Someone told us to try their chef salad because Skaets has the best salad in town. So we ordered to-go and they were very good. They are your basic iceberg lettuce with tomatoes, eggs, onions, cheese and meat. I would definitely recommend going here if you want a salad that isn’t overpriced or filled with different kinds of lettuce. We also ordered a chicken fried steak meal and a short stack of hot cakes. All very good!

Eat like a local! This iconic restaurant is great for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Try their pancake recipe that is unchanged since the 1960's. If you are there during lunch or dinner then the Moon Burger should be on your list. Say hello to the proprietors, Karen or Donna, while you are there.

What a great place, my favorite restaurant in Kansas. Warm, friendly staff and great food and atmosphere. Our waitress was just awesome and so was everyone else. Coffee was hot and fresh, plenty of it. If I lived in Hutch, I would eat three meals a day here. We will be back, thank you!

Pancakes and french toast were great. Biscuits and gravy were great. Service excellent. Very hometown, locals place. No frills. You can watch them cook from the bar, no secrets. Real ingredients. Reasonable prices. What more could you ask for? America runs on places like Skaets. Okay, one thing I could ask for: fresh squeezed orange juice!

We had a fantastic breakfast and very fresh coffee. Waitress was so wonderful keeping cups refilled and getting anything needed. We will be eating here often. We told all our friends and they went there after us and thanked us for letting them Know about this hidden gem!

Food was amazing! Service was even better! Our drinks never got half drunk before we were asked if we wanted refills. Here in KCK, that's rare. We usually have to hunt down a server for a refill. My daughter said she wants to move to Hutchinson because the people are so much nicer there. Skaet's was recommended by a Facebook group when I was planning our trip, and they did not disappoint.

If you are trying to find that hole in the wall Cafe, this is your place. I normally order the same food over and over. Here I order different things and it is always so so good. Love Skaets!!!

I've read a lot of reviews about the chicken fried steak. It is a good one. Looking forward to trying breakfast items next time.

A great place to get an old fashioned burger! And their fresh cut fries around point!

My first job was working here when I was 14 years old. Nothing has really changed. The atmosphere is the same, price goes up like always but the atmosphere is going to go back for !

While visiting family in Hutchinson, Kansas, we were taken to this restaurant for dinner. It’s small and crowded but the service was very good. I had a Triple Decker Club sandwich, it was loaded with roasted turkey, bacon, ham, tomato, avocado, provolone cheese, lettuce and I chose roasted potatoes over French fries, it was delicious and I couldn’t eat it all! My husband had a veggie omelette, nothing to write home about, he wasn’t disappointed but it wasn’t great!

Well don’t come over. After an hour of waiting food is not done yet. Left without eating. Then I called to talk to the manager and the guy who answered the phone told me Karen was busy cooking. I left a message. Worst experience ever.

It was good food. Meatloaf had more ketchup then I like but some people like a lot of ketchup on their meatloaf. Green beans were so yummy!! The servers were friendly and the prices are perfect, not too expensive. I give the atmosphere 4 stars because it's a very small place but it's very clean. I would definitely eat there again if in the area. Overall it's a pretty good little place to eat.

The food and service was awesome. Our waitress took very good care of us. It wasn't that busy when we went, but there were times when we went that it was busy. It's worth the wait every time

Love the menu item Strawberry French Toast. Owner Karen had asked several years ago "Are there any items you would like to see on the menu" so I suggested the strawberry French toast. It stayed on the main menu. We just love Skaets been going there for 30+ years.

Love this place! Always go here for lunch when I'm in town for a job. Staff is amazing and the food is to die for. It's usually fairly busy during lunch and the wait for food is longer than usual, but it's totally worth it.

Skaets has a great menu variety and serves breakfast all day. They have daily specials that have their own followers. They are known for the "Moon Burger," but honestly, there isn't anything on the menu that wouldn't please the taste buds.

Very nice & Cozy. Husband's salad & hamburger steak was perfectly cooked. My hash browns with eggs, sausage & toast were just as I ordered them. We will eat here again!

I’m a HUUUUGE breakfast person. This place beats EVERYWHERE ELSE I’ve been to throughout the United States. I would order too much and just eat as much as o could because it was literally that good. Eggs always cooked perfectly.. French toast was my favorite.. bacon and sausage was ALWAYS on point and the coffee was the icing on the cake.

On a Saturday morning, it was full! But well worth the wait. A nice place for every day encounters! The biscuits were especially soft , and good!

While the place is a bit cramped and the number of people there makes it uncomfortable for an introvert like me who doesn't like crowds, the food and the friendliness make it easy to deal with the number of people. Fresh food made to order, homemade french fries that are so good!! It isn't super fast, but you see the food being prepared fresh, so worth the wait. Try a Moon burger. Yum!

Waitresses are so nice,they always go the extra mile to make sure you are taken care of. Our favorite one is Bobby, she is always smiling!! Food is delicious and the prices are reasonable. We give an A+ to Skaets Restaurant.

We love Skaets for the delicious breakfast (like french toast or biscuits and gravy) and lunch, the Moon burger is terrific. Or the meatloaf. Or anything, really. The owners and staff are so nice and the customers are all in their happy spot, just like me!

Food Safety. If this is an issue dont sit and watch the cooks. No hair or beard covers. Didnt change gloves after touching meat before touching or other items. Then was touching food barehanded and not washing. That being said... the food was exceptional. Love the burgers and fries.

Food is good as can be expected for a mom and pop cafe. The service is ok could be better tho. Called ahead to make reservations but they do. It accept reservations. When we got there from driving from Salina for Mother’s Day we had to stand for 15-20 minutes. No big deal unless you got someone that can’t stand for a long period of time, there is no waiting area as this is a small cafe

It is a Wednesday evening, no specials, and it is packed. There are the regulars and maybe some like me who is reliving a time when I would come here as a kid as part of going to the State Fair. The service is good, but what can you expect with a packed place. I sat at the counter and watched them do their magic. It is there to see. Whether you "Moon it" or just get a breakfast at any time they are open, Or treat yourself to a steak, you probably can't go wrong I would come back here any time to enjoy it.

Not a bad little diner at all. My first time here and the good and service were both very good. They offer the full menu all day which is really nice and the staff was courteous and right on top of refills. The food came out in a proper made-from-scratch time and was hot and very tasty, exactly as ordered.

The food is delicious and I'm a regular there, but after this last time I don't know if I'm going back. I've found hair in my food multiple times, and this time when I finally brought the issue up to the staff. she kinda shrugged it off but told me I'd be getting a discount. When I went to go pay for my 22 dollar meal they applied a 1 or 2 dollar discount. Great food but service could use some work.
