I'm going to tell you right now...the pictures you see are NOTHING compared to seeing these trees in person. The size, seeing them move as you look up and sound they make are truly amazing. Being surrounded by nature like this is a real way to just relax and connect with the planet. We just went down the Avenue of the Giants and pulled off at the different trails. Next time I'm definitely going to reserve a space for my RV and stay longer. I can see this as being another one of my favorite places in California!

It is amazing to have opportunity to walk among all those giant trees, clovers and mushrooms. The trails were easy and provided us plenty of fun and joy. Breathtaking landscapes! We want return in another season to see the new colors and the changes they will bring to the walk.

This was the second redwood grove I stopped in on what is now the most magical day of my life. Leaving Crescent city in the morning and spending most of the morning and a redwood grove we travel further south it happened upon this one not even really knowing about it. I think the road was like 26 miles long and it was just endless redwoods. We got out and explored and it was breathtaking. Words are too clumsy to describe it. Definitely travel to see this it’s worth flying across the country just to go to this place alone.

This was awesome, Def one of the highlights of our trip. A very surreal experience being amongst the trees. Everyone was super nice and helpful and the displays were informative and interesting. It was a beautiful drive, clean facilities, overall a must see if you are anywhere in the vicinity.

This spot was so beautiful. Have you ever wanted to feel like a fairy for a day? Well, after two different vacations I have now seen all the red wood groves in California. My husband and I decided to travel to California to see the Pacific Coast on Hwy. 1. I am very impressed with the amount of people involved with preserving the trees. The forest rangers were friendly and well informed on the area. The drive through the groove was on smooth black top road. Watch out for the photographers set up along the road. These trees will make you feel very small.

Camping under the redwoods was definitely something to behold. Campgrounds have plenty of space to roam and explore. Having a private tent site, rather than right next to each other was a plus. Restrooms and showers are close by. Park rangers give a good presentation. Don't forget your quarters for the showers.

Stunning place, it is unfathomable the size of the trees here. Lots of great walking trails through the forest. Maps and suggested hikes.can be picked up from the visitors centre where there is also a restroom nearby. Trails are well marked out and have some interesting information on the boards near the visitors centre also. Remember to take water with you as it can get quite warm but the views on the trails are absolutely superb and there is no admission fee. Parking is ample at the centre with an overflow car park also available.

Road trip with my bestie and the Avenue of Giants was a path we wanted to travel! It certainly did not disappoint. The tall Redwoods are just magical! This was a shorter drive than we expected but definitely worth it. Make sure you stop along the road and get out of you car. The height of these trees are just unbelievable.

Driving through the area gives you a sense for the magnitude of the trees that pictures cannot do full justice to. Thick forests and trees measured around the diameter in metres is a treat that awaits you in the Redwood Forests. Lots of pull out areas along the way to stop and admire what is truly an avenue of giants! With waterfalls along the way, there’s a lot to do in the area. An auto tour is available and recommended.

Great drive, about 30 miles, you will have to get out of 101 and get onto the Avenue of Giants. Try to make it during ten day when there is abundant sunlight, else it gets dark for pictures.

majestic natural wonder that inspires awe and reverence in all who visit. the towering redwood trees, some of the tallest in the world, create a peaceful and contemplative atmosphere that invites visitors to connect with the natural world and reflect on the mysteries of life. walking through the park's winding trails, one can't help but feel a sense of spiritual renewal and rejuvenation. the beauty and majesty of the trees, combined with the sounds of the rushing river and the singing of birds, create a powerful and uplifting experience. the park's natural beauty is a testament to the power and wonder of the natural world, and it reminds us of our place in the larger scheme of things. it encourages us to live in harmony with the earth, to take care of it and preserve it for future generations. overall, humboldt redwoods state park is a sacred and deeply spiritual place, a place where visitors can connect with the natural world and feel a sense of peace and wonder.

Loved this park along the avenue of the giants. Did a few of the hikes along the way. We did not have to pay for this park. Went in April during the week but looks like it would get very busy in high season. Visitor center is really well done.

If you love camping and nature then this is the perfect place for you. There are plenty of camping soace available. The redwood trees are very beautiful. There's a forest across the camping site where you can take pictures. Just be careful coming here especially when it's getting dark. You might drain the battery of your phone and might get lost without gps.

Humboldt Redwoods State Park is a natural wonder located in Humboldt County, California, and it stands as a testament to the grandeur and ecological significance of the Coastal Redwood forests. Here are some historical details and significant facts about this remarkable park: 1. Ancient Giants: Humboldt Redwoods State Park is home to some of the world's tallest and oldest trees. The park boasts numerous groves of towering Coastal Redwoods, including the famous Founders Tree, which is estimated to be around 3,000 years old. 2. Preservation Efforts: The park's creation is intertwined with conservation efforts. In the early 20th century, there was a growing concern about the destruction of these ancient trees due to logging. As a response, the Save-the-Redwoods League, established in 1918, played a pivotal role in acquiring and preserving the land that would become Humboldt Redwoods State Park. 3. Immense Biodiversity: The park isn't just about the redwoods; it also features diverse ecosystems, including oak woodlands, meadows, and river habitats. This biodiversity supports a range of wildlife, including black bears, river otters, and countless bird species. 4. Avenue of the Giants: One of the most famous features of the park is the Avenue of the Giants, a 31-mile scenic drive that winds through towering redwoods. It offers numerous opportunities for picnicking, hiking, and exploring the ancient groves. 5. Visitor Centers: The Humboldt Redwoods State Park Visitor Center provides informative exhibits about the park's history, ecology, and conservation efforts. It's an excellent starting point for visitors looking to learn more about this natural wonder. 6. Recreational Activities: Beyond awe-inspiring tree gazing, the park offers a range of recreational activities such as hiking, camping, fishing, swimming, and even kayaking on the Eel River. 7. Preservation and Education: The park is not only a haven for nature enthusiasts but also a place dedicated to environmental education and research. It plays a crucial role in studying and preserving these ancient trees and their ecosystems for future generations. Humboldt Redwoods State Park is not just a place of immense natural beauty but also a testament to the dedication of conservationists and the enduring splendor of these ancient redwoods. It continues to inspire visitors with its awe-inspiring trees and the rich history of preservation efforts that have allowed these giants to thrive.

Stayed at the Hidden Springs campsite in spot 12 and 14. Spot 12 was mostly directly in the sun while spot 14 was mostly shade. Both were close to the shower/restrooms. The park was amazing, would definitely recommend.

The drive was beautiful. We took the drive on the spur of the moment based on a roadside billboard. So, we got started a little later in the day. When it got dark, we pulled into a designated parking area because my husband and I (who are seniors) don't see well enough to feel comfortable driving at night. All the parking areas along the stretch of road were empty, and there were no cars coming through at night. It was so dark, quiet, and peaceful, and we were excited to complete our drive through the park the next morning when it got light. We didn't want to miss any of the sights. A few hours after we fell asleep, we got a knock on our window. A park ranger told us we couldn't be parked there. The ranger was helpful enough, so we parked in another area off the road (where he told us to park) that was not nearly as safe. I did not feel it was safe at all, in fact. Then, a bit later, when we were trying to fall back asleep, another park ranger tapped on our window to tell us we couldn't be parked THERE. This ranger was condescending, arrogant, and unfriendly, to say the least of his behavior toward us. We said we thought it was OK to park and rest because there were no signs saying not to. We let him know we didn't feel safe driving at night. He said there are signs posted all over the park. There wasn't. Not even in the designated parking areas. He rudely said we should have 'planned ahead' if we were planning on spending the night - or not get caught in the park at dark. ?! We are not welcome to cruise through the park on the spur of the moment as tourists? So, we decided to go ahead and make the drive out of the park, in the dark, so we would not be harassed any further by park rangers.

Nice campground. We were there for only one night. I liked the individual bathroom set up type near our site number 40. Did not use the showers. Beautiful drive to get to the campgound.

My favorite state park in all of California. The trees are breathtaking. There are fun, funky towns to stop in. Best of all is Burlington Campground located in the heart of old growth Redwoods right near the visitor's center. It has to be one of the quietest, most serene spots on Earth ❀️
