I loved it! It was a travel back in time with antiques telling one amazing story after another. Krishnamurthy Garu is truly a walking encyclopaedia whose knowledge and passion for cultural antiquity is worth an applause. YK Antiques Home Museum is a must visit for those who love heritage and want to learn more about it. It is also recommended to those who are not that keen but I can assure you that you will fall in love with antique when you walk into the museum

An amazing museum to visit. Thankyou so much for your time and space Mr YK sir the visit enhanced our learning journey and also our DRSIS PYP 1 learner’s reflected upon their understanding. The field trip turned out to be a great understanding for how the transformation happens from time to time, the ways people adapt change and know about different things people used in olden times. Keep up with the good work I appreciate your interest.. πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»

Hiding in one of the many quiet colonies of Secunderabad, YK Antiques is a gem of a place for people of all ages. Mr. YK Murthy, the curator of this place, has turned his home into a museum with such dedication, interest and care, that it shows from the second you step foot inside. It's a whole new world! My family and I spent about 2 hours in the evening and still fell short of time with so many more stories to hear about all the different collections. There were items ranging from as small as spoons to as big as full-fledged furniture that easily go back 200 years! Every antique inside, projected 3 main aspects of all creations of the time - Utility, Durability & Beauty, even in something as small as an Agarbatti stand. More importantly, a visit to this place, (irrespective of whether or not history and culture interest you) will leave you with an inspiration to be more mindful about what and how you consume; and also with a deep appreciation for Indian culture and the ideology of our ancestors who found ways to incorporate the goodness of the Earth elements into their daily life through utensils designed specifically for different kinds of food. You'll learn a lot in one visit! My favorite corner of the museum was a mini Threshold curtain-decoration made of rice husk stitched beautifully for a door that was put together with block designs on wood. Highly recommend YK Antiques for your next outing!! Do not miss this one.

Truly amazed by the wonderful collection of antiques that YK sir has collected over the years. He had turned his house into a cozy home museum which takes you back in time the minute you step in. It's my fourth visit here, and every time I visit, I notice new additions to the collection and YK sir enthusiastically explains about them. Maintaining and running something like this is no easy task and hats off to YK sir and the team who maintain the place and are generous to keep it open to public. I would suggest that you book an appointment well in advance for a smooth experience and be prepared to spend a minimum of two hours to see and experience the collection of antiques. This home museum is barely 1.5 kilometres/5 minutes away from Rashtrapati Nilayam (official retreat of the President of India) which is now open to visitors throughout the year. One can do a combined visit of Rashtrapati Nilayam and YK Antiques Home Museum for a day well spent on this side of Secunderabad.

They say materials hold memories and stories. If you want to experience a way of everyday life that your grandparents lived , YK Antiques Home Museum would be a dream visit. They say food is how families and communities express love and celebrate culture. It's an automatic deduction that the vessels we use to cook play a very important role in this. While YK Antiques is home to many antique pieces, it is primarily a homage to food and the way it was prepared, cooked, carried and preserved. For those reverting to traditional cooking vessels and methods, YK Antiques leads the way in educating and enabling people in this. Mr. Murthy is a passionate antiques collector, a storyteller who chronicles the memories of each item in his heart and his head. We are so thankful to him for his interest and the time he took in sharing hos passion with us.

This is my second visit to the home museum. I came across this beautiful place through a friend. The moment I entered the house I was just awestruck looking at each and every wall filled with beautiful antiques. The most exciting part of my visit was hearing to the stories of each antique from the collector himself, Mr. YK. He is 81 years old but his energy is amazing. The stories shared by Mr YK brings life to the space and one can find a lot of positivity when they are surrounded with these antiques. It's such a beautiful space, I recommend everyone to visit the home museum and get to know more about our history, tradition and culture.

My first home museum visit: It was a juncture when I was wrapped with negativity of life and happened to meet a friend who then introduced me to this amazing world of antiques and the lead man behind the antiques who we all fondly call YK sir. It was in one his exhibition when I first met him and listened to his stories on his collection of brass, copper and silver generation old antique items from different countries all over the world. I remember he told me, β€œHere all the items you see and touch will tell you unique stories” that made me teleport to a different world totally within a fraction of seconds. Yes, I felt the power of positivity from this old man who is very young at heart, mind and soul. My second visit to his home drew me more towards him and his energy. His love for each item, the warmth in the house, the walls so beautifully decorated with his collections, even his little green porch has so much peace that mesmerized me. There is so much to learn about life from him. His passion is something that keeps the place brimming with warmth just like his filter coffee made in brass filter coffee maker and served in brass glasses. The traditional authentic one. I highly recommend this place to those who loves tradition, who has passion, who loves to hear stories, who loves art and who loves life to visit and imbibe the energy and get enriched. It’s a must visit when you are in Hyderabad- the city of Nizams.

as a Hyderabad resident, one of the best places visited so far. I took my grandma along and looking at all those cultural antiques she got emotional and started reminiscing her childhood days. she even came home and called our relatives to tell them about this place! I came to know about this place through a friend. Honestly a day spent well. Mr.YK even takes time explains the usage and significance of each and every item and the story behind them. I truly admire his passion. He even curated a cook book of recipes written by his sister (akka chethi vanta) of traditional homely food. Definitely worth buying. Truly connects us to our roots!

Visited this place with my daughter through a close friend of mine. The moment I entered the house I felt like we were in a totally different world. Every inch of the house is beautifully and artistically decorated with all antique and rare items. The visit really brightened my day. Loved this place very much. A must place to visit in Hyderabad.

YK Sir patiently took us through all the antiques we were intrigued by over a patient span of 2 hours. The space is history in a home. Thank you for taking us through the material and aesthetic life of ordinary objects, kept carefully and lovingly :)

Must visit. Don’t think twice, take two hours out and go there. :) I had visited this museum last month, heard about it from a friend. Absolutely marvellous collection of antiques, meticulously collected and elegantly displayed. In part it was a nostalgia trip, remembering many implements and utensils from my childhood. In another part, it was incredibly informative and inspiring - so many surprising, delightful nuggets of knowledge, ideas and design that I was exposed to. And finally, above all, YK Uncle’s sheer dedication in collecting the artefacts over the years, his patient explanation, and the beautiful dynamic with the volunteer team - just beautiful. Thank you for the wonderful visit!

A beautiful setup amidst the hustle of a busy city life. It's a unique experience, entering what seems like an ordinary neighborhood, only to discover a home museum. I had never been aware of the concept, but seeing those vintage utensils and listening to YK sir's narration was eye-opening. As a designer, I gained many new perspectives on preserving our roots. It's not just visually pleasing, the experience with YK sir is sure to leave a lasting impression on your heart.

Stepping into YK home museum was like entering a time capsule of forgotten treasures. Each piece whispered stories of bygone eras, from handmade brass utensils to intricately carved delicate miniature figurines. The air was thick with the scent of history, and every corner held a new discovery waiting to be unearthed. As I wandered among the artifacts, I felt a profound connection to the past, marveling at the craftsmanship and imagining the lives of those who once owned these objects. It was a journey through time that left me in awe of the beauty and resilience of the human spirit across generations.

I had heard about Mr YK's home museum a long time ago from a friend Vinay who helps in managing the place and so my partner and I finally got down to making a visit. Having visited the place, I only regret that I had taken so long to actually go there. The museum is a collection of over 850 antique artifacts including various types of utensils and other functional items that give us a glimpse into how our ancestors lived about a century or two ago. Each artifact fulfills three essential requirements: Functionality, Durability and Aesthetic. Something that a lot of our modern day items sorely lack. I learnt a lot during our short visit that I never knew or imagined about the correct and scientific way of simple tasks such as preparing rice or dal. There is sooo much more to learn that isn't possible in just one short visit and so I shall be visiting again multiple times in the future. Mr YK, who has painstakingly collected all the artifacts over decades and converted his home into a museum is a gem of a gentleman. Kindly, energetic and exuding delight as he narrates the story of each item that we express interest in. I would totally recommend this to anyone who is curious about the forgotten ways of our ancestors and some of us may even recollect a few nostalgic memories of our grandparents or great grandparents preparing us a meal in utensils just like the ones on display.

Lovely little museum in a quiet residential area, private collection by a very well spoken gentleman that will be happy to explain the origins to you. The displays are super well designed and fascinating to see. My grandfather loved seeing all the old vessels and cooking implements. My favorite part was the display of the utensils on the rise of the stairs! Would visit again

A small, humble home that you'll leave with an even more humbling experience. Mr. YK's collection of traditional yesteryear cookware, and other daily use items that are now unfortunately but aptly 'antiques' - are memoirs of a bygone era that will strike all the right nostalgia chords with you. Such, that you'll not reminisce what's gone, but wonder how simple things can spark the most cherishing conversations and memories - which is also the genesis of how this 'home museum' came to be. A tale, best served by the gentle host himself! :)

My experience at YK Antiques Home Museum has been thoroughly enriching. It is a house of treasures filled with antiques. When first visited I was deeply moved to see the vast storehouse of ancient antique collection. It is a house of knowledge that makes us aware of the history, lifestyle and art. Krishnamurthy sir, who is a personal collector and owns the museum is such a inspiring person and his stories give us behind-the-scenes look into childhood which is so interesting. I would truly recommend trying out the museum if you are interested in antique artefacts from our past. Definitely it leaves a lingering impression on our mind.

Had met Mr YK Murthy at his home museum last weekend, extraordinary man who at the age of 80, still has the zeal and passion of collecting antiques. Most of his collections are sourced from known families directly and many other from his travels around the country, Every piece has an intriguing tale, beautifully described about its origin and its uses. His hospitality and his love for story telling is commendable. Living in the city for all these years, had no idea he lives close by in lothkunta, do drop him a visit.

This Museum stands as the pride of India after the Vechaar Museum of Ahmedabad. Sir Y K Murthy felt these antiques had stories to tell for generations to come. Stories on how their ancestors lived, how they cooked, and how they fed their families. Out of this compassion to preserve those wonderful storytelling artifacts. He began collecting such vessels one by one for years. When I visited him for the first time and was leaving, he said you can stay as long as you like, there is help to prepare food for you. I felt like one of the family here because that was such a warm and welcoming feeling. I strongly recommend this place and talk to Sir, experience of history is what really matters for a bigger change in all forms.

We visited the amazing museum, a personal collection of antiques owned and gracefully maintained by Mr.Murthy in his prime 80's!! It takes you to a time machine, moving you in throughout traditional, cultural, ancient rich India. The Hyderabad tourism is incomplete without visiting this musium and charming Mr. Murthy.

We had a great time visiting this museum set up in Krishnamurthy's beautiful home. His dedication to collecting and preserving these antique artifacts over many decades is inspiring. It was a pleasure to get to see the countless heritage pieces that have been lovingly arranged, and the stories about them and demonstrations of how they work made it more engaging and meaningful. As Krishnamurthy explained, old household items had to serve a function, had to last for generations, and had to be beautiful, traits that contrast the disposable nature of much of what we purchase today. Everything from the cooking vessels to the travel-friendly water bottles to the furniture to the paan containers was fascinating and visually appealing. I recommend a visit here to embrace the great heritage of India and beyond.
