Great place to go in Hutchinson. Interior is unique. It has been a staple downtown since '77. The staff was attentive. They have buffet Wed-Sat for a reasonable price. Tamales and rice are decent, and I enjoy their tortillas. It's buffet food so don't set your expectations too high. If you order off the menu I feel like the quality is a little better. Good place to hit the bar and watch the game. They also have room for larger parties and events. I'll upgrade to five stars once the restroom facilities get a little more cleaning attention. Consistently good experiences.

Very dissapointed. Flour chips (not corn), most are folded in half (should be flat) and cost extra. Refried beans were way to salty to eat. Onions and peppers were raw and not diced for the fajitas, should have come out sizzling on a sizzling hot plate. How is this place open?

While the Anchor Inn restaurant shows up on many lists as one of the best places to eat in this part of Kansas every time I go there I am disappointed by their buffet. Maybe it's a mental block, but it's odd to go to a restaurant that's largely famous for their buffet and order off the menu. However if you're a new visitor to this restaurant I think that's the best choice is to order off the menu. The buffet choices are underwhelming. The food has been dried out and not very tasty the last couple times I've been there. The service is what you would expect in a busy open room concept...it's hurried and not very attentive. If I'm in the Hutchinson area I I'm going to think twice before I recommend that we go to the Anchor Inn again.

To be honest the most realistic review I could leave is meh. Meh food...meh service...meh desserts. Meh. But it has lots of character and atmosphere much like cheers where everybody knows your name. That’s why it is a place where a ton of people go. The buffet is a decent price for a lot of food it’s just not something I would go out of my way to eat if not for the ambiance. Locally owned.

We were at the Kansas State Fair for the day. Stopped in and had AMAZING food & service! It was great to meet & chat with the owner. We’ll definitely be back! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Did not enjoy the food at all. We have had authentic Mexican food and this was not it. The buffet food was either very bland or very salty. Heard staff talking about "watch to see how much she eats while they are sitting here." Didn't say it quietly either. Will not be back.

Good buffet with lots of options, hard tacos, soft tacos, Tostadas, enchiladas, beans, rice, fried potatoes, large salad / dessert bar too.

Tried the buffet. Have heard nothing but good things about this restaurant. But I was not impressed. The buffet was limited. The food was very bland. The desserts on the buffet were extra but placed in the same area. 🤷‍♀️ First time and last time eating here. Spent around $45 with tip. Twice what I typically spend at other places in town with comparable food.

Very nice Mexican restaurant in the downtown area.. If you're hungry, this is the place for you with their buffet!!! Only real drawback for me personally was it was very hard to carry on a conversation with others in our party in the main, open dining room as the noise from all of the other customers was very loud...suggest you request being seated in the adjacent room if this is an issue for you as well..

I have heard this is a staple in Hutch and I was not impressed. I have been eating my way around hutchinson and this was probably the largest disappointment. Ordered the buffet. Limited options. Very bland flavor. Spend $40+ on lunch. Not worth the price.

first time here .been to hutch many times and never knew this place was here. aweonevis all I can say. the oldish atmosphere is very nice . the food was awesome on the buffet was all fresh and tasty. Outstanding friendly service. a diamond in the rough for sure!!

The Absolute Best! My wife & I love to take a trip from Wichita to Hutchinson when we want the very best Mexican restaurant in the state. I highly recommend Anchor Inn any time you are in Hutchinson, KS.

We drive from NW KS as often as we can just to eat here. It's a 3 hrs drive for us. Greg and staff are just great people and their food is pretty darn good as well.

The buffet was great & they accommodated our large group after a funeral service with ease. Carol rocked it with a smile and was very attentive to all of us.

I happen to be in Hutchinson, so I thought I would give Anchor Inn a try. The bathroom is right by where you eat. Chips and salsa are not complimentary but extra charge. Food is okay but not much flavor. The waitress asked if I was going to leave a tip when she rang up my bill, which I thought was rude when I had already left cash on the table. Not sure how/why this is so many people's favorite place to eat.

We have Always Had Excellent Food, Great Service and The Owners are Super People..It is A Must Eat Restaurant..

First time visitors to this neat Mexican Buffet. That's right, it's a MEXICAN food buffet!! Who's heard of that?? We were pleasantly surprised and enjoy a wide variety of Mexican foods. The containers of food were huge and filled to the top. I was able to eat dairy free without going through the hassle of explaining it to the wait staff. Be met friends here that have been coming here for years. They told us they'd never had anything but Great Food at the Anchor Inn and we experienced the same thing today. Our thanks go to the family who owns this gem of a restaurant!! We'll be back!!!!

This place is always Fire! The food is fresh and authentic. Most authentic Mexican buffet you'll see around d these parts! I go there every chance I get!

If you're a Hutch native, you get it. The Anchor is just the place to be for great Mexican food. Friendly staff, a huge lunch buffet, the best homemade chips and salsa and a festive atmosphere is what has made the Anchor, an anchor in our town for decades.

For a Mexican Buffet, food was good and plentiful. Staff was friendly and attentive. Clean buffet and eating areas.

They were very accommodating to our party. The only reason not 5 stars it that the waitress never got us refills or chips or anything, other than initial drink order.

The service was okay. But as a Hispanic myself I was very disappointed with how inauthentic the food was. The queso was literally store brought tortilla chips, covered in shredded cheddar cheese and tasted like it was popped in the microwave. The burrito was fine but the rest of the food tasted reheated and was not good.

Food quantities were plentiful. Chips were not what you would expect if you are comparing to a corn tortilla chip. I ordered a full Nacho; it was tasty and filling for my wife and I. The Fajitasi ordered came on a large plate. The seasoning was too thick on the meat (BEEF), and overpowered the dish. The tortillas were more like a chalupa shell. Where I would expect a corn or thin flour Tortilla. Service was good, and people polite.

This is my favorite Mexican food restaurant of all time! Their food is authentic, and AMAZING!! And our server was excellent and very funny. It's only been one day since I are there, but I'm ready to eat there again!

Good Mexican buffet. Never been to a Mexican buffet before, but I would go again. It was super busy, so it took quite a while to get a table, but once we did we were able to jump right in to the buffet and it was tasty. There was a bit of a negative vibe from some of the staff yelling at each other which didn't really set an amazing tone, but overall me and my family really liked it.

This is probably my favorite Mexican restaurant. It's just like being in my families kitchen. The food is fantastic and there's plenty of it. When we're in Hutch, the Anchor Inn is where we always go. You can either have the buffet or order off the menu. Either way you can't go wrong. Keep up the great cooking Anchor Inn.

This is a solid restaurant in Hutchinson and is a staple to the town, Fun the price the food is very good and authentic to it's Mexican heritage. The only issue I have with this restaurant is that the meat is very bland, other than that little issue its very good

Wednesday-Saturday buffet and the service are on point. Enchiladas, spicy pork, and guaca-moooooley are delicious. Put the cheese sauce (found at the end of the buffet on the NE corner) on the cheese enchiladas.

We didn't realize they opened at 5 but they allowed us in at 4 to eat. Overall the food was good with the exception of the beans. We also found out the buffet isn't open on Tuesdays

Kansas Jewell I've gone to the Anchor Inn when in Hutch for years. Lots of terrific food including many you just can't get at very many Mexican restaurants. Quality & Atmosphere - Very Good

We visited the Anchor Inn for our date night, and it did not disappoint! The restaurant is located in one of the original vintage buildings. It is huge. They have 2 bars and a buffet and lots of seating. Our waitress was amazing and attentive. Our food came out fast and exactly how we ordered it. It was hot and delicious. The restaurant is clean and well organized. We will be back :)
