The best hitsumabushi (eel bowl) I ever had. This place just recently opened, so there’s a long line before lunch time. But the wai is absolutely worth it. The unagi is grilled at a very high temperature which makes the outer part of the eel broiled crispy together with the sweet awesome sauce makes it a worth while trip in nagoya. Hitsumaboshi has 3 ways of eating, first is eat it without any toppings. Second way is to put in garnishing such as spring onions, wasabi and nori (sea weed) and third is put the topping and add soup broth into the bowl. The japanese pepper is using freshly grinded spice which is rare in any restaurant. Higy recommended! Looking forward to visiting again.

Great eel restaurant. I tried many eel but this was pretty good restaurant. But staff were not attentive nor friendly. I had to ask to change a cup because it smelled terrible. Other than that the food was great.

A 5-star place with amazing Japanese unagi (eel). Why do people rated with less than 4.5? No idea. I give it a high 4.8 - 4.9 Staff does not speak English ! So be prepared to have some Japanese lines or questions handy before you come to the restaurant.

Delicious hitsumabushi (eel on rice). Reasonable price and it wasn’t too busy - sadly, due to covid. Service was good and fast. But the biggest surprise was the low cost and quality of some daily side dishes like a whole fried fish. Kids hated the eel but loved the sides.

Thoroughly enjoyed the hitsumabushi set (added grilled eel liver) - unagi was well-charred and crispy on the outside and tender in. Hard to decide which method I prefer, as they were all good. No crowd around 1.10pm.

The best unagi don we’ve ever had! Caution, there might be a very long line so if you can, come when they’ve just opened or reserve in advance.

This is actually a second visit to the restaurant, suitable for business, friends union, and even by yourself. I like the way they grilled the unagi, that added more flavor to the smell, and the appetizers cucumber, amazing!!

An eel restaurant located in "Misunoza", a long-established theater in Nagoya. Hitsumabushi, a Nagoya specialty, is delicious. The menu other than eel dishes is also recommended.

Popular hitsumabushi place on Nagoya. Must try Aliittle expensive but is very filling . We could not finish the rice. Rice was very delicious nonetheless. Recommended spot. No waiting time when we went in , which is a good thing 👍🏻

Great serving of eel rice !!! There was no queue and we were seated immediately. There was English menu. Good atmosphere tho the tables were placed rather closely together. It was such a delight to find a “hidden” piece of eel buried under the rice! Such a surprise! Totally recommend

Excellent eel rice I have eaten in Nagoya. I booked the table via tablelog and this helps me to avoid waiting the long queue. Service is good and staff can be communicated with English. The dining environment is a bit noisy however.

APRIL 2023 Had the large size Hitsumabushi which is to be enjoyed in three ways; as is, with toppings, and with the dashi broth. Portion size was massive with so much unagi, even with the normal size I think it will be plenty. Unagi was soft and grilled perfectly with enough sauce soaked into the rice, simply delicious. Service was friendly and attentive with free refills of green tea and pickled vegetables.

A great place to try hitsumabushi, a Nagoya speciality. Unless you're very wealthy, it's probably somewhere reserved for special occasions, but you get what you pay for. If I come back I'd like to try the hitsumabushi with liver added - I couldn't quite justify the difference in price this time around. Make a reservation if you can, or be prepared to line up. Card payments accepted.

Excellent eel rice! Although they have menu in different languages, the staff really cant speak foreign language than Japanese. Thanks Google translate, i simply give the phone to staff and let them type and translate.

Amazing hitsumabushi experience with traditional private dining rooms. The eel had a perfect texture, nice and crispy on the outside and soft juicy on the inside. Would definitely recommend eating it all 4 ways however spring onions and wasabi definitely stood out the most. A little bit on the pricey side but definitely worth it

One of the best Unagi (freshwater eel) restaurants. Western-Japan style. Haven't seen this big Unagi and its Kimo (gut). Highly recommended!
