. However, the cleanliness wasn't great. The shower head and sink plughole were grimey, and the bedsheets and duvet had stains on. The toothbrush holder definitely hadn't been cleaned in a while, so i kept mine in my case. It wasn't grim, but it could definitely be a lot better. I expected 2 stars to be basic but cleaner. I'm just mentioning the things i noticed. I booked the attic room with a mate (which has a lovely view to the left side) but unfortunately was unbearably warm on a warm day and had an extremely small bathroom which you can barely dry yourself and get changed in. The only saving grace at night was the big loft window you could open, but it didn't do anything during the day unless you literally stuck your head out of it. I would stay again, but avoid the attic room and ask for a fan (which i was told all rooms had, but there wasn't one!). Also, the bar is decent enough, and there was a super friendly barmaid, but the glass my drink was served in was filthy. So much so that i left my drink.

Old and dirty pub, got to be the worst landlady in Sussex, totally classless, what a lady she is! They have an excuse for every critics review left her, why don’t they just admit there is room for major improvements? Old mattresses and fridge freezers along with assorted rubbish being dumped outside the pub for years, check out the photos.

The worst experience ever had on booking. First of all when I booked I clicked on a different room, with private bathroom and balcony, I don't know what happened then but I received a confirmation email with different photos, I thought maybe they were standard photos, as often happens , we arrive at 9pm at the Hotel for our anniversary and the room is tiny, with no balcony, and TWO SEPARATE SINGLE BEDS. We spoke to Becky the receptionist, as I would never ever book for a room like this for a first anniversary, and very kindly she tried to find a solution, but the other rooms were all full. So she tried to call the manager, Jen, who started talking to us in a very rude way, in the end she tells us either to leave, or to change rooms the next day promising us the famous room with balcony and bathroom in the room. Since it was already 11pm and having no time, no strength, no way to move without all this and not even having dinner, she told us that we can also stay an extra day with check out at 11am instead of 10, but we would have had to pay 78 extra pounds!?!? Tired and hungry we accepted. Next day we were supposed to move at 11am to the new room, they moved us at 3pm, new room: a hole, separate bathroom and access to the terrace only from the bathroom which was outside the room. Mosquitoes and insects everywhere in the room, TV not working, it should have been a smart TV but could not even connect to the internet because the WiFi every half hour even from the mobile asked to log in again. New complaint with the reception and we ask for a refund to leave, the refund is refused, so forced to stay in what was a nightmare we tried to be at our best or and celebrate our anniversary from 4pm on the day after... Last day... At 9.30 we were knocked on the door every ten minutes to checkout, and the man at the reception also came and spoke to us very rudely saying that he hadn't been told anything so we had to leave... Honestly the worst stay of my life, staff disorganized and rude, and obviously our first anniversary spent in the worst way

A fly in visit, one night. The staff were welcoming and very helpful. We had a room at the top of the hotel, there is very narrow steep steps to get it. The room was clean, well presented. The ceilings were low could be a nuisance if tall. Lots of plug sockets, and storage spaces. A comfortable space, I would recommend. A fair price to for a night.

Stayed here 6/7yrs ago. Dramatic change in quality for the better. From youth hostel to better than most I've stayed in, however, Check single beds and where your bathroom is if not ensuite. Clean and smart rooms, staff are great, helpful and friendly. Drinks prices are high, £6+ for a pint.

Lovely little hotel. Shared a room for 5 people and found it a little snug but overall very happy for the price we paid. Also wasn't a lift to get bags upstairs Would stay again

Lovely lovely staff! Always an exceptional roast, great selection of drinks and local breweries. Would highly recommend for a cosy night! Great view over hove lagoon and the Brighton coastline! Thank you again!

Amazing Sunday roasts - with our friends we had the chicken, beef brisket and vegetarian. All were excellent with generous portions. The staff were very welcoming and attentive. They also put on one of the best pub quizzes in Hove on a Thursday night.

Great little place right by the mariner. Good value for money. rooms are very basic, cheap and cheerful. the price you pay (£90) a night is really for the location.

Got stranded in Brighton needed a room for the night called the hotel quite late. The receptionist was so kind and accommodating. Cheap price compared to the other places. Got to the hotel the staff were so friendly and caring and making sure I was alright. I stay in a lot of hotels and haven't experienced this type of friendliness. It was something I really appreciated.

Travelled down from the midlands with my 86yeAr old father. The receptionist changed rooms round so he was on ground floor. Went above and beyond to make our stay perfect x. Definitely recommend

4 of us booked last minute as the trains were chaos and we couldn't get home. Really lovely staff, with pub underneath playing music (we didn't go in but you can't hear the music from your room even with the window open. When we went into our rooms we only had 1 towel, we mentioned it to the lady at the front desk as we were leaving to go to the beach and she said she'd get towels to our room before we returned, which she did! Shared bathrooms were nice and clean as was our bedroom, nice quiet beach nearby if you want something a little further away from busy Brighton beach. Unfortunately someone set a fire alarm off at 8am but it was handled well by the staff. It's about a 10 minute drive from Brighton Pier. I couldn't sign in to the WiFi unfortunately which wasn't great because the signal around the area in general is quite poor. Overall, we all agreed we enjoyed our last minute stay and are looking to book for the same weekend next year. Thanks! 🙂

Excellent Food! Must make a visit to The Gather Inn....especially Sunday lunchtime!

I have booked rooms here for family a few times now, and find it friendly in family run way, nice clean rooms in an excellent location. Would have thought more than 2*! When booking for my brother, sister in-law and their 2 year old toddler, was shown a very nice (ok smallish) room facing the sea. Also had a large sofa bed, so perfect for the family. That breakfast was not included, actually worked perfectly, as 2 very nice cafes across the road. Later booked for my father-in-law who usually stays in more upmarket hotels, and he would love to come back again. Beds comfortable, wi-fi good. My parents also enjoyed their stay and will return. As the Gather Inn is next to a large working port, there will be large lorries passing early in the morning, noisy seagulls, sometimes the smell of fish from the boats 200m away and the dreaded mosquitoes on odd occasions. On the upside, you have no drunken henparties passing at night, you are a few minutes from the best part of the beach, excellent public transport on the doorstep. I can understand some of the complaints regarding parking, and maybe the website should make it clearer that there are some in some residential streets, but not guaranteed. I would recommend booking directly with Gather Inn as they will advise on suitable rooms for you and if this place is right for you. And they will explain 24 hour roomservice is not available. With regards to parking, I would suggest the 'Just Park' app, as many homeowners rent out their driveway and you can prebook and it costs next to nothing. Saves driving around to find a space. And once reserved it is yours.

Stayed here for one night. Service was friendly, staff were excellent. Accomodation is very basic, not super comfortable. Had lunch, roast dinners, ok but not outstanding. No breakfast available which we felt was a shame, for the price we paid. Quite shocked at the lack of disabled toilet facilities but otherwise quite a nice place.

Great location if you want to visit Brighton during the day but want a place a little quieter later at night and you can park for free on the street. The room was clean, warm and surprisingly quiet as it faced the main road. Service was friendly and efficient.

Liked - We booked the property on short notice after our booking was cancelled at another hotel, and they managed to accommodate us with a four bedroom room with an en-suite. The shower temperature was great, the room size was decent, and there was a bar downstairs with a happy hour! Staff were all very nice, especially the night porter who let us in, he was fun. Late check-in at the weekend (11am) was also really brilliant. Disliked - The room was sold as having a sea view however, the view was actually of a water sports practice area, not the sea. There was a fractional view of the sea behind some buildings in the distance. The room temperature got really warm overnight and there was no aircon - we couldn't open the window overnight as it had no latch, and the wind would blow it wide open every time we opened it. The room also didn't have any teaspoons, or enough cups for four people. One of the beds also had stains on the sheet/duvet. For the price we paid for one night I would have expected better.

Currently staying here for a week, was going to wait to review but felt the need to now or I'll forget.... Pros- Food is great, decent sized portions (I'm 6ft3 and built like an Orca) recommend the Cajun Cod and Sweet potato fries. Staying in the triple, good size room, clean and quiet as one would expect an inn on the seafront to be. Fantastic view of the lagoon and sea. Cons - Room is like the Sahara. Heating not on ( save you a few quid gather inn 😂 ) Please note that I'm 6ft3 and built like a shed, which may contribute to the heat.

Didn't mind that the room wasn't serviced daily but just meant we had very dirty cups to have a cup of tea or coffee. Lovely friendly staff and overall a good place to stay

Absolutely perfect for the stay that we needed and a little bit more than we needed. Not in the center of Brighton but that didn't matter to us as a taxi was only a 10-15min journey but you can also get good food and alcohol at the The Gather Inn - what more do you need? Add into the mix very welcoming and friendly staff, we will definitely going back if we ever have a night out in Brighton again!

Stayed for 2 nights great little rooms, I had room 8 which had everything I needed apart from maby a small fridge. But the lady at the desk was nice and had a wicked jack daniels t shirt and was so friendly. I was expecting more noise from people but I only really heard traffic which was no problem. Close to the beach for great walks. Would defiantly recommend to others for a short stay.

Reasonable prices for the area and a nice quiet location. Only downsides oddly enough is perhaps the water in the shower was too hot! Very friendly staff and spotlessly clean. Beds were slightly on the soft side.

A warm welcome awaits you at this excellently located establishment, with comfortable, modern and well decorated rooms, a well stocked bar and a delectable dine in menu all topped off with wonderful, professional and well mannered staff who are more than willing to help with all aspects of your stay and guidance on local attractions. I initially stayed here over a year ago and although I've only ever stayed for work in the area on numerous visits, I would eagerly book myself in here for a longer leisurely stay in future.

A mix of good and bad (mostly good) Lovely location and staff were friendly. Room was at the top of the hotel in a very well presented bedroom. Very clean and tidy We find the website stating free on street parking irritating and very misleading. When you’ve driven a long way to get there to discover that it’s just luck of the draw if you can get parked. Do not come here expecting you will get parked for free with allocated parking. Check before you come as it’s metered at certain times and I do feel this is a bit naughty stating it as they do as it makes you expect there is ample parking nearby which is free The room itself was absolutely stifling hot (it was a hot weekend) but even with the velux window open all night, it was too hot to sleep well. The kitchen was also closed when we were there. Not sure why but there were notices up which I wasn’t particularly good for people staying. We went and ate in town instead.

Property is in a great location. Pretty close to beach. We got a sea view room which was breathtaking. Staff Olivia was extremely friendly and very helpful. She was pretty informative and suggested us some great locations to visit. We had a memorable stay and will definitely visit again.

We had a great time in the inn. The room was exactly what we needed, simple, clean and a very comfortable double bed. The location is good. A nice view of the seaside, with bus stops dotted very nearby to make getting to Brighton easy. About a 20 - 30 minute journey. The staff were fantastic. Very friendly and welcoming, helping us in any way we needed. The inn also has a good bar and a great outside sitting area with warm heaters to use in the evening or when it's cold. Highly recommend. Great value for money.

Attended a private function in the downstairs bar. Lovely pub which was clean and well decorated. Lots of space and reasonably priced. Staff lovely and food for the private function was very good. Allergies are catered for. All of this and a sea view and opposite Hove Lagoon. We will definitely be back.

We had a wonderful Christmas lunch yesterday at The Gather Inn . The Turkey was melt in the mouth and the Christmas pudding was absolutely delicious. We had the pleasure of being served by the delightful Becky that kept us very entertained by her unusual and interesting facts. Fantastic experience will definitely be returning.

Lovely and welcoming staff! Cute decorated room, but the bathroom does need a make over. Its also pretty noisy during the evening/night, with the pub underneath and pretty thin walls. Great price, short drive to the main beach and attractions, no free parking at the hotel but reasonably priced pay&display.

A beautiful room with a view and lovely simple restaurant downstairs for food close-by. Unfortunately first evening I was disappointed as I was getting into bed - Very very rarely do I check beds right after checking in, so was really tired and not impressed at all to flip the duvet to find hair and stains on the sheets and cover. This is even more cringey and awful to discover when it we are still amidst COVID cleanliness times. Despite being 11pm and on her own the lady managing both the hotel guests and restaurant that evening made sure she found me fresh duvet and sheets, which I’m grateful for - Thank you! However, should not have happened in the first place hence my low rating. Had it not been the sheets, I would have given 4-5 stars. Rest of the stay was fine, I enjoyed the view, the food and drinks from the bar/restaurant, as well as the beautiful sunset not far from the hotel!

Disappointed. I'd chosen here through Booking.com with the criteria of breakfast and parking. There was no breakfast available and was on street parking with a 4 hour limit.

Truth is, we were racing around Hove trying to find somewhere for a roast one Sunday afternoon. When all our favourites were full, we decided to take the plunge and go for a Google review of less than 4*. Then we got a lovely surprise and ended-up scratching our heads wondering at how anyone would score this place less than 5*! The location is spot on. (Just the right side of the lines for free parking). 'Almost' sea views. Not far from the beach. Most importantly, the roasts were spot on. Veg done to perfection. All wrapped up in good service and the warmest of any hospitable welcomes we've received in any B&H pub. Hard to fault.

We really enjoyed our stay with the gather inn, they where very informative on arrival and helped up with any questions that we had on check in, staff where lovely and accommodating for our specific needs. The room was lovely and clean with a beautiful view of the lagoon and Brighton(we stayed on the top floor). they stated there was a new kitchen team and that the food would be incredible, and what can I say, it was to die for! Really recommend! Great portions! Great taste! Great value! We also stayed during their happy hour and made the most out of their 2 for £12 cocktail deal! Me and my husband will definitely be returning to this beautiful place xxx
