Edited Feb 2023 to add: it’s getting worse! The shelves that are located where the dressing rooms used to be, are apparently for what they consider to be collectibles and pricing them higher than even some of the antique shops and thrift shops in town that do it for CHARITY/still have real people as cashiers/still have change rooms! Also, why get rid of the change rooms entirely??? And most disturbingly, they had a friggin’ 24 hour urine collection specimen bottle for sale!!! Which made me question everything. Including why I went there again! Also seeing increasing amounts of high priced Joe Fresh clothing. Can get it cheaper straight from superstore if I wanted to, especially when they have it on sale/clearance. Joe Fresh is not high ticket brand, stop pricing it like it is. And then there’s the public bathrooms. I just don’t believe in businesses being allowed to close their public bathrooms. They are often announcing over the intercom either temporary closure, possibly for the “guard’s” break but why not have someone cover for them? Or a few times I was there and they were closed for the “rest of the day” when the store was still open for another 2hrs. This was unheard of when I was growing up. Sure, maintenance of a bathroom poses some challenges, but that’s what you have to do when you have a business that profits off of selling things to human beings! Downgrading to one star. Original review: Prices have gotten ridiculous here lately. So much stuff that is from the the dollar store - sometimes there’s even still a label on it and the value village price for the used item is higher than the original dollar store price when the item was new! Lots of things they’ve priced high, comparable to if you were buying from someone who curates vintage items, which is unfair. The curator charges more because the time they spent searching for that item, PAYING for it, storing it, staging, cleaning/restoring it etc. I shouldn’t have to pay those prices when I’m scouring a second hand store (that had it HAND DELIVERED to them for FREE) myself. Many other things I can also get cheaper new… and I highly doubt this increase in prices reflects better wages for the front line staff. And 9.99 for a used beach towel? Really? I prefer to buy used and not contribute to waste but I’m not willing to pay more for used when I can get it new for the same price or cheaper.

I don’t know where else a company would get away with selling unwashed USED merchandise THEY GET FOR FREE at prices higher than what the items cost new at Walmart or Winners. Today they wanted $5.99 for a dish that had a price tag from Liquidation World for $1.50. FREE hotel toiletries for $2.99. It goes on and on. No wonder the shelves are full - people aren’t stupid… Corporate greed at its finest.

Went there to look for something for a friend. The aisles we spaced apart better than most places. And it didn't smell as bad as some. There is a restroom. But I had to take stars off because we noticed many items being sold for double what they cost brand new! And we really dislike that they only have self checkout machines. It means there is no contact with people. Not a friendly feeling place to shop. We spend less time there because of that.

One of the few places I went in as a new immigrant back in 2018, and still in my go-to list of places for cheap clothes. If buying second hand items is no big deal to you then you might like this place as well. Lots of clothes for the family, household items, electronic stuff, bags, shoes, and more. They offer rewards/discounts to regular patrons, spacious parking lot, and friendly staff. Family just went to look for a black trench coat or blazer for my son's grad pic and we found one, and more 😉👌👍paid $242 for 23 items, average of $10.50 each.. great buy and value for money.

This store has gone down hill in the last five years. Since they got rid of the change rooms, baskets, and any remotely helpful employees. I feel bad that so many people donate their free goods here for this giant to turn around and sell them from $15-$20 or more than what they originally cost. Really sad used to be a staple for twenty years.

Quite large store, appears well maintained. Also has self checkout kiosks (with cash payment options) which I really liked, makes shopping a little easier.

I don't usually write reviews but my experience here tonight was very horrendous. I came in today last minute 30 minutes till close I was just getting to the till since there was almost 10 minutes left until close and some lady who almost appeared to me to be in management at the till was telling customers there was 5 minutes till close on the intercom at 6:48 when store closes at 7. I understand getting customers to the till to purchase their things but it was not even quite 10 minutes until official close yet. The lady was extremely aggressive and rude I felt extremely uncomfortable when I was paying at the till as she was going back and forth from the intercom to customers yelling at them. I am thankful it wasn't her serving me the cashier we dealt with was very patient but this lady and the other workers all I could see in their faces was pure fear as this lady was yelling. That doesn't feel very safe for a work environment to me, I myself work in retail and I DO NOT treat my customers that way when we are closing no matter how annoyed I am. She literally and I quote said "GET THE FREAK OUT" In an extremely loud agressive tone. A simple "excuse me I just wanted to let you know we close right away could you please go to the till if you are getting something" in a calmer tone would have been better. I seriously still can't believe what I just experienced tonight. I understand wanting to close and go home after a long day but what crosses the line for me is you DO NOT snap at your CUSTOMERS! It's unprofessional and disrespectful. Respect to your customers should always be a stores #1 top priority. I truly hope in the future she will not be doing this again.

Meh they're all corporate now and prices are up. If you go to the other thrift stores in town you'll find better prices. I always whip through it just to see if any interesting books or tools or some thing are there but buy mostly at the other thrifts now.

As an immigrant, this is a go to place to go grab "stuff" you need around the house like kitchen, bathroom or little ornaments. It is also good to stock up on clothes after you just arrived. Yes, you might have to dig in to find exactly what you like or your size, but it is ok for the price. You cannot try on at the store, but the returns policy is of 14 days.

I gave one star because there's still no change rooms. There's one in all the mall clothing stores and places. Let's get it together people. When u go to shop there from an hr and a half away u don't want to come back to exchange jeans that don't fit. And plus everything there is very overpriced for donated items. Craziness. Oh. And there was a guard for the washroom. Really? Salvation army next door is better place to go.

Though Value Village gets all of their product from local donations either at the store (free) or buy donations through non-profit partners. They are not a "non-profit" organization. They are a private-sector corporation owned primarily by Freeman Spogli & Partners and Berkshire / Savers Inc. (USA). They only donate an average of 17% of their net profit / revenues to local charities. Generally, they offer decent value on many items and the store is well managed, clean and if you are careful shopper .. there are a few bargains to be found! However, much of their product has become overpriced. That said ... they often have an odd or unique item that you may not find eleswhere!

It's Value Village so there are pros and cons. This particular VV has by far the largest selection of thrift items in the city. Part of the joy of thrifting is the thrill of the hunt and finding an item that is special for whatever reason at a good price. You have to put in the legwork for that to happen. For sure there are dollar store and Walmart items that are priced higher than they originally sold for. But I have also found things like Coach leather boots for $20. However, markups are definitely soaring lately on everything, I expect in response to people scooping up deals to resell on sites like Poshmark. The lack of change rooms is a huge deterrent esp. with their limited exchange policy. Staff is never particularly helpful. Still, if you like thrifting, it's one of the best places in Saskatoon to go. Other thrifts may be cheaper but they also have a much smaller selection

For the last 20 years if I've been in the city I've always tried to make a trip or two here, can still get great finds even though prices have been going up. I must say I'm very against their disposing of the change rooms, it's not easy for me to make a trip here, to not be able to try anything on before purchasing I feel is very cheap and a big money grab. Disappointed.

Awesome awesome awesome awesome, I just can't get enough of value village. Good staff, they had a security guard at the door so that made everything feel safer. And since I'm from Ontario I had quite a little laugh seeing all the block heaters for sale, you guys get a colder winter than us, that's for sure

My wife and I are long-time shoppers at Value Village, as we appreciate its reasonable price structure and are committed to the philosophy of reusing consumer goods whenever possible. However, its recent removal of fitting rooms in tandem with very restrictive return policies are challenging our loyalty. It seems excessive to continue to deny your customers the use of fitting rooms. This situation is exacerbated by Value Village's restrictive return policy which allows return of clothing--which now must first be purchased and then fitted at home--only in exchange for an item of equal or lesser value. Unfortunately, this policy works for the customer only if there is in-stock an item that a customer needs. This isn't always the case. I would encourage Value Village to reconsider either its return policy or its denial of fitting rooms. Value Village's excuse that shoppers now have more floor space with the removal of fitting rooms simply ignores what is most important to its customers. Under current circumstances, it's simply unfair to refuse to provide refunds or in-store credits for clothing that doesn't fit.

This is a spacious well laid-out store, making it easy to find where your bargains are. The workers receiving donations are really prompt and efficient; you'll get coupons to use too!

Don't usually care for VV since it is a for profit, and some of their prices are a little up there. Was next to the hotel I was at, so I walked there and found a few goods, which is usually the norm for anyone. Old saying still goes, one man's trash......lol. Staff were nice. I would definitely choose Salvation Army thrift stores before VV any day, though. And that Is basically the only reason I took off 2 stars. I would rate it no stars if this wasn't about my experience and not the company itself. Found a sweet jewelry box.

I'm not happy about the ridiculous prices they have now. They get their merchandise for FREE, They DO NOT donate to any charity or cause anymore and they're phasing out actual cashiers. I'm sorry but I now prefer giving my business to thrift stores who are trying to do things for our communities.

Bring change rooms back to your stores. Your exchange policy is absolutely ridiculous - a measly 14 days to EXCHANGE clothes?!? Do you know how hard it is to find clothes that fit when you're thrifting? By not allowing people to try on clothes and then not accepting returns, you are stealing their money. Forcing an exchange either causes us, the customer, to either pay more for an item or to sacrifice the difference if we do not want to pay more. This is unethical and unfair. If you at least gave store credit, it would be fair and remove the 14 day time limit. I am now out $40 and two shopping trips looking for jeans that fit. You'll be amazed to learn that women's jeans don't all fit the same regardless of supposedly being the same size. And in order to not straight-up lose $40, I will be back at one of the disastrous locations this weekend to try and recoup my losses. Either bring back change rooms or fix your return policy because this is madness.

Great finds every time I go in. You do have to search but isn't that what makes thrifting fun?

Lots of self check outs and one that accepts cash, super convenient. The store is always clean and maintained. 90% of staff are decent and nice. However the man that works in the toy area/public bathroom area is always staring at my kids and following them around and quite noticeably looking at their butts when they walk past him (their 5 and 8) it makes me so uncomfortable that I no longer allow them in the toy area without me if he’s working there. Huge selection of clothing, far more than the other location and better stuff as well: although sizing is super mix and matched.

It is the coolest selection of very interesting things somethings are over priced but you can find treasures other stores that only have new things could never offer! too bad you can't try on clothes ,change rooms would be very good there is less room for error, lots of mirrors make it a little better but with out trying it on it hard to know if it suits you, but over all a priceless experience I highly recommend it !

If you donate, you get a coupon for 20% off. Prices are a little high on a lot of stuff, so the coupon comes in handy. But sometimes you can find some great deals, like I picked up a pair of Rollerblades for $15 that are in great shape. If you're getting clothes, look at them closely for rips and stains. You can't get a refund, you just trade for something else in the store.

Absolutely loved shopping there they have almost everything and at a discount price too for people who are trying to budget. I went there a few weeks ago and was looking for a coffee/soup thermos, I found more than enough and a selection of more than ten different kinds they also sell gold and silver jewelry, brand name clothing and electronics and much more. I'd recommend it, definitely.
