Was a regular here all through the pandemic. It was an oasis with a large outdoor area where unvaccinated could dine in peace without question. Went up last week sat in my usual spot outdoors, and was asked for my covid pass! This is not allowed as the area is outdoors and Government guidelines have not changed, you can dine outdoors without being harassed to provide proof of vaccination. I'll be reporting this premises for being in direct contravention of Government guidelines.

The staff are very friendly and attentive. Food is mediocre. Had the scampi and chips. Was under the impression that this would be ‘homemade’ but was pre-packed frozen scampi, that was just deep fried. Similar to what you buy in a supermarket. Chips were the same. Maybe other dishes are better, not sure. Location is good.

Shocking really, worst food I've ever had in a pub/restaurant. Burnt chips, burned nachos, tasteless soup, mash that was almost solid. They were very busy but that's no excuse, I find it hard to believe the food was cooked by a chef of any kind more likely a kitchen porter that inherited the position. Simply not good enough, great location but they should be ashamed of the food they allow to be served, table was also sticky. I don't usually review food at all but this stuff was on another level of horror and I need to warn you all. The people leaving 5 star food reviews here either know nothing about food standards or need their heads examined.

Very popular spot located on Howth Head Summit. Lovely place for a bit of food. They have a wide variety of dishes on the menu and cater for all dietary requirements. I got the B.L.T with fries but I believe the sea food is good here. It was a busy lunch time when I visited but managed to get a good seat and table service was very quick. Would highly recommend to anyone planing a day in Howth and would definitely go back again to try that sea food.

I've been coming here periodically over the past few years, whenever I'm in the area doing the touristy Howth walk thing, visiting friends that live in Sutton etc. Located in the beautiful leafy suburb of Sutton in North County Dublin, The Summit is always very busy and always very consistent. It's a pet friendly pub too so your little (or big) fur baby will be very welcome. They serve the best creamy mussels cooked beautifully to perfection! I have never ordered anything else so can't comment on any of the other food. They have a wide range of alcohol and non alcoholic drinks, to suit everyone. Not too far from public transport either and there is limited parking on site for any one not drinking. The staff are really friendly too. I'm not really a pub person, but I always have a good time when I come here.😊

I love this pub. On a sunny day, or at weekends, it's often really busy, lending it a lively atmosphere. I much prefer it in the week, when it's quieter and feels relaxed. It's a cosy spot for a drink, and I think the food is really tasty and satisfying. The staff are always really friendly, too.

Horrible dirty place. The only thing worse than their bland food is their awful staff. Never have I witnessed such rude and incompetent staff. No attention was paid when we entered the establishment. There were 5 tables and 4 staff members and still nobody paid attention to us once without attracting their attention first. Had to walk inside to gain the staffs attention 3 times before our mains were even served. Server left midway through taking our order and just never came back. Cutlery was hairy, stick and dusty. DISGUSTING! The soup was bland and watery. Had to ask for clean glasses 3 times and each time we were given dirty glasses. Had to leave before our mains were even served we were so disgusted. Overall horrible experience. I know this is an attractive spot for tourists but DO NOT COME HERE!

This place was awesome! I had the Mushroom soup,. It looked like muddy sandpaper but the flavor was out of this world good!! Staff was cool, a local hang out,so i didn't see anyone that looked like a tourist, but is was middle of the week. The portions are big, so if you are hungry, your in luck!

One time at this pub a seagul tried to eat my lunch when I was sitting outside. Another time my menu blew away. To combat this the owners have wisely installed a great outdoor eating area which is cosy and free from both seagulls and Gusts of wind. In addition to this the food is nice and not over priced. I love going hear after a walk or when out for a cycle . Nice ambiance. Not fussy or fancy just a nice spot for lunch or a pint.

Great place for lunch after a walk around cliffs. Food is fresh & well-made. Menu is big enough with decent vegetarian options too. Service is quick enough. Lots of seating available but does get filled quickly. Recommended !

Sorry to say, we were waiting for almost half an hour and… nothing happened. I understand on Sundays It’s really crowded, but a lot of people came later and got their meals and beer. Waiters should be more aware who’s still waiting… Definitely we won’t visit this place again. But still Howth is an amazing place!

Had some English friends over, and took them up to the bar. They loved it, loved how it was so cosy and Irish inside. (I hadn't seen how the front was done up, absolutely love it.) We just had some nibbles and a few Guinness. But the bar wasn't too noisy, so we could sit and chat happily. A lovely experience all together 😃

Came here after our 3 hours hike up the summit! Service was very slow, we waited 15 minutes and had to ask for a server to take our order! The fish and chips were a amazing, super fresh and the chips so yummy. The burger in the other end was so tough, I couldn't chew through it... 😵 the chowder was a must have, and the beer... yummmmm

Chicken wing ok, very spicy though. Mussels are ok. Service not so good. They don't mention the price in the menu. If you ask how much a beer costs, they told us it was about 6 - 7 euro. When paying it's 8,5 euro for the beer. When you tell them that you asked for the price and they just shrug... 'ok'. Toilets are disgusting.

Went to lunch and ordered Chowder and club Sandwich. Chowder was like milk with small squares of veg and few lumps of fish mostly salmon and was really disappointing. Have had Chowder in lots of places all over Ireland and this one didnt make the grade lacking flavour and texture. Pre chopped bought in small pieces of veg certainly not looking like in house. Prepared. Club sandwich was boringly tasteless and chips were not much better. Sadly wont be returning and at 38€ including 2 bottles of cider not good value for below par food.

The pros It’s a nice looking pub It’s a great location The outdoor area they built for covid is great. Nice pint The cons The food is overpriced and is mediocre to bad. I’ve eaten here several times and it’s hit and miss. It’s inconsistent and there does not seem to be good quality control. Just finishing up my last meal here. I’ve decided to stop coming back. There are plenty of good restaurants in the village. I’ll still drop in for a pint but won’t eat here again until they get a decent chef and/or cook.

Food was actually very tasty, nice fish and chips, and scampi, beer batter was great and crispy. Chips slightly undercooked. Service excellent, friendly and helpful. Place isn't the most beautiful, but location is good . Seconds away from Howth Cliff walk.

Food was great and the place is decent. Very nice location if you want to enjoy a pint after a hike. I just felt that this restaurant was a bit understaffed. There were so many customers and so few servers. We had to wait for long to give the order.

I am sorry for every sould who came to believe that those fries and 'special' chicken wings resemble good food in any shape of form. I was not expecting much, it's a pub in a touristic location, but the outcome was worse than I could imagine. The place was full of locals, people nicely dressed for facing those outragingly undercooked fries. The wings are covered in a cheap, sticky gelly that could be anything but barbecue. I would be better off coming home hungry.

It's a nice cozy place (we did not took a room, only food&drinks). My experience was pleasant with a welcoming staff and great service. I went there mid-day and the place was not crowded. The food was fine in my opinion. The beverage prices are not listed, but are mostly the same as in other places (about 7€ a beer and 3€ a tea for our order)

Lovely, old-school type of pub/restaurant with great service by lovely staff. Great location very close to the Summit car park and perfect for a feed and a pint after you've completed your days walking adventures. Howth bus stop is right across the street too.

Went here for lunch after a walk along the cliffs. We had a table next to the fireplace where we could warm up and relax with delicious comfort food.

I was there as a customer and an employee and in both ways it was really nice. The Service and food Always good especially the fresh fish and Chowder. Even If i asked for a Reservation for 17 People in short time, it was No Problem. Location is reachable with the Bus and after the cliffwall. Prices are good as Well. As an employee i experienced a verry nice Team, Like a Family and everyone was supporting each other. Everyone knew what they had to do and If Something went wrong, No one was Mad and WE fixes jr together. I was more than Welcome in the Team and i would Always do it again! Thank you verry much😊

I'm sorry to say this experience was underwhelming. The service was understaffed and inattentive. We had to wait forever to order and eventually had to seek out our server to order dinner. To be fair, she was friendly, but lacked training. Our meals were severely disappointing. My husband had a vegetarian burger that was mediocre. I had the BLT. The best part of my meal was the mayonnaise. The folks around us appeared to be locals and were having a great time, so I imagine the neighbours knows what menu items are better than what we ordered. The biggest aspect this pub has going for it is it is in a prime location after going on one of the gorgeous hikes. If they chose to improve their service, and quality of food, it could be a very special place. But at present, they are getting by on their location (and drinks) rather than food.

Great atmosphere, with a view of bay. The food is delicious the staff is lovely. Ordered the fish and chips, 10/10 And scampi , 10/10 Easy to get to, plenty of parking and busses from city center are just across the street.

This is just a great pub in a brilliant location as the name suggests at the summit behind Howth & where the local buses stop if you don't fancy walking up on one of the graded walking routes. The pub has a large interior & outside area set out for eating & drinking. We called in on a Sunday & it was very busy on a surprisingly sunny day. Food on this occasion was not tried but the Guinness was truly superb.

We visited the restaurant for Sunday lunch and had a good sunny day with outdoor seating. Friendly staff and the atmosphere was simple but pleasant. The food was good with decent prices and generous portions. It was definitely a satisfying dining experience. Recommended for a relaxed and friendly atmosphere post hiking.

Stopped in after completing the cliff walk on Saturday afternoon. Nice place however service was basically non existent. My brother ordered cocktail sausages and chips and they never arrived. (We waited for over 40mins) We didn't pay in advance at least so we just left.

Disaster from start to finish . Staff were lovely. Orders taken wrong food to slow and not the right food was brought out. Stunning few outside to be fair. Not for me and I won't be back and I'm from Dublin.

I had a quickly pit stop to Howt before heading to the Airport. (It was 3 days trip so I was with a backpack) Howt is a very nice panoramic place, perfect to have a nice walk and enjoy the view also. About the Pub: also very nice, friendly and good food. I enjoyed the fish soup (clam chowder) & classic fish and chips served with a fresh Guinness.

İt's a lovely spot to stop after a cliff walk. We ordered two types of signature chicken wings and scampi & chips, all of them were great, I especially loved scampis.

Quality of food was fantastic and even though the place was very busy with most tables full the staff were great with their service. Then the views from the summit are amazing given you amazing far views of the Irish coast you wont get anywhere else. Highly recommended

Good covid measures. Tables were well spaced out. Felt very comfortable here. Service was a little slow but that was because staff were being extra careful. Witnessed lots of hand sanitising and sterilising of tables and chairs.
