Quite possibly the most "entertaining" jail-turned-museum I visited within 300km radius! Our tour guide did an amazing job presenting its history along with any anecdotes or fun facts. Great sense of humour whenever the opportunities. Better yet, we visitors are strongly encouraged to pose for pictures! Some rooms even have props readily available just for us to help us get a little more creative! Yes, there are plenty serious lessons to be learned from this particular place much like any other jail-museums, yet the staff found a surprising balance in the tour between educational and fun to experience. More jail-museums around should try to be more like this one!

We got a free family pass from SDG library and we checked out the jail as a family. My husband and I found it very interesting. We enjoyed ourselves. Thank you!

Took my family here, small group on a Sunday. Lots of historically interesting stories and tidbits. You have to see for yourself. Eerie at times. If you love local stories about taking someone to court by being slapped by a fish, or the Finnians escaping jail...to criminals hanged for a variety of gruesome crimes- this was interesting in a human-interest way.

Fascinating little piece of history! Hard to believe the jail ran from the 19th century right up to 2002! The young tour guide (with a background in history) was very energetic and engaging. Definitely worth a visit!
