Montgomery
Scotch
Lounge
is
an
under-appreciated
hangout
spot
in
the
Glebe.
This
is
an
ideal
spot
for
having
a
conversation
with
friends
where
you
can
actually
hear
what
other
people
are
saying.
It's
also
great
taking
a
date
who
you
want
to
have
a
real
conversation
with.
There
aren't
a
lot
of
mixed-purpose
spaces
in
Ottawa,
but
this
one
is
done
very
well.
By
day,
it's
Oat
Couture.
By
night,
it's
Montgomery
Scotch
Lounge.
The
atmosphere
is
intimate
and
relaxed.
Everything
seems
very
thoughtful
and
well
crafted.
It's
very
approachable
for
people
who
like
a
chill
place
to
hang
out,
but
also
caters
to
whiskey
snobs.
The
drinks
menu
is
dominated
by
whiskeys
(obviously),
but
they
do
have
a
small
cocktail
menu
where
pretty
much
every
option
is
excellent.
Their
whiskey
menu
is
outstanding
and
rivals
any
whiskey
menu
in
Ottawa.
I
personally
prefer
getting
my
fancier
whiskies
from
here
because
the
atmosphere
is
much
more
relaxed
and
the
space
is
better
designed
than
the
other
whiskey
bars
I've
been
to
around
town.
I
recommend
starting
by
reading
the
descriptions
of
the
whiskeys
and
trying
something
that
you've
never
had
before.
They
have
excellent
options
that
cater
to
most
budgets.
If
you
get
tipsy
really
quickly,
switch
to
one
of
the
low-cost
whiskeys
or
cocktails,
because
you're
not
going
to
notice
the
difference
after
a
few
;)
Last
time
we
went
the
staff
were
new
hires,
so
they
were
still
learning
the
ropes
and
service
was
slower
than
normal;
I
trust
they've
gotten
the
hang
of
things
since
then.
It's
a
small
place,
so
there
is
only
one
washroom.
It's
clean
and
well-kept.
They
even
have
a
video
on
loop
of
Brian
Cox
(Scottish
actor)
in
the
washroom
teaching
you
how
to
pronounce
whiskey
names
properly.
I
believe
I
saw
StopGap
ramp
so
this
place
is
wheelchair
accessible.
Once
inside
the
cashier
counter
and
bar
are
low
and
easy
to
access
for
customers
in
wheelchairs
