You can only get into the bunker on extremely rare occasions. Advance registration is required!

The civil defense facility in Cologne-Kalk was intended to protect 2,366 Cologne residents for up to 14 days after a nuclear attack. Today it is a documentation site and can be visited. A guided tour is free. However, something should always be donated for the very detailed (voluntary) 90-minute guided tour...

Who would have thought or even known that!?! A subway station in Cologne becomes a hermetically sealed bunker with space for over 2,000 people. The core of the tour includes an introduction and a subsequent tour and lasted just over 1 1/2 hours. Technology still functional. Very clean and tidy. Thank you very much.

An interesting place to experience first hand the madness of the nuclear threat during the Cold War era. In the civil defense facility "Kalke-Post stop" 2,366 people were supposed to survive the nuclear war for 14 days. During free guided tours you can find out the background to the civil defense planning and the technical implementation of such a large-scale facility. Further information can be found at Welt.unter.koeln.de Online registration is mandatory as demand is very high.

Special location. Shows how politicians wanted to manage the nuclear war for the population. A really worth seeing and absurd project from the Cold War. Very interesting tour. Recommended.

The volunteer members of the Kölner Festungsmuseum e.V. association regularly offer guided tours of the civil defense facility and patiently answer all questions. The facility has been operated by the association since 2015. The tours are free, but prior registration is necessary.
