Beautiful elevated location nearby the lighthouse. Beautiful restored Japanese style old building and the best Taiwanese style food. Very delicious, high quality food. Cannot recommend more!

Loved this place! Prepared really quickly, very homely meal. Their chilis are a must try, though with a kick (available for sale too). English menu is provided if needed. 10/10 recommend!

Friendly auntie running the store, pretty affordable about 220ntd per person for a full meal! Pig trotters meal is really good, it was tender and soft and the taste was great :). Loved the almond jelly and they had lemongrass sausage as well

This evening, I had the Winter Special set meal. For 258NTD, there was pork rib soup, minced plum pork with fried egg, and 2 vege side dishes. The meal served was very balanced, hearty, not salty and really tasted like a mother's cooking. I added a pork sausage which was cooked with Chinese wine. Delicious. It's a refreshing change after all of the touristy food. Other set meals would have meat, rice with egg, sides and soup. They have 3 types of chillies - Garlic, fried white bait fish (aka Ikan Billies for the SEA visitors) and Thai seafood chilli. Please not that the restaurant is a short walk from the Police Station. Keep walking till you see the restaurant signage. It's worth the journey and getting a little lost sometimes.😂

Unpretentious, simple canteen, but with possibly the best food I ate in Hualien, and I spent 5 days eating in many places. The menu is small, but every dish is done to perfection. I had the smoked pork belly with fried rice. It comes with several side dishes and it was glorious. I also had the flying fish roe sausage, perfection is my rating of it. The braised pork knuckle with rice also looked great, but I was full. Note that you need reservations, because the seating space is limited. A must try while visiting Hualien.

Super delicious and exceptionally friendly staff. Very welcoming to English speakers. Very fresh teshoku style pork meals. Almond jelly was a refreshing end. If you have to wait for a seat, it’s definitely worth it!
