I have had some fun nights here over the years, but after a recent experience involving harassment and assault by a male dancer, I won’t return. I reported the issue to the organizer that night but unfortunately he refused to intervene, even after multiple complaints. There are better places to dance in Ottawa these days where women’s safety is prioritized.

Rahims is a safe place to come and dance where you can come as you are with no judgment! I have been coming here for over 2 years and its becoming one of my favourite places! No need to be a pro or put on an act! Rahim has become a great friend too!

Rahim has no measures in place to ensure safety at his events, and has demonstrated that he is not a safe person to report incidents to. Rahim has no anti-harassment policy in place. Be careful at this event as the organizer does not handle harassment or assault reports appropriately. I would not recommend this event.

Rahim's is the longest running Latin dance social in Ottawa-Gatineau area. Many dancers (including me) and DJs in the area have started their journey at Rahim's and many Latin dance schools/instructors have been promoted at his socials during the last 15 years. A good mix of beginner and advanced dancers participate in this social and there is always a beginner-friendly workshop before the social. So, if you want to give the Latin dance a try, make sure to check out Rahim's.

I attended the Bachata workshop and social afterwards for the first time last night and had a great experience. The atmosphere was friendly, professional, and supportive. It didn't matter that I never took dancing lessons before, nor attended alone, without a dancing partner, and I did not feel uncomfortable or unsafe once. There is a great sense of community of people of different ages and dance experiences enjoying dancing and learning from each other. In these times when more and more people feel isolated and disconnected from others, Rahim's Friday Salsa Dancing creates a sense of dancing community that is welcoming and supportive. Thank you, Rahim! I am excited to attend the following events.

I started learning how to dance going to Rahim's Salsa Fridays over a year ago. I have never had safety issues at any of his events, and always have a great time when I go. It is too bad that some people are trying to tarnish his reputation because of one incident. It is to be expected that there will be people at socials who may have different intentions than to just dance. You can experience this at a bar, at a club at any place that is social in nature. But I know for a fact that if I ever felt unsafe at one of Rahim's event that he would listen to my concerns and address them appropriately. Rahim has been running these events successfully for the last 15 years, and I do not doubt his professionalism and ability to address uncomfortable situations. If you want a great night of dancing in a beautiful venue, go to Rahim's!

Rahim has been providing us with a great night of salsa and bachata dancing for the last 15 years (among other events he has organized) He is a great host and has been taking care of his guests with the utmost respect. I highly recommend his events

Rahim Salsa is one of Ottawa's top Friday night recreation destinations whether you come alone or with friends. Start your night with an engaging and infectious Latin Dance Workshop (Salsa, Bachata, Cha Cha and Kizomba etc.) by some of Ottawa's finest Latin Dance Instructors at 7:45 pm. Be prepared to meet new and friendly people in the class. You can ask your classmates for some dances later in the night. And at the stroke of 9 pm, the dance floor opens and the lights dim. You will revel in the skill of Ottawa's finest Latin Dancers. It will pleasantly surprise you how approachable everyone is to ask for a dance. All in all, Rahim Salsa Friday makes for a consistently memorable and magical night in the heart of our fair city. There's nothing really like it on a Friday night. I’ve been attending Rahim’s Salsa Fridays for over four years and it has become one of my favourite spots for salsa and bachata It’s a wonderful place to dance and enjoy the evening. Great music and great people!

Rahim provides great salsa courses. We enjoy great nights there. He is a perfect organizer.
