There have been upgrades since I visited years ago. Nicer fencing, play are clean and painted, and upgraded. Saw workers fixing enclosures and feeding animals which was fun to see. Snack window wasn't open yet but listed prices were very affordable even for a big family. Over all it was clean and animals looked and acted content and happy. Although I missed seeing the elephant that was there when I was younger. Loved all the peacocks freely walking around, so beautiful.

Our family was just looking for a park to eat lunch in while passing though town, but were astonished at how great this park is! It’s obvious that they have good community support to keep it going. It was a wonderful treat to explore as a family.

Very small community zoo, the entrance is free and it has a real community vibe it really makes you feel part of something. There is a small donation box in case you want to contribute yet not even anyone asking you for anything. There is a very nice play area for the little ones. The first monkey that went out to space and came back was born in this zoo.

A lot of the zoo was under construction but it was free and a pleasant walk and there were some animals out. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ If you're already in town you might as well go watch the monkeys play in their castle.

Best little zoo in southeast Kansas, cant beat the price, free to get in. Plenty to do for the whole family, park has been updated and the veteran memorials are top notch. Minature train, Merry go round, and putput golf. Very reasonably priced and worth it. Also visit Miss Ables Snack Shack. This is a must see if you visit Indy.

Made this stop to get out of the car, stretch and see the dinosaur statue. Turns out this park has so much more to offer. Finding this free zoo was a great bonus. There are several animals all in enclosures that had a very old school zoo approach, but they seemed spacious enough and the animals were active not just pacing back and forth. The grounds themselves were dirty and could use some cleaning up.

Really laid back place. Great place to spend a day with the family as the zoo is free the train is 50¢ a ticket. And 5¢ a ticket for the carousel. Even the snack shack was really affordable!

What a great park. The number of amenities is pretty incredible, and they're all super reasonably priced. It's easy to make an afternoon--or day--of the park. It's great to see a city invest in its public facilities.

Nice little park and mini zoo, very well kept. Apparently the rides and concessions haven’t opened back up yet though.

It's a free zoo with a playground for the children. Take the kids, let them run around and burn some calories this summer. It's definitely worth the drive.

We love this place. The fact that they have a free zoo is just amazing. The have some cool animals, love the coati, fox, bears, and the mountain lion. But the stars of the show are the monkeys. They have 2 different encounters with them. Oh and who can forget the adorable sloth. 😍 The park is also wonderful. We could play here for hours. My kids love it. Thank you to the volunteers and the people who kindly keep these attraction going.

This zoo used to be every child's fondest memory growing up. We couldn't wait to finally load up in the car after the parents loaded the coolers and stuff needed for a picnic. After making our way through zoo which seemed to be humongous when you were small. We'd get to the park for a family picnic and quality time together. The drive home we would be sacked out from exhaustion from our big day at the zoo. I came here for the first time today with some friends and their children and I'm just baffled at how run down this place has become. Half of the animals had no water and looked ragged. Half the habitats were with animals but without water. I know we are in a time of craziness and covid ridden quarantine, but seriously our trip to this zoo could have been so much more magical for the little girl excited to go..... Very disappointed!!!

Its such a cute little park. The zoo is great too. It's free and there's lots of equipment for a wide age range. They recently added handicapped swings and more regular swings also. Highly recommended. They also have a carousel, a miniature train and putput golf on the weekends currently.

The place is great for the entire family. The park is very beautiful and has a small town charm. The zoo is nice and it is free. They do take donations to help take care of the animals. I would highly recommend this place.

For a small zoo, it's really very nice. You can feed the swans and ducks (the turtles enjoy the food too) and you can feed the monkeys. The bears and raccoons were super cool. Concession stand has a large selection and fairly cheap, thankfully because we had a party of 8 and the staff are really friendly and helpful. Restrooms were clean for being a zoo. Will definitely be going back once it's a little cooler.

This was the worst zoo I have ever been to. Hardly any animals. Mostly monkey and domestic animals. There was yellow tape up. The staff were depressing. There was a toxic sign up and the duck pond. Everything online was I correct. Not worth the 3 hour drive.

Great little zoo! This zoo runs on donations, it is free to go. You can make purchases and make donations outside the zoo to help support it. Still a nice little zoo!

  • 4/5 Amber H. 11 months ago on Google
It is currently under some renovations. Not many animals, but it's free and feeding animals isn't cheap. They have so much in one park though that you can't beat it. They have a carousel, a train, and miniature golf, all cheap. They also have a water park that's fun.

We have been wanting to visit forever. It's worth the stop so many things to see all a little different from the next best part it was all free and not very busy at all.

  • 5/5 Lindy H. 10 months ago on Google
It was so fun and peaceful, you can tell the animals are well cared for and the workers were super nice and answered all our questions. We really enjoyed ourselves. Bonus if you get hot, go look at the snakes 😜

Great place to take the family for a day outing. There's a small zoo, a large park, a merry go round, and a miniature train you can ride for a very small fee. I believe the train was .50 a ride and the merry go round was .05 a ride. There is also a fun little 18 hole miniature golf course that is $2 a game and is loads of fun. This is one of my favorite places that is nearby to take the family.

  • 3/5 Kimberly M. 1 year ago on Google
It is free. When we went there were only a handful of animals. Mostly peacocks. The train only runs on Thursday and Fridays at the moment. The kiddy park in the zoo is closed.

The only issue I had with this park was the amount of hornets at every trash can. We couldn't stop to take pictures with the kids with out having to run from hornets 🤣 the kids enjoyed their time looking at the animals and laughing at me trying to not get stung (I'm allergic to stings). This is an amazing place to take your kids when you're passing through.

This was my 2nd visit. Perfect for children, families and anyone wanting a beautiful experience in nature. A lovely carousel ride for only a nickel. You can't beat it!

It's a beautiful little place and worth the visit. They have spider monkeys, some swans and ducks, raccoons, a red fox and a few other critters. They have a beautiful butterfly garden that is filled with species I've never seen. The waterways and ponds ate in dire need of cleaning as we seen ample amounts of plastic in the form of bottles and wrappers floating around. Very sad to see. Admission is FREE!

The train was going today and the carousel too! Such a beautiful place to spend a Saturday afternoon. The chili cheese nachos from the snack shack were awesome! There was a birthday party going on in the big building in the middle. Everyone looked like they were having a blast!

We actually visited there off the normal zoo season, driving through reminded the both of wonderful times spent there having picnics and family reunions there as children. I find it to be a really nice place to spend with loved ones. I do recommend going during warmer weather though.

Great outdoors fun in a clean safe environment. The zoo and playground are free, and the train, carousel, and mini golf are super affordable. So I can spoil my kids and not break the budget.

Fun little zoo. Mostly wheelchair accessible. Some steep hills that would not be made o your own. Almost not made with someone pushing. COVID-19 made seeing some animals impossible.
