A great station- upon exiting one finds many shops, Malls n the famous Nakano Broadway. The latter is famous for collection/shops of anime/manga figurines and paraphernalia. The area has a shopping alleyway yokocho which has many individual shops selling items at reasonable prices. This area is also famous for many shops who trade in branded vintage watches n timepieces - Rolex, Hublot, Panerai, Patek Philippe etc- one of the more renowned shops being Jack Road. There’s also wonderful food n snacks everywhere. All these activities being just within the surrounding area of Nakano Station- just a stone’s throw away. A lively atmosphere for shopping, eating n discovering some special unique hobbyist shops!! Highly recommended.

The area surrounding Nakano station has plenty to do—tons of restaurants and a nice covered shopping street. It is also a nice middle ground between the wild yonder (nature areas such as Takao, Mitake, routes to Fuji) and access to the city. What I mean is, if you want to live near the city, but have easier access to hikes and such, Nakano is decent.

Most people are reviewing this train station as if it was the shopping centre. The train station is not wheelchair accessible unless you ask for assistance from the station staff who will bring you down the escalator.

There are no elevators available for wheelchairs, strollers etc., which makes it quite inconvenient.

Visited this station in August 2016. It was my first experience in Japan. It's close to Shinjuku and had no difficulty getting on and off the trains. Way finding was easy to understand, even for a first timer like me. The station was clean and neat.

No elevator. Couldn’t find it anywhere on the platform after using the Tozai line. Other reviews have stated the same in other parts of the station. So as far as I’ve experienced, it is very difficult to manage this station if you are disabled or have a baby in a stroller. I’m really surprised they haven’t updated this station, it’s extremely discouraging.

If you are bringing stroller or wheelchair, you find elevator at South Exit once exiting the train. It has comfortable and clean toilet. It has very comfortable nursery room which is very convenient for breastfeeding mother. Mother with stroller can also bring stroller inside the room Helpful staff at travel information center. Has many shops outside the station.

This tiny traditional, old-fashioned, original soul Japanese food restaurant provide amazing dishes, like my grandma and mom used to fix! You’ve got try it. Recommended by local. Maybe it’s difficult to find it so ask local petiole where it is. I also inserted a picture of map. Good luck and enjoy it!
