I went yesterday April 3rd. It was awesome beautiful weather. There were a lot of people but you couldn't really tell it except from the parking lot. There is so much space and places to visit that it was extremely enjoyable. If history is your cup of tea, I highly recommend a visit to this place. It is great for all ages. I even noticed they had motorized scooters you rent if you couldn't walk long distances which I thought was thoughtful. Everyplace seems wheelchair accessible. So do go and enjoy yourself.

Our day at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center was an absolute dream! The abundance of free parking made our visit hassle-free. 🚗 The center seamlessly blends fun and learning, engaging us in rocket science, mathematics, aerospace, engineering, and technology through hands-on building activities. 🌌📚 The myriad of benefits exploring the center offers makes it a perfect day of education and exploration. Highly recommend for families seeking a unique and enriching experience! 🚀🌟

Wow. Just wow. What an experience. This place did not disappoint! We did 2 planetarium shows: The Sounds of Space and Cosmos and Cocktails. We had the amazing opportunity to speak with two WOMEN who are engineers for NASA. The gift shop employees were super knowledgeable and friendly. The only confusing part was there was no honorable mention to Katherine Johnson (Hidden Figures). It would have been great to see a dedication to her. It was a great experience all in all though.

Awesome experience!! Great permanent exhibits, and several temporary ones that change up a couple times a year. This month, they had a really cool Guinness Book of World Records - Science of Play exhibit in the main room! It was so much fun!! There were dozens of different games and challenges for kids of all ages to interact with. I highly, highly recommend going to the 8K Planetarium movie "Our Place in Space" !!! (Tickets are $10-$12 each, but its worth it!)

This is a decent place to bring young children for an outing. I came during the week so it wasn't so crowded for the most part. Planetarium show was okay, wasn't as exciting as we thought. But worth the $10 while there. Good amount of information regarding space and replica models.

The people who work here take great pride in their history. It was great to see all the authentic pieces. We enjoyed the ability to climb into some of them and feel what it was like to be an astronaut. We also liked walking through the replica of the international space station. They have many experiences that are not included in the admission price. So go check then out first before you decide which ones to choose. The place is showing its age.

Such an educational, fun museum. There is SO MUCH to see and do. There are so many interactive things for kids and adults to do. There is so much to see, watch, and experience here. We even got to speak with a rocket scientist who has been doing this for 52 years. It's hard to even summarize the experience. Truly, our nations space history spread out. Lots of walking but worth it. The staff is friendly and efficient at answering questions. There are so many restrooms and easy wheelchair access throughout. You could spend a whole day exploring and finding more facts and information. There are outside exhibits and indoor ones. There are tons of picnic tables outside, and there is a cafe with indoor seating as well. Wear your walking shoes and take lots of pictures. It is something your guests will talk about for years to come.

The tickets are $30 each for entrance, but are 50 percent off on weekdays in February. There are additional charges for many of the activities. The Saturn V is the biggest attraction included with the admission ticket and there are free tours at scheduled times. The tour was worth it. We only had 4 hours on hand to spend here and wish we had more. There's the moon rock, NASA Lunar module, Mars 2020 Perseverance with Ascent vehicle and helicopter, the Apollo 16 command module, the mobile quarantine unit and many other exhibits that should not be missed. Near the building are gravesites of Miss Baker, the first squirrel monkey to go to space and come back alive and her husband.

So many things to see and do. I bought tickets online, which is highly recommended for any of the activities (there were only 3 spots available for flight simulator the day before). Neat to see everything. Very well organized and maintained. Lots of friendly staff. On-site restaurant is a bit expensive.

Fun place to learn history of the US space program. It’s expensive for a family to come here so plan accordingly. They charge for almost everything interactive once you pay the $30/ea. entrance fee. I get it that they are privately funded so they have to charge to get in. The kids loved it and I loved coming here as a kid myself. The restaurant is a rip off so plan food accordingly.

Had a fantastic time here. They had an extra exhibit set up in one of the other buildings that was great... I feel like they've left a little of the history out of it, but it was nice... Thinking of the space camp for my grandson. If you've never been and you have an interest in the history of space and rockets, it a great 2 to 3 hour outing.

I had a great experience here, learning about the space rockets and of course walking the grounds around the static displays. Take about 2.5 hours to walk and read of its uncrowded like the day I went. Also there were rocket scientists present for you to talk to. The hands on portion where you get to control some of the games was really a nice touch. I definitely recommend a visit.

We had a great experience at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center. We celebrated my nephews 6th birthday here. They had a lot of fun interactive stuff which kept the kids entertained and a lot of history for the adults. I was amazed at how big everything is. You watch movies about space but for some reason it doesn't do the size justice. I think it's very cool that you can go to space camp here, we saw a whole bunch of space camp cadets and they seemed to be having a great time. Definitely worth going to check it out.

Even if you're not a big space fan this place has something for everyone. Tons of specs program things inside and out. Old rockets and spacecraft, astronaut items, a real moon rock, the capsule from Apollo 16, and tons of play areas for kids. Such a cool experience to stand under the Saturn V and think of the historic missions it powered. We took our two boys 7 and 4 and they loved everything about the place. You will not regret seeing this place in person.

Went to see the planetarium space webb telescope on a whim... Didn't think I would be into a movie about space, but it blew my mind. First of all the screen you watch on at this facility is gigantic and is shaped like a dome that envelops you from most angles. It really does a good job of showing the scope of how small we are in the grand scheme of things.

The U.S. Space and Rocket Center was so awesome. I went with one of the local Boys & Girls Clubs in the Huntsville/Madison area. The staff was friendly and the areas where we learned about history regarding the different spaceships was so informative. I loved that there was a play area available to entertain the little ones in the group. The IMAX theater was awesome and it was refreshing learning about the different planets. The different foods trucks was an excellent idea because while touring we got hot and needed to cool off. The Kona Ice was so yummy. I tried the Strawberry. There is a space ride and had me hollering. It was so much fun. Go check it out and put on some good sneakers because you will do a lot of walking.

It was an amazing place to spend the day with the family. Super busy but we were able to easily do everything we wanted. The planetarium was so incredible. I would definitely recommend it while you are here. I can't explain how extraordinary it is to see.. my daughter kept saying it was out of this world 😁

Several years ago I took a trip to Huntsville to interview the surviving rocket scientists of the von Braun team. Konrad Dannenberg accompanied me for a phenomenal tour of the U.S. Space and Rocket Center. I thought of him today because on this day 50 years ago Alan Shepard and his crew splashed down in the Pacific. With him was the golf club he had used for a few moon shots. Photo credit below-Konrad Dannenberg (left) and astronaut Alan Shepard exchanged greetings at the US Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville, Ala. (The Huntsville Times via Associated Press/File 1986)

Not only was it INCREDIBLE to see REAL space crafts that went to SPACE, but a HUGE thank you to the employee who helped me when I got lost. My phone had died, so I couldn't find my family and ended up having a panic attack, but the employee who helped me was so kind and calm and helped me find my way, and I have nothing but appreciation for them! So, 5 stars for both an incredible experience of getting to see and learn all about some incredible space missions, but also for the fantastic customer service!

If you are even mildly interested in rockets or the space program, this is worth the $25 fee. They have a V2, and a Saturn 5. The Space Shuttle was missing, which was a disappointment (I suspect stolen by Wright Patterson? lol) but overall a fantastic display of space related equipment.

This was awesome. I came here quite a bit growing up but hadn't been in 20 years probably. We loved it. The rockets are awesome (of course), the grounds are kept up nicely and the gift shop was cool. We loved all the exhibits and had a blast walking around and checking out everything. Now the kid wants to go to space camp so there's that.

Amazing and affordable experience! Thanks to the Age of Corona, it was virtually empty. There is a full sized disassembled Saturn V rocket inside that will truly make you feel small! Just read up on Operation Paperclip...

This place is awesome! I was here alone and spent about 2.5 hours, if I had my kids I would have been here most of the day, really cool to see the ISS exhibit and be able to walk under some of the huge rockets

This is an incredible display on the history of past space programs. The sectioned Saturn 5 rocket elevated in it's own dedicated building was awesome. I highly recommend this place to anyone even remotely interested in the space program. I wish they had more on what is currently going on with plans to return to the moon and to explore Mars. This is an big opportunity for the museum to refresh itself. The space program itself has languished for a long time and fresh plans and developments are barely covered. What Space X is doing was practically ignored. Too many exhibits looked old and tired as well as the facilities. Some of the outdoor rockets looked like they belonged in a junkyard. Parking was ample and free. Easy to get to. They should offer senior discounts. Admission is based on what you want to do which I like

I checked off a bucket list item of things to do with kids before they move out. It had much to see and explore for the history-curious and much to touch for the hands on experiences. The planetarium proved to be an interesting show on the different planets. The host kept it a little humorous with his fact sharing. The spinning experience made all of the kids laugh as they twirled around, though for $10 for 1 minute... It took us about 3.5 hours to tour, though adults without young children may be able to spend longer looking at the signs more. An indoor playground kept them entertained while the bolder kids explored the rocket center. An outdoor exhibit with creative stops entertained everyone with some activities to draw space related pictures on chalkboards and take a turn on carnival type rides. We learned a lot about the history of the space ships and air travel. The place proved clean in the bathrooms, the concessions, and the indoor and outdoor exhibits. The staff gave everyone around us friendly service.

My visit to the U.S. Space & Rocket Center in Huntsville, Alabama, was an unforgettable journey into the world of space exploration. This center is not just a museum; it's an educational powerhouse that provides an immersive experience into the history, science, and future of space travel. As you approach the center, you are immediately struck by the imposing rockets and space artifacts on display, creating a sense of awe and excitement. The grounds are well-maintained and provide an excellent backdrop for the incredible exhibits inside. The museum houses an extensive collection of space artifacts, including a Saturn V rocket, which is a marvel to behold. Walking beneath this giant is a humbling experience that really puts into perspective the scale and ambition of space travel. The exhibits are thoughtfully presented, with informative plaques and interactive displays that are both educational and engaging. One of the highlights of my visit was the space shuttle simulator. It gives you a glimpse into what astronauts experience during a space mission, offering a mix of thrill and learning. For younger visitors and the young at heart, this is a particularly exciting feature. The center also does an excellent job in educating visitors about the history of space exploration, from the early days of the space race to current and future missions. The displays are comprehensive, covering various aspects of space science, including astronomy, astronautics, and the technology used in space missions. For families with children, the U.S. Space & Rocket Center is a fantastic destination. The interactive exhibits, hands-on activities, and educational films make learning about space fun and accessible for all ages. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable, always ready to answer questions and share interesting space facts. Another aspect worth mentioning is the Space Camp programs offered at the center. These programs provide a unique opportunity for kids and teenagers to engage in simulated astronaut training, which is both educational and inspiring. The U.S. Space & Rocket Center in Huntsville is a must-visit for anyone interested in space and science. It offers an enriching experience that is both educational and entertaining. Whether you're a space enthusiast or just curious about the final frontier, this center will not disappoint.

Incredible experience whether you care of not about space. Stunning collection and lots of learning they make sure never goes over your head. They even had NASA retirees to talk about their work on the rockets you're standing right in front of. Highlight of the trip.

What a great place! It was really fascinating to see their array of exhibits spanning the history of the US space program. You never understand the huge scale of the rockets until you see them in person- they are enormous! The planetarium was fun and a little dizzying. I went in the summer so space camp was in session and it was great to see all those kids so engaged.

Really great place, lots under construction when we went. Great places for kids to explore and do a space camp experience. There were many interactive things to do. Overall we took our littles here and got through it pretty quick. About 1 and 1/2 hours was all we needed but with older kids reading some info and doing the space camp would take much longer I’m sure.

  • 5/5 David C. 1 year ago on Google
Wow! Truly a place for the young and old. So much history, very informative displays with real artifacts, courteous guides to explain questions asked, just an overall excellent place to go. A planetarium that is a must see, exhibits that help people understand what Astronaut's insure while in space, plus what lies ahead in our space future. Would highly recommend this site to behold.

We've been here multiple times, so today we just went to the gift shop. It's always a fun visit. A very interesting thing right at the entrance is the group of planet signs as you walk in: Right near the parking lot is the planet Uranus; as you get closer to the entrance you see the other planets in order getting closer and closer together. If you look back towards the parking lot you'll see that about halfway between the sign for Uranus and the building that houses space camp is the sign for the planet Neptune, and way down close to space camp is the little dwarf planet Pluto. It's an ingenious way of showing the distance between the planets.

What a cool and fun place! We spent over 5 hours here and did not get bored at all. There is so much interesting history to explore and learn from at the Space and Rocket Center. The kids were very entertained the whole time as well which was great. We did the planetarium and would highly recommend doing that as well. It was so cool and informative. The Saturn V out front is a fabricated replica of the one inside and is so huge when standing under it. The one inside is the real deal and shows all the engines and more of the "inner workings". Overall I would highly recommend going here! This was a day and money well spent!

We had such a fun time there today. Neither did I expect to sit on a space toilet nor to lie in a rocket capsule. There are many hands-on things, and the property is large and filled with interesting information. Very cool place for adults and kids. It's worth a trip.

Great new experience for our family. Our kids learned so much without even realizing it! Tons of people there, but you can't tell except for when you're buying tickets. Awesome experience. It has lots of information, they are completely covid friendly. Hand sanitizer located many places. A few attractions are closed as far as the little kids go. The Saturn V is the main attraction open, as well as shows going in the intuitive planetarium. Would reccomend for anyone to go thru. Learned a lot and got lots of good up close interactions with rockets.

Incredible. I’ve been to Johnson and Kennedy and this place beats even their high standards. Their displays are a fascinating insight into the Saturn V rocket, so much better than the Kennedy Center ( which is a must see as well) The staff are a credit to the organisation. From Linda in the gift shop to Ron the Docent they really make you welcome. You have to do the movies too, the Planetarium and the Nat Geo theatre and even the incredible VR Apollo 11 experience. Don’t miss this place!!

  • 5/5 Ryan S. 3 years ago on Google
This is a great place for anyone who loves rocketry and space related history. The museum rivals the Kennedy Space Center in space exploration artifacts. The outside has a large display of various rockets used throughout the early years of the space race. This is also where Space Camp is held. Due to Covid-19 they were not having any bus tours which was a disappointment. When I went they were also in the middle of some exhibit construction as well as the Pathfinder space shuttle restoration. However, there are other activities to do such as the planetarium. The admission fee is $25 which is fairly reasonable for what you get.
