Bar Lupulus is by far one of the best restaurants in Ottawa. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and very friendly, and the food is AMAZING. They definitely serve the best charcuterie in the area. The chef is a master with sauces and pickles and the selections are wonderful (mmm duck!). Even the sourdough crackers are better than any other crackers I’ve ever had! Everything is fresh and delicious and every dish is super well thought out. The menu changes often, so there is always something new to try and everything (including all the pasta and bread) is made in house! The beer list is the best in town (so many awesome sours!) and the cocktails are delicious and creative. This is also the place for you if you’re into funky wines. The atmosphere is lovely - lighting, music and all. Can’t wait for the stunning patio to reopen! Definitely highly recommend.

The service was attentive and detailed. They were able to make good recommendations and clearly understood everything they were serving. The menu is small, mostly tapas style, and pretty expensive. But every dish we tried was wonderful. You can see it all online before arriving. Cocktails were delicious without being pretentious. Wine and beer choice was well curated. We went later. After dinner. I think it would be hard to show up super hungry.

Have been wanting to try this place out for a while now, and we were not disappointed. The lists of cocktails and dishes are very creative, and the options we chose were delicious. Certainly discovered new combinations of flavors. Plus we got a very enthusiastic and helpful waiter/barman ... thank you for the recommendations on wine and the spumante.

Bar Lupulus was nice. The server was the sweetest and helpful, and the restaurant had a nice setting. The cocktail was suggested by the server which suited my taste very well. I would have to say their Large Plate is not so large - to keep in mind for future visitors! It was delicious nonetheless!

Enjoyed everything about this meal. Service was good, but the food would bring me back. We enjoyed the beverages and the variety of beers. The short rib in particular was incredible. The dessert was just okay, as was the crab dish. But the duck starter was exceptional.

Had a girls night here last weekend and it was the atmosphere we were hoping for. The minute we walked in and we were greeted by the staff, they provided us with a small beer tasting as we waiting for our table to be ready. Then we had the pleasure of ordering more drinks and food. The olive starter is just lovely, we all ordered separate main courses and all three were delicious. The ambiance was lovely and we can't wait to go back.

We were looking for a spot that decided to keep vaccination requirements, and found Bar Lupulus. I have been meaning to try it, and can't explain how happy I am that we finally did. Atmosphere: fabulous Food: wonderful for sharing (we only got small plates) Service: fantastic. Server had us laughing and smiling the moment we walked in the door We'll be back!!

I have been wanting to try this restaurant for awhile and was not disappointed. Excellent cocktail, they also had a very extensive tap list. Everything we ate was delicious! Good date night! We will definitely be returning.

I don’t drink alcohol and I LOVE this place! I can join my beer/wine lovers friends for a great evening. The secret is the food! I for sure did not expect to find such quality dishes in a bar. I loved the carrots dish and hope to find it again on the menu on my next visit. Service is A+ !

Food, service and drinks were all fantastic. Our server was kind and prompt with the orders. The backyard patio is really nice, it does feel like a little oasis. The prices are also reasonable for the quality of the meals you are getting.

The whole experience was wonderful. The staff know their menus (drinks & food) inside out and know how to pair things nicely. The atmosphere is very chic or trendy, but comfortable - it works well and the food, and service elevate it even higher. Highly recommend, this was a recommendation to me by some foodies I know, and they love this place!

From the atmosphere to the drinks and meals, everything was amazing! Only reason why it isn’t rated 5 stars is that I find their hot plates to be quite expensive given the portions. It’s really more tapa, small plate style. Ended the night still hungry despite ordering a hot plate and 2 charcuteries to share with my friend. Would suggest going there more for apps and drinks, and going elsewhere for a filling meal!

Great experience! The drinks were fantastic, and the service was even better! Our server was very kind and energetic, also knowledgeable she put together our charcuterie board with very vague input. She also gave us some fantastic recommendations. The atmosphere was good nice setting the place is loud, but that’s part of the vibe and buzz. Overall a great experience it is on the high end but it’s worth it!

Oh my, so good. I plead with my friends who live in Ottawa to eat here when I am visiting. I am always surprised by the menu, and I love that the staff is so knowledgeable to suggest a wine pairing. (my friend had the halibut cheek & I had the pea & salsa verde agnolotti) Simply Wow!

This is one of my favorite spots, I just love going there. Try to have Graham's service!! He's just amazing, so funky and has such a thorough knowledge of his wine menu. The menu is often changing but always surprises me, I keep going back, give them a try! (Sharing plates is the best thing to do here)

What a great experience! Big selection of local bears, beautiful patio and knowledgeable wait staff. I really enjoyed the lamb galette and the chocolate cake.

Named one of Canada's Best 100 in 2021, it's not surprising that Bar Lupulus is amazing. Its upscale ambience yet unpretentious atmosphere continues to attract a crowd. However, a fan since 2018, I love Lupulus for a different reason - Anthony Spagnolo's ability to assemble a team who continually reinvents the restaurant. Whether it's Chef Lewis Robinson pairing wildly opposing flavours with innovative techniques, Marc Bosse crafting both classic cocktails and inspired concoctions, or Graham Larose bursting with excitement as he explains a new dish, everyone exudes the enthusiasm of contributing to something great. Offering some of the best value in the city, I go regularly knowing that each outing will be a unique and special experience. This place deserves all the recognition it has gained.

My friend and I were excited to go after hearing positive reviews about Bar Lupulus. The restaurant atmosphere was warm and lively, and our server was very sweet and knowledgeable. Why 3 stars? The food was disappointing. To start, we had charcuterie, which took a very long time to come even though the restaurant was empty, and it’s just assembling raw ingredients. The mix of meat and cheese portions were very small for what we paid. Smoked salmon was a miss - it was like a fishy cake and the taste and texture weren’t working for us. We also tried the tartare which we liked but they could’ve done better with the bread, as it was the same one we ate with the charcuterie. My salad was beautifully presented and looked super delicious. The first few bites were amazing, but then the tartness of the dressing got overwhelming and I couldn’t finish the dish at the end. Food: 5/10 Service: 7.5/10

Actually Bar lupulus on the Resy App for a while, but I guess it‘s traditional bar with regular bar dishes so I've never been there before until my last roommates recommended to me. Wow, the dishes and drink both over my expectation. They offer craft beer in different size 4 oz 9oz etc. All good and you should try some fruit beer if you do not like those "strong" IPA. As you can see in my uploaded images. My girl and I drink 13 glasses (2 free as a compensation because no cocktail when beer night ). Dishes is Ottawa first level definitely, Liver, Duck pasta are the most impressive during the whole menu (almost order all menu). I will revisit again this year for sure.

I have been here a few times. The only complaint I had was our waitress seemed like she was having a rough day or was swamped. Amazing patio and interesting cocktails. Desserts were delicious as well!

I've been to Bar Lupulus a few times now and consistently enjoyed it! Always a great beer selection and the food is excellent. The space can be a bit noisy when it gets really full, but the atmosphere overall is quite nice. It's quite fun to sit at the bar table near the back, to watch the chefs prepare and garnish the dishes to go out for service.

We went for our 11th anniversary tonight and were so happy we did. The food, cocktails, service (Graham, you rock!), atmosphere, Covid safety measures... everything was impeccable. We enjoyed: - cured trout and Île Ash cheese charcuterie with sourdough crackers, pickles, and gels(!) - beef tartare with kimchi emulsion - slow roasted miso-glazed lamb with creamed-but-not-creamed corn and huitlacoche salsa - chocolate olive oil cake with sous vide cheesecake frosting (?) and hibiscus gel I only got pix of the charcuterie and dessert because we devoured everything else too quickly, but let me assure you that everything was plated beautifully and tastes exquisite. Such care and creativity went into each dish. Highly recommend!

I absolutely love the food. Dishes are original, flavourful, fresh, seasonal. Cocktails are delicious. Amazing wine and whiskey menu. Service could be improved. Being kicked out after 2 hours, when it actually took 45 minutes for the waitress to take our order… that was just bad. Went another time and they messed up our reservation. Having to argue with the lady in the front while we were right all along. Again: that was just bad. I went back and will still go back because the owner is just so nice and makes it up for staff’s mess, and the food experience is always perfect. But seriously… service needs to be fixed.

The charcuterie we shared and the steak my partner ordered were great, so I would recommend it based on that. Unfortunately my bucatini was insanely salty. My stomach did not feel great after finally stopping at 3/4 of the way. My dish may have been an outlier though, I’ve asked a friend who had ordered in the past and he said his was not salty at all. Again I would recommend the place, just skip the bucatini since there’s a 50/50 chance you’ll get a salt bomb

Always an exceptional selection of beer on tap! Have had several dessert dishes that look incredible and taste great! Service is friendly and knowledgeable! Regularly new items on the menus!

My experience at Bar Lupulus was exceptional. I ordered the Beef Tartare, Arctic Char and peaches and cream. All dishes were delicious. However, I found each dish to be too creamy which balanced the nature flavour of the dish too much- personal preference. The wine and cocktail list was great and our server helped us understand how we could pair our wine with our dishes which was much appreciated. We loved our servers' passion for wine- this contributed to us having a great time because we knew we were not randomly selecting wines off the menu. 200% for service! Highly recommend! This place lives up exception in all three areas.

Amazing cocktails! Went for after dinner drinks so I didn’t try the food but will definitely return for dinner soon. The drinks are delicious and creative with funny names. Service is knowledgeable and over all top notch. Thank you to the bartenders and service staff!

If 6 were an option, this place would get it. Don't be fooled by "Bar" or "Lupulus", because while the hops on tap are amazing, the wine list and cocktails are equally so, and the staff is trilingual in whatever you fancy. But the "lupus" in sheep's clothing is the full on top tier restaurant hidden behind the bar. Chef joined the team 9 months ago, and one word...exceptional. The kitchen and the bar staff complement each other seamlessly. If you can get a seat at the bar, you won't be disappointed. What a perfect evening.

Expensive cocktails but food was gorgeous, delicious and worth it. Had the scallops, which were served cold with a delicious sauce, strongly recommended. Good for sharing. Also had the paw paw mousse and Graham cracker iced cream. Also delicious and really interesting. Customer service was excellent. The staff make you feel like they are there for you and are very knowledgeable about their food. Cocktails were interesting, I couldn't decide and had the staff recommend two. They were definitely different then cocktails I have tried before, and I quite enjoyed the surprise. Also, vaccinations are still required, so you know they are making sure to keep their staff and other patrons safer. Overall excellent experience and I will be returning. Hi, A very nice menu, great food and variety of excellent beers. We like to bring our out-of-the-hood friends here for a special night out. Expect a bit of a pricey meal but worth it! We have not been disappointed.

I am not an Ottawa resident so I don't know if this is really true, but this is the BEST place for excellent craft beer, natural wine, and amazing food. My wife and I had an excellent anniversary meal and had an incredible waiter who was knowledgeable and friendly. We will come back each time we are in town

Sheer art. Think of your food as layers of flavor, with a beautiful unique story crafted, gathered and presented by the chef. This is not the place to shovel in a huge portion. This is a place to appreciate flavors and go slow. Excellent selection of local craft beers.

Was looking forward to this restaurant as heard and read a lot of good things - unfortunately on the night, the dishes didn’t work for us. The cheese board is phenomenally expensive for average cheese with some of the worst dips we’ve ever tasted. The starters were ok but the beef short rib was outstanding!!! The cocktails were not great but the mocktail was amazing! Very confusing place - at the moment I would not return. Service was great!!!

First time here and I was very impressed by the service, beer selection and menu. Our server took the time to explain each dish. The menu has lots of options (including vegetarian) but it's not overwhelming. The beers are excellent as well. Highly recommended!

Excellent restaurant. Beautiful patio. The food was all amazing—every dish was both delicious and expertly presented. Our server, Graham, was delightful and very personable. He went above and beyond in our opinion. The restaurant is a true standout gem of the area.

Beautiful space and an impressive selection of beers. Reservations definitely required. We got in with a cancellation and had 1 hour for our table- fine. But it took about 15 minutes to receive our drinks, and by the 40 minute mark they were pushing us out, which really dampened the atmosphere. They should also have flights for their 4 oz draft samplers, because the small table quickly got cluttered with full sized glasses.

5/5 for the backyard homely setting 5/5 for the service 5/5 for the selection of beers and cocktails 3/5 for the food unfortunately Will come again just for the ambience experience and drinks
