I
am
not
one
to
leave
reviews
much,
if
ever.
But
I
had
to
mention
my
experience
here.
My
family
has
this
long
standing
tradition
on
New
Years
Eve—it
started
when
I
was
very
little
(I'm
30
now).
Every
New
Year’s
Eve,
my
parents
book
a
hotel
room
with
a
common
room
and
a
24-hour
pool.
On
NYEve,
we
play
games
in
the
hotel’s
common
area
until
about
15-30
minutes
prior,
when
we
head
to
the
pool.
We
talk
about
our
goals
for
the
next
year,
and
at
the
stroke
of
midnight,
we
say
out
loud
what
our
most
important
goal
is
as
we
jump
into
the
pool—(as
if
to
solidify
the
goal).
It’s
a
silly
but
fun
family
tradition.
I
was
particularly
excited
for
this
year,
as
it
was
the
first
year
my
wife
would
be
able
to
be
part
of
our
family
tradition.
We
called
around
to
see
what
hotel
could
fit
these
needs,
and
decided
upon
the
Best
Western
CottonTree
Inn
in
Idaho
Falls.
Over
the
phone,
we
stressed
the
need
for
a
common
area
for
our
family’s
games
and
a
24-hour
pool.
We
were
assured
by
the
staff
that
they
had
what
we
were
looking
for,
so
we
booked
2
rooms.
Perfect.
My
parents
checked
in
without
a
problem;
even
telling
the
front
desk
clerk
of
our
plans.
She
seemed
genuinely
excited
and
they
told
her
we
would
even
share
our
treats.
Around
6pm
we
gathered
in
the
common
area
and
started
playing
games.
They
weren’t
loud
games,
just
board
games.
Everyone
was
having
good
family
time.
Around
10:30pm
I
left
for
the
store
to
get
a
few
things.
While
I
was
gone,
I
got
a
call
from
my
wife.
Upset,
she
tells
me
that
they
are
closing
down
the
common
area
and
pool,
and
kicking
everyone
out
of
those
areas.
When
I
pulled
back
into
the
hotel
and
came
through
the
lobby
doors,
I
saw
several
frustrated
families,
probably
wondering
the
same
things
we
were.
I
started
asking
around
about
who
I
needed
to
talk
to
to
help
clear
up
this
misunderstanding.
I
was
directed
to
speak
and
deal
with
ALICE.
When
I
approached
her
about
this
obvious
misunderstanding,
and
explained
that
we
had
double
checked
before
booking
and
was
assured
that
the
common
area
and
pool
would
be
open
to
accommodate
our
plans.
I
asked
ALICE
if
the
reason
why
both
areas
were
to
be
closed
was
because
of
any
safety
issues
(broken
glass,
bodily
fluids,
security
issues
etc).
ALICE’s
answer
shocked
us.
Her
LITERAL
reason
was
because
she
did
not
want
to
“deal
with
it.”
I
stated
again
what
my
family
had
done
to
select
this
place,
and
mentioned
that
a
24hr
pool/common
area
was
even
listed
on
the
company
website.
ALICE
responded
with
something
to
the
effect
of
“Well,
I
wasn't
the
one
here
at
that
time,
and
I
did
not
agree
to
that."
I
asked
ALICE
if
there
was
anyone
else
we
could
talk
to.
She
ignored
my
request.
So
ALICE
and
I
kept
talking,
and
I
pleaded
with
her
to
work
out
something.
She
finally
“agreed”
to
open
the
pool
again
a
couple
minutes
before
midnight,
until
a
couple
minutes
after
midnight
(Gosh,
THANKS).
She
absolutely
knew
of
our
family’s
traditions.
She
just
kept
shrugging
her
shoulders
and
saying
that
it
wasn’t
her
problem,
and
just
repeated
to
us
over
and
over
that
she
was
not
here
during
the
“original
conversations,”
therefore
they
are
not
her
problem
to
uphold.
I
tried
so
hard
to
calmly
and
kindly
express
to
her
our
frustrations,
which
fell
of
deaf
ears.
Every
time
I
mentioned
my
frustrations,
I
was
met
with
more
and
more
excuses.
This
whole
experience
was
disheartening.
My
family,
new
wife
and
I
just
wanted
to
have
a
fun
filled,
relaxed
New
Year’s
celebration,
and
because
ALICE
didn’t
want
to
“deal
with”
her
job,
we
all
got
robbed
of
our
celebration.
We
have
written
letters
locally
and
to
corporate,
with
no
response.
I
am
again,
not
one
to
normally
write
a
review,
but
this
whole
experience
has
made
it
that
I
will
tell
everyone
and
anyone
that
will
listen,
to
not
ever
stay
at
this
line
of
hotels.
My
whole
family
will
not
ever
stay
here
again
