This isn’t the largest green space in a major city but, nevertheless, it’s really important for its inhabitants and visitors alike. Loved seeing locals exercising in the mornings and evenings; also loved the pond with the beautiful lotus flowers. The weekend was a revelation to us, with the ‘Marriage Market’; where parents seek a partner for their offspring! Adverts are either posted on boards by professional matchmakers or are simply attached to umbrellas to attract attention. In terms of content, the adverts here are the inverse of a Tinder profile; pictures and names are scarce, but salary and home ownership status are stated outright. That juxtaposition reflects traditional Chinese conceptions of marriage, in which weddings aren’t the culmination of a romantic courtship, but instead mark the beginning of an economic partnership whose main goal is producing children and sustaining a household. Fascinating - come rain or shine, every Saturday & Sunday between noon and 5pm. Great for people watching, but please don’t take pictures of the adverts themselves as that’s disrespectful.

this park is centered in the heart of shanghai and is easily reached by many metro lines. In the spring time, you can discover many plants blossoming and blooming while exploring the beautiful flora it serves. On a sunny day you’ll catch many people picknicking or basking in the beautiful shanghai sun. As you submerge yourself into this landscape you are surrounded by many locals enjoying their day. It is a great opportunity to escape from the busy roads or the packed metro. Personally, one of my favorite places to be in shanghai. You could spend an entire afternoon there without getting bored. Plus, you won’t end up starving since there are many family marts or even restaurants close by.

The People's Park is also known as the Renmin Park, with a total area of 98,200 square meters (24.3 acres). It runs from Middle Xizang Road in the east to North Huangpi Road in the west, and extends from West Nanjing Road in the north to People's Square in the south. The park has eight gates; the main gate is located at no. 231 on the West Nanjing Road. The park can be divided into three areas: the east area, the middle area and the west area. The major attraction in the east area is the Memorial to the May Thirtieth Movement. The Antarctic Stone, the Shanghai Museum of Contemporary Art, a teahouse, an outdoor theater, and a dance hall can be found in the vast middle area. Additionally, tourists can have a rest, play chess, or have a picnic on the stone tables and stone stools in the jungle of the middle area. Compared with the east and middle areas, the west part has a lot of landscape architecture, including pavilions, corridors, artificial hills, pools and pergolas.

A famous place where matchmaking occurs. Parents come out here with umbrella with profile of their children hanging and try to find the life partner for their children. There are whole bunch of umbrellas, and profiles are all in Chinese, so it would be an even more interesting experience if you can read them. Other than looking at the profiles, you can't really call this a park.

This garden is really well kept with the flower displays and hedges all in pristine condition. Like everywhere else there’s zero litter and plenty of benches give every opportunity to use it as a space to relax. It’s a large space with plenty of quieter sections too so if you’re looking for a central place without the crowds then consider escaping here. It’s easy to forget you’re in the middle of such a vast city but the towering skyscrapers surrounding serve as an impressive reminder. I really liked the park and would suggest adding it to any itinerary, even if only briefly.

It’s Shanghai’s answer to NYC’s Central Park😎😎😎. It’s at the heart of the bustling mega-city. Strolling or just sitting on a corner of it is surprisingly blocked off the traffic noise. The green environment is very calming. The many benches just allows one to rest one’s weary legs from all the walking, and “sponge in” the coolish breeze to expel one’s sweat soaked shirt from the humidity.

This is a beautiful and lively park. Arrive early in the morning to stroll in peace while the locals exercise and play cards. It is also a great place to begin your Shanghai touring with two excellent museums. The urban planning museum is focused on Shanghai’s past and future while of the china museum is focused on Chinese history. The museums open at 9 AM which is another reason to come to the park in the morning and go to the museums ahead of the crowds. The parks central location sets you up for a nice walking tour in any direction but if you’re not up for walking many bus tours leave from this area. It is also situated on top of a large metro station.

People's Square or People's Park in Shanghai. Nanjing Road. The Shanghai Art Museum and The Shanghai Grand Theater are located at people's park. Designed with manicured grassland and flowers. This multi-faceted park are surrounded by structurally designed old and new buildings.

One of the most famous park in Chengdu that the locals (and a lot of tourists) to chill, drink tea, and eat snacks. It is quite easy to get to as it is right besides People's Park station. It is a place to chill out for a couple of hours if you want to relax and enjoy the "old" chengdu lifestyle. However, I recommend skipping it if drinking tea, eating snacks, and chilling with hundreds of people is not your thing 😅 (I was there for 30 mins...)

What a nice park to walk around and getting fresh air. I don't know if that is because it was weekend or maybe it was too early, but no cafe inside the park was open today. It was very nice and well maintained park. We tried to visit one place which was sure if that were a cafe or restaurant but the staff was not very nice when he answered to us if cafe opened or not. Other then that, in general, don't miss visiting the park if you have some spare time

great place to go for an amazing view, underneaththe park, there is an underground mall for people who love anime, lolita, ancient chinese fashion and lots more cute and fun stuff to buy and look at. the mall can be entered through the subway and although the first few stores maybe up for renovation, the best part of the mall is deep within the park itself!

Among all of the parks in Shanghai, this is definitely one of them. There are so many vastly different sections it is like being in 20 different parks as you walk through and around it. Everyone raves about the flowers - and for good reason. But the grass and ground for picnickers is spectacular, particularly considering the concrete jungle surrounding it. The history of this area is amazing, and the racetrack outline is still vaguely visible on a map in the park layout on the north and Wu Sheng Rd. to the south. Accessing the historic club building of the Shanghai Race Club and its magnificent view of the area is challenging but worth it. .

Definitely a pretty park, but ultimately I found it kinda uninspiring. Everything is very obviously man made with little to none of the wild aspects that Ive found to be so beautiful in most other parks in cities across China. I walked around for about 5-10 minutes and then I got bored.

(Translated by Google) Cozy, livelier and closer to the people than the "Volksplatz" on the other side of the government building. There are numerous walkers here and especially on Sundays, the marriage market for single-child parents, which is now also being discussed in the media and is looking for women who want to marry for their male offspring with considerable bids. H. What happened to the female babies (and any second children) at the time is, of course, neither here nor anywhere else in the country, e.g. on Youtube, themed.

(Translated by Google) It is one of the representative parks in Shanghai. I think it is the largest park in central Shanghai. In the first place there is little green in the center, so it is a valuable green space. Inside, there is a pond, a simple amusement park, and many people on weekdays and weekends. A special event here is the matchmaking event. This is an event in which parents search for their child's lover. Advertisement is put on an umbrella with a piece of paper describing the child's information (education, height, age, annual income, etc.). Please take a look once because it has been featured worldwide!

A funny place where you can find a lot of strange things. Look out for the older people who are sitting around the park with the umbrellas. They looking for someone to couple up their unmarried children. You can relax around the park, but try to avoid mid day because the sun burns like fire! Enjoy it

Beautiful people populated open oasis of green and museums in the center of Shanghai. Come for a walk or to sit or to visit the nearby museum. On Sundays...you will find a colorful, unusual, bustling marriage market! People's Square (aka People's Park) is alive with people who have colorful umbrellas festooned with photos and biographical info on their sons and daughters in hopes of finding them the perfect match! I've travelled around the globe and have never seen anything like it. Be mindful that not all want their pix taken so be respectful and enjoy!
