We stayed here for one night while walking on the Kumano Kodo. This is an excellent guesthouse with two great hosts serving amazing food. We got a really warm welcome on arrival and the room was very nice. Big and clean. The highlights were the excellent meals for breakfast and dinner. Traditional Japanese food and full of flavour. Nice bath to relax in also Highly recommend staying here for a night or two, either while hiking or just to relax.

I had a wonderful time at this guesthouse run by a really nice couple. The meals I was served were probably the best I’ve had in Japan. My room was clean and also very comfortable. It was a great way to relax after a long hike along the Kumano Kodo trail.

Thank you so much for a wonderful stay. Your home was very comfortable after a long day walking. The meals your wife and you prepared were outstanding, some of the best ever, anywhere. Cute goats too!

So nice to stay here after a whole day of hiking. The dinner and breakfast are super nice! The bed was very comfortable! I just couldn't believe I was in the mountain then. On top of that, the hosts are friendly and welcoming. More than five stars certainly!

We were served excellent Japanese 'home' food with lots of fresh vegetables, home-made plum wine and sorbet (healthy but delicious!), it's a clean and spacious house, the owners were very friendly and we got to feed their adorable pet goat called Haru. It was the best hotel out of all the ones we stayed in Kumano Kodo! Thank you so much and I wish you all the success for this pretty guest house. :)

After a day-long challenging hike, we were treated as dear guests and brought to life by Miyahara-san family !!! Genuine hospitality of the hosts, welcoming cup of tea once entered the House, squeaky-clean and fresh-aired room, amazingly comfortable futon, delicious dinner and breakfast… (bread is must have to eat)! So happy that we could book a place here during our Kumano-kodo trek! Thank you for such a warm treat!

Absolutely wonderful stay! Gorgeous scenery, friendly goats, a relaxing, cozy interior, and the food was gourmet restaurant-worthy. Seriously, it doesn't get better than this!

Friendly owners, delicious food cute goats and a relaxing environment, guest house MUI totally blew us away. We enjoyed a very relaxing stay after a long day spent trekking through the mountains. You have to try the freshly baked bread in the morning - it was so good we ate all of it! I'll highly recommend Guesthouse MUI and would gladly book another stay at Masanari san and Kumi san

Walking the Kumano Kodo was worth it just so I could eat this amazing food at the end of the day and share a roof with amazing people. And then in the morning treat yourself with some just out of the oven bread. Don't forget to to order the bento box, you won't regret it. Oh and the goats are lovely too!

The best food on the Kumano Kodo! Guest House Mui is a quaint stop on the Nakahechi Route with 2 lovely owners and 2 lovely goats! From check in you are made to feel very welcome and comfortable there. The dinner, breakfast and bento were all outstanding; the dinner there was easily the best out of my 5 nights on the route. Guest House Mui has a great atmosphere and I'd love to stay there again!

I was lucky to stay for one night at MUI and probably it was the best accommodation I stayed in my 6 day Kumano Kodo hike. The room is big and beautiful, the owners are friendly and super helpful and the food... well the food is simply from another galaxy, both dinner and breakfast. Thank you MUI for your hard work, it makes the hike something else.

One of the best places we stayed along the Kumano Kodo trail. The owners took good care of us and we had the most delicious home cooked food made with much love and care, all with local seasonal ingredients. They helped us to send our heavy belongings forward and prepared the best bento lunch we had during the whole trip.

The most charming experience at any Japanese accommodation I’ve had so far. I was so blessed to have stayed here. I had an incredible hot bath, was fed delicious homemade food, was given the best packed lunch of my life, and felt so welcome by this sweet couple. Thank you for the smiles, Mui Guest House!

A fantastic small guesthouse on the Kumano Kodo trail. Wonderful hosts - friendly, very helpful with information about the hike and made us very comfortable. The bedroom was cosy, and the food was AMAZING! Best food we have had in Japan, and the lunchbox was perfect for the next day! Thank you so much for having us at your home 😊

👍👍 We swing by this cafe but it was more than we expected. Food and drinks were good and we could get useful information for Kumano Kodo from the lovely cafe owner. I recommend you should go here especially when you start your journey in this area.
